Amazing heritage terrace house in fashionable Surry Hills, within walking distance to everything Sydney.
This private room is away from the street with plenty of privacy - we have lots of great reviews for this awesome place.
The room for rent is located on the middle level of the 3 level terrace and has a double bed.
While it's not a big room, there's plenty of storage space - with large drawers, hanging space and a shoe rack. (see photos)
There's a hair dryer in the top drawer, along with the standard towels/sheets and shampoo/conditioner. The bedroom also has air conditioning.
The house is a large, 5 bedroom terrace. It was recently renovated and features wooden floor boards on the lower levels, modern kitchen and a bright, flowing feel.
We have a large living room (with big TV, Apple TV and couch), a dining room, a large kitchen with gas cooking, large fridge, breakfast table in the sun, a large courtyard with BBQ and outdoor seating, washing/drying machine, 3 bathrooms (2 showers) and 5 bedrooms total.
We're on a quiet street right near the main Surry Hills area - so you've got the best of both worlds.
Hopefully the photos speak for themselves - but we're happy to explain more if you have any questions!
You'll be staying with three housemates (myself, my sister Elise and a housemate from Birmingham called Jamie). We are in our late 20s / early 30s and are creative, relaxed and fun.
It'd be great to have you stay, so please get in touch if you have any questions at all!
You'll have complete privacy in your room with storage, air conditioning and plenty of storage.
You'll share a bathroom but there are 2.5 bathrooms in the house with only 3 people (plus you) staying at the house.
The downstairs area of the house is communal - and includes a living room (with TV & couch), dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom, breakfast sun area and outdoor courtyard with BBQ and outdoor table/chairs.
The only areas out of bounds are the other bedrooms.
Interaction with Guests
You'll be staying with three housemates (myself, my sister Elise and a housemate from Birmingham called Jamie). We are in our late 20s / early 30s and are creative, relaxed and fun. We work Monday to Friday for fashion, recruitment and an internet company.
We're not a party house - but occasionally have a few friends or partner over. Having said that - the house is big and there's plenty of space to chill out.
We're always happy to give recommendations for places to eat/drink/explore. We're a very friendly house (have a read of the reviews) and our guests have always been happy.
Surry Hills is one of the most popular suburbs in Sydney for cafes, food, culture and general 'vibe'. TimeOut's suburb guide describe it as "Sydney’s buzziest and most happening ’burb". It's also one of the most sought after.
It was the only Australian suburb listed in the world's "50 most stylish neighborhoods" (coming in at number 23) by American lifestyle magazine Complex.
On top of all the awesomeness of Surry Hills - you're in a really central part of Sydney, with a 10 minute walk to Central Station (which connects to everything), buses everywhere (bondi, circular quay, city), a short walk to Centennial park, chinatown, the city etc. There's a large supermarket (Coles) about 100 metres away.
If you haven't heard of Surry Hills, just do a web search for "Surry Hills pubs, restaurants, culture etc" You'll quickly see how awesome this place is :)
One website summed it up as this:
"Amid Crown Street's funky fashion shops and salons, the buzzing garment district and the artsy, gay-friendly vibe, Surry Hills is a hotbed of restaurant activity. Here Sydneysiders can come for some of the city's best baristas and coffee houses, many of them tucked away between converted warehouses that stretch down to Central Station.
Surry Hills boasts a swag of celebrity chefs from Kylie Kwong to Bill Granger and Mark Best, while heading south to Cleveland Street unveils the suburb's small stretch of Little India. There's a lot of ground to cover, but there are few foodie areas in Sydney that deliver more quality dining options, from casual to upscale."
Our house is parallel to Crown St and connects to Cleveland St (the streets mentioned above) so you really are in the centre of everything.
We are in a near-perfect spot for public transport. The main train station for Sydney, Central Station, is a 12 minute walk away.
We have buses within 100m which go to the city, the harbour bridge, Bondi, Newtown etc. Buses to the city take 15 minutes - or you can walk it in 30 minutes.
You can walk for 1km and be in a huge park - which hires bikes to ride and explore the ponds and native birds.
Other Things to Note
We're looking forward to meeting you!
We are pretty laid back - but there's a few (probably obvious) rules.
We have a courtyard area that is great - but it also backs onto our neighbours houses - so we ask for no loud outside noise after 10pm.
Please no smoking inside the house and shoes off when going upstairs.
Finally, we're not a party house (but not book worms) so we'd prefer no big groups of people coming over etc
Wonderful stay! A nice area, comfortable bed, and lovely hosts. Bathroom right next to bed, plenty of privacy.
Anthony's room in Surry Hills was great! The area was fantastic and all his tips on local eateries really served me well. Room was spacious, clean and felt very private even though it was in a shared home.
Anthony was really easy to communicate with and made it easy for me to settle in.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Anthony's. His house was beautiful, clean, great location and comfy bed. Definitely try the lamb roll at the bakery! The house is at the end of surry hills but was walking distance to all the bars and restaurants I went to. Buses to coogee and to downtown were literally a block away. Also, easy walk to central station. Anthony and his girlfriend were extremely friendly and accommodating. HIGHLY recommend staying here!
It was my first Airbnb experience and it could not have been better. The communication was very good right from the beginning. Had I felt very comfortable in the house. The room was clean as was the bathroom. Antony got me many valuable tips for Sydney. The location in Surry Hills was great. It is quiet, yet centrally located.
I never used Airbnb before, so I didn't know what to expect. Anthony is a super friendly host! The room was clean, so were the other rooms (kitchen, bathrooms, etc.) The house is located next to Crown Street, which is great for shopping and known for fantastic bars/restaurants.
Overall a very good experience, I can highly recommend this place! Thanks a lot
I really had a great time staying at Anthony’s place. He and his housemates Elise and Jamie were very welcoming and always helpful giving advices. The house is perfectly located in Surry Hills (but even quiet), beautiful, clean and has a nice backyard. I coulnd’t image a better place to stay in Sydney. Highly recommended!
Fabulous location, great place and wonderful people!!! I have just relocated to Sydney and stayed with Anthony and housemates for almost 2 weeks while house hunting and settling into Sydney.
My name is Anthony, I am a Sydneysider who's been living in Surry Hills for the past 2 years. I bought this terrace with my sister, Elise, and have a great housemate called Jamie.
I started using AirBnb when I quit my job and went off travelling for 4 months - and since getting back we've decided to start renting out the spare room.
I like to play soccer, do some acting and work for an awesome internet company. I also do some occasional TV presenting work around technology and general geeky stuff.
Always happy to help with suggestions for food, drink or recreational activities in Sydney :)
Anyway, I'm looking forward to meeting you!
