I have hosted a dozen events in my home thus far and rented my condo to 40 airbnb guests in the last 12 months with 5-star reviews from all. You can see these reviews (and other photos) via my other listings on this page (to the right of this description box). This listing is new and aims to rent my place for convention season and entertainment-minded guests. Guest Access

The entire building and it's amenities!

Interaction with Guests

I will be there to host the event and stop by intermittently to be of help with directions, to clean up the condo and do laundry of the guests if needed.

The Neighborhood

This is the most famous section of Chicago for tourism HOWEVER it is also home to some of the most interesting cultural and architectural gems. The neighborhood is SAFE, my condo is conveniently located inside all access to public transportation-- CTA bus lines, elevated and underground trains, Metra Station and taxi's, limos's and car services are at your disposal any time of day or night.

Getting around

One of, if not THE most convenient locations in the city for transportation. The expressway is a few blocks away, Lake Shore Drive, right up the street, Michigan Avenue, every type of public transportation is within 3 seconds to 7 minutes of my front door.

Other Things to Note

I've hosted well over 50 guests in less than two years and produced/hosted dozens of parties in my home (and in other people's homes). I am a professional jazz musician with a company that specializes in bringing JAZZ music into the foreground for private and special events… I have several other listings on this site and not one bad review yet-- all glowing, in fact. I can guarantee you a wonderful, priceless time in my condo with my utmost attention to detail and hospitality during your stay.

  • Erin and Ralf were amazing hosts, I could not have felt more welcome there and look forward to staying there again. This is a GREAT SPOT in Chicago.

  • our stay in Chicago was fabulous, in large part due to the apartment, and Ralf and Erin's hospitality. first of, the apartment was much better than even the pictures show. the view was beautiful, and at night simply breathtaking. turn out the lights, sit on the sofa and look out over Chicago, it's better than TV. Ralf was super charming and entertaining, with stories you just had to smile about. thank you for inviting us for a drink downstairs in your bistro! the bistro, by the way, really gets going at night. it's such a good spot for a chicago visit, can't express that enough. anyone who stays here will not be disappointed. so, until next time Ralf and Erin, auf wiedersehen! -David

  • Erin is a fantastic, honest and cool person... It's a shame we all didn't spend more time together... the apartment is incredible and perfectly located... We'll certainly be in touch next time we're back in the city :) highly recommended

  • The views from the apartment were amazing, and the apartment was exactly as advertised. Ralf was a fantastic host: he was always very accommodating, and he even got us a cocktail on the house at the Bistro he manages downstairs. All in all, staying at Ralf's apartment made this trip even more memorable, and we will definitely try to stay there again if we return to Chicago.

  • Erin was great and her place is in a fantastic location. Her condo is as described; much larger than most places in the city. Erin was only there a few nights and all but invisible unless I needed something. She seems to know everyone in town and she took me and some friends out one night for drinks. Even the Bar manager down stairs treated us to drinks on another night because I was staying with her!
    Thanks Erin!

  • This was our first time using airbnb. Erin's condo was very nice, with outstanding views. Plus within walking distance to almost everything.
Ralf was wonderful and super helpful. We've already recommended Erin to others.

    Response from Erin:

SO glad you liked it! Thank you so much for the referrals. :)

  • Erin was the most superb host and everything in the apartment was perfect, down to the cleanliness of the apartment which was better than a 6 star hotel.
The apartment itself has an amazing view and you will take many pictures of the Chicago skyline during the stay.
I can strongly recommend your stay here if you need to be in Chicago for any amount of time.

