The Space

Walk to Sunset Blvd. from our unique vintage duplex. You will enjoy the view of downtown Los Angeles from your queen size bed and also from the large patio right outside. This apartment boasts the charm of the 1920's from it's original crown moldings, hardwood floors, china cabinet, built in dresser, bookcase. Furnished with a retro dining table, 1930's love seat, custom reclaimed wood bed frame with newer high quality mattress, HBO, new HD flat screen TV, high speed wireless internet, ipod dock, ceiling fan and alarm clock. you will experience the unique mix specific to the designers taste. The apartment is equipped with plush towels, succulent bedding and a small library of books that relate to the history of the neighborhood. The full kitchen is fresh and clean and has a new fridge, gas oven and is stocked with dinner ware and utensils. The remodeled bath has an over sized tile shower and vintage sink staying true to the period. The apartment opens onto a shared patio and vintage patio furniture and lush fruit trees and landscape lighting. We offer free laundry right outside of your apartment and the washer and dryer are less than one year old. Our residential street is tree lined and filled with homes rather than apartment complexes making parking safe and easy with no permits required. This is a very walkable safe part of Silver lake. We enjoy a twice weekly Farmer's Market, Sunset Junction and a bevy of notable cafes and coffee shops. Get to know the famous sets of stairs known as the "Music Box Steps" from Laurel and Hardy's early films and the Micheltorena stairs at the top of our street. These will take you right to Sunset Blvd. For monthly stays we require maid service every other week. This is a family environment not a place to party. Your discounts are already included in the price. We love pets but our apartment is pet free.

  • Houston is a long time Silverlake resident and very knowledgeable about the area. We were in town to for the Dwell on Design modern home tour so we enjoyed sharing our design enhusiasm with her. Her apartment was centrally located, with a comfortable outdoor space, an amazing view, and charmingly decorated. We'd come back in a heartbeat!

  • This little apartment was exactly as described. It had everything I needed for a week away from home. It has a gorgeous view and is clean as a whistle. Houston kept me informed about all the activities around the house which made me feel very safe and well cared for. I would definitely stay here again.

  • This is the second time we've stayed at Houston's in Silver Lake, and it works very well for us. The apartment itself is private, quiet, clean and has all the basic requirements covered. The bathroom is bright, the kitchen functional, the bed comfortable and the patio our favorite place to spend time when just hanging out. Sunrise with a cup of coffee, or sunset with a glass of wine, we found the patio to be a great place enjoy the view of downtown LA.

The rental is tucked into a nice neighborhood, feels secure, and is a fifteen minute walk to Sunset, and we've never had an issue finding a parking spot within close proximity to the apartment.

Houston is easy to work with and truly cares about making your stay a good one.

We plan to return to LA later this year, and we'll stay at Houston's in Silver Lake again.

  • Needed a place for my daughter and I to stay while she worked at a two week internship. Coming from Maine and not knowing what to expect, Houston and her husband helped tremendously answering all our questions so quickly and giving great suggestions. This was the perfect spot and so convenient to everything...Great parking and easy access to all major boulevards for travel....Adorable walking neighborhood and so safe and clean ~ felt very at home and comfortable!

Situated so close to the greatest cafes, boutiques, floral shops, restaurants...Loved Sunset Junction with Clemantine Floralworks, Intelligentsia, Cafe Stella, Heywood Grilled Cheese, Casbah Cafe...Also loved Moon Juice in the other direction down Sunset!

Would definitely go back if need arises and highly recommend this area and this rental!!

  • Houston was a fantastic host. She was super easy to communicate with and always available. The place is lovely, and very clean. She left me guides to all the places I needed and offered me help with finding anything. I can't wait to go back and will definitely stay at the same pace.

  • This was a great little place - tucked in a beautiful location on one of the most desirable streets in Silver Lake. The apartment has everything one needs, including a fabulous view - out your bedroom window! - of DTLA, across a lovely little patio. Houston was a great onsite host, responds to emails almost immediately, and very accommodating. Two thumbs up for this stay in LA!

  • We are so happy that we chose Houston's apartment for our 1 week vacay in beautiful LA. The place had everyting that you could possibly need. Tidy and clean, relaxed neighboorhood, fully equipped kitchen, comfy bed and an amazing outdoor patio with view over downtown LA. Parking was easy to find just outside on the street. We highly recommend you to stay here - we surely will if/when we return to LA! Thank you Houston for hosting us!

  • We really enjoyed our stay--lovely little apartment, fantastic patio, impressive vegetation (an etrog tree?), wonderful views over downtown LA, delightful and vibrant neighbourhood. Communication with Houston was always easy and check-in/check-out went smoothly. The one minor issue that cropped up during our vacation (the heater wasn't turning on) was dealt with immediately. Definitely recommend.
