Casita with 2 terraces on south and west side of the house, 2 bedrooms, large kitchen and privately situated on a unique former coal mine complex. We have still some weeks available for this Summer. Book now for the special last minute offer.
The casita is part of the old coal mine estate of 3 hectares. From the south terrace you have a spectacular view over the valley and the 3rd city of Mallorca, Inca. On the west terrace you have more shade in the lush garden. The casita is less than 1 km from the small town Selva, which is a quiet town with a huge church near the central plaza in the town.
Read the recommendations / reviews about this accommodation. Sofar all guests assumed that it was all much smaller, also the estate, which is not (30,000 m2).
The house is part of the old coal mine estate which closed in 1986. There are several houses and other buildings which used to be part of the mine - and on top of the main old mine shaft going down there is an old rusty mine tower of 14 meters high which some guests could not resist to climb. The 3,000 meters of mine galleries and mine shafts are not accessible anymore as these are now full of water, which is a valueble commodity on the island in Summertime. It enables us to keep our estate green and lushy.
It's a unique place and if you are looking for something special you may like it very much.
Although there are more houses (4 in total) the house is quite privately situated on the estate.
Guests will receive a remote control key to open the front gate and you can park your car on the premise.
The estate is 1 kilometer from the center of the town Selva which has about 1000 inhabitants. On the central small square in Selva you will find a number of restaurants, there is a small bakery and a small grocery and a huge church is towering above Selva. A larger supermarket (name = A-Prop) is about 4 minutes walk from this square.
Selva is 2 kilometers from the 3rd largest city of Mallorca: Inca. Being in Selva near Inca means that you are almost on the center of the island, close to the mountain ridge 'La Tramuntana' (highest summit about 1450 meters), 30 minutes from Palma using the main highway.
As this is a special accommodation you may have some questions. Don't hesitate to ask us any questions and we can send you more photos if you like.
Guests will get a remote control key to open the front gate and are allowed access to the whole estate and we always offer the 'grand tour' which shows a bit of the old coal mine, typical trees on Mallorca and what we intend to do with it.
Interaction with Guests
We highly respect the privacy of our guests but we can always be contacted if needed for practical issues regarding the house or hints and tips for Mallorca.
The neighborhood is not a typical tourist area. You live amongst locals and get a real taste of how the Mallorquin live here. It's close to the mountain ridge Tramuntana, close to the 3rd city of the island (Inca) and close to the main highway which runs across the island.
You do need a car, although we did accommodate some guests who relied on public transport and this went amazingly well if you know the time schedules. Busses and trains go from Inca, which is about 2 km from Selva.
Other Things to Note
The estate is kind of unique and most guests leave with tears in their eyes. Also, on the photos is looks quite flat as it's two dimensional, but reality proves to be different. The elevation difference on the estate from the main gate to the bottom gate is about 30 meter and you can get lost in the dense 'jungle' (did you know that Selva means jungle in Spanish?)
We expect you to treat the casita if it would be your own house.
We had a very nice time in Mallorca! The little time we spent at the house of Mark and Ans was marvellous. This is really a special place for people who like nature.
Everything was perfect from the beginning to the end, Mark and Ans are very nice and helpful, the house is very cute and comfortable, the view great, the space full of nice little corners and the fresh egs in the morning are the dot on the i!We would love to come back one day
We had a very, very pleasant stay for two weeks at the paradise of Mark & Ans and Borre. The house and the area are great. Above all, we loved the friendly atmosphere and the willingness of Mark and Ans to share their enthusiasm and happiness with their guests.
We hope to come back!
Ivo & Annette and their doggie Tara (… who’s still wagging her tail, if we mention the name of Borre)
Selva was a fantastic location, very central, and with a car (essential) is a great base to explore the island. It's a quiet location, with just the sound of the goats, sheep and chickens to wake you. Selva is walking distance at around 1 kilometres away. If you need more then Inca is just 3 kilometres away and is quite a large town with every facility.
The cottage, in a rustic Spanish style, had all the facilities we required, including two terraces and BBQ. The cottage has everything you need as a base, including WiFi.
Mark and Ams were great hosts that left us to it, but ensured that everything was perfect. They were very welcoming and helpful (with local information etc) all that you want from a host! They even left us a welcome package with some groceries, wine, and beer!
Please, keep this place a secret! We stayed here for the second time because we really enjoyed the atmosphere of both the house and the garden and the kids were very keen on seeing the friendly dog again. It is a perfect place if you like to relax in natural surroundings. The house is nice and very well equiped. We made some trips trough the mountains and drove to beautifull and not so touristy beaches. Thanks Ans and Mark!
English: We had a pleasant week at Mark & Ans guest house, remotely situated on an unusual ground, a former coal mine. With two bathrooms and two terraces, it's ideal for four people, quiet and charming. Mark & Ans are friendly, easygoing hosts (as is their dog, btw.).
The nearby town of selva is also very nice, and shows "the other side" of mallorca. Car recommended.
A great place where we only stayed one night, but we really loved it. Mark and Ans were very quick to answer mails. God cooking fascilities. Two lovely terraces.
Much better "in real life" than on the pictures. Seems that Mark & Ans had thought about everything. Strong WiFi signal. We would love to come back - well recommended.