Professional Jazz Vocalist
Hi, I'm a Chicago-based professional jazz musician with several albums out and a really gorgeous condo that is super-expensive to live in. Hello, airbnb! I'm an excellent hostess and have dozens of testimonials on this site to back up that claim, so, please make your stay in Chicago with me and make a new friend in the process? Random tid-bits: I love great wines, particularly full-bodied red wines. And I love to share a great bottle with someone who has great insight to share. I love thunderstorms and snowstorms-- I guess because they can mirror the tempestuous soul. I detest smoke and find drug-use a huge turn-off; it just depresses me. Neither are acceptable in my home or propinquity. Can't cook. Won't try. Great at ordering take-out, though. Hate the sound of clashing silverware. Love children more than anything (!!!!) but I don't have a child-friendly condo. Would rather have terminal cancer than a broken heart. Jazz snob-- no, I don't think Norah Jones is a jazz singer, stop asking me to sing her stupid songs. (Sorry) You will hear plenty of Chet Baker, Monk, Anita O'Day, Ben Webster, Cannonball Adderly, Wes Montgomery, Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan, Mel Torme, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson... you catch the drift, I'm a jazz-baby. Love lots of genres of music (Blues, Celtic, Classical, folk, Middle Eastern, French cabaret, classic rock...) but really cannot tolerate rap or the current definition of R&B/soul. Most pop past the 90's sucks. (LOL... I am so making enemies here...) I have more *friends* (not acquaintances-- FRIENDS) than anyone you may ever meet! Literally. It's a blessing. My loyalty is deep and wide to people who are heartfelt and kind. ;) Often, I like to have a few people over for wine, cheese, political discussions, chats about matters of the heart... Quiet company time is a favorite past time of mine. I prefer the city-scape to the prairie. I love a full moon. I wear stilettos like an infant wears diapers- ALWAYS. ;-)) I love poetry and people who live poetic lives. I am hopeless with most technology and miss things like phones with buttons. My iphone is an irritation to me more than a beloved treasure. People say I was born in the wrong era. I agree. Nothing better than a person with a quick and unique sense of humor and a compassionate, fearless heart. People show their true character when they think no one is looking. Sports bars have taken over America. That isn't a good thing. There's nothing sexier than humility. I'd rather be trusting and mistaken than safely pessimistic. If you can make grilled cheese you might as well be Charlie Trotter in my world. Good parents are my favorite people. Fashion is an expression of personality, but real beauty comes from within. I am intolerant of intolerance. Racism is the most disgusting characteristic of man. I like to box with my trainer in my pink boxing gloves, yet I was a ballet dancer more than half my life. I'm allergic to most animals. It's ridiculous how bad my allergies are. So the cruel irony is I love animals but I avoid them like the plague or I'm sick for days. Strangers on airplanes usually become friends with me-- or hate it when I fall asleep on their shoulder as they try to read... or sit comfortably in their own space. (LOL) A goal is to learn several languages. Old people make my heart melt, and I often want to snuggle them like grandparents. The lineage of history that dwells inside their eyes is a reminder to live a good, productive, grateful life. I prefer baths to showers and candlelight to sunlight. I think Reality TV is one of the country's biggest embarrassments and teachers should earn what basketball players make in a career. I'm in awe of people who can draw, paint, sculpt, sew, build things... I do not know the difference between a baseball and a football. (Kidding- but only slightly). If it's a choice between a tellurian wine bar/cafe OR the hot new stand-in-line for an hour nightclub?: Wine bar. Even if I have VIP passes, free drinks all night, celebrity hosts-- those "scenes" of pick up joints and crowded clubs make me disengaged. I prefer a half empty room at closing time with deep conversation. I have bouts of insomnia. But I typically write in those times. I like to clean and scrub the apartment-- it's cathartic. I like people who are thoughtful, witty, compassionate and honest. Clean and respectful is appreciated too. People with dreams are common. People that follow their dreams and sacrifice their comfort to pursue their deeper passions, with focused tenacity: they are the spice of life that inspires. You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat a waiter, a doorman, a busboy, a janitor and an assistant. Money doesn't buy class. Or good taste. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone is someone's child. Everyone has a gift. Music, at it's best, is a healer. One genuine smile can change a stranger's entire day. I'd rather be remembered as a loving person than an attractive one.
