Welcome to "General Vallejo's Sanctuary". This newly remodeled private home is located in the heart of the Valley Of The Moon Wine Country and the historic town of Sonoma California. It is aptly named after the Spanish General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, the founding father of the town of Sonoma. The area where this home is located was once part of General Vallejo's personal olive grove. A large olive tree, a remnant of Vallejo's own grove, stands majestically in the front yard.
We invite you to relax and escape in this calming, two bedroom, two bath oasis. The large open air rooms provide over 1200 square feet of living space, offering the amenities of a five star resort at a fraction of the cost. There is a spa/hot tub only a few steps from the master suite. Relax and enjoy mild weather afternoons and lazy evenings in the Sonoma climate under the shade of the comfortable umbrellas, perhaps while enjoying a massage. The ample 200 square foot deck, patio heaters, and grill provide a perfect setting for a refreshing drink and an evening of enjoyment and pleasure.
Come stay with us, relax and get a feel for life in the wine country! We are walking distance, (7 blocks), from the world famous Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa where with the purchase of a day pass you can indulge in the bathing ritual and soak in the healing mineral pools or rejuvenate yourself with an authentic spa treatment. We are 2.9 miles or 8 to 10 minutes depending on traffic from the Sonoma Square according to (website hidden) Maps.
While visiting many prefer to visit the world famous wineries located here in the Sonoma Valley such as Ledson Winery and Vineyards or Domaine Carneros noted for its sparkling wine. There are also many small, off the beaten path, family owned wineries such as Larson Family Winery, famous for their Three Lab Cab named after the families three dogs that lazily keep watch on the vineyards. Many wineries have free tasting available. Need a guided wine tour or a driver, ask us we can arrange it. At the end of a day wine tasting come home for a pleasant rest.
Many renowned restaurants just right around the corner. Walk to The Big 3 for lemon cottage cheese pancakes or crab quesadillas. Or maybe try the truly classic Fremont Diner, famous for preparing meals with ingredients fresh from the onsite farm! In Glen Ellen for the morning? Don't miss out on the delicious eggs benedict at the Garden Court Cafe. In the mood for modern french food? Maybe you'll try The Girl & the Fig. Or maybe gourmet pizza? The Red Grape, is also located on the Sonoma square. Or maybe you just want to relax a bit at Murphy's Irish Pub. These are just a few of the variety of dining choices located 2 to 10 minutes from the home.
Want to go where the locals go? Try the local Valley of the Moon Farmers Market on Tuesday evenings starting at five in the Sonoma square. Don't forget to bring your wine, picnic basket and blanket. Enjoy free entertainment and meet local merchants and farmers and enjoy their goods. Don't just be a visitor, but get a real feel for what life in Sonoma is like.
Does your relaxation mean outdoor activity? Hike the Sonoma Overlook Trail. Bike around the Square. Or plan a day out at the California coast. Maybe some spearfishing? How about diving for Red Abalone, A delicacy located no where else in the world but the California coast.

Just a lovely place to stay! The hosts were kind and easy to get in touch with. The place felt like home (but with some upgrades - hot tub, etc :)) and we began each day with a jog to a nearby park, did some wine tasting, had a delicious dinner downtown and relaxed at the place in the evening.
The on-site cats are friendly but not in your face. Loved this place and hope to return!
Stephanie and Jason's home in Sonoma is just lovely! We had lots of space to relax and enjoyed their firm, comfortable beds. This space is ideal for two couples or a family like ours with two well behaved children who will be willing to care for the home as if it was their own. As it is not in the centre of town you would ideally have a car. It's location means you feel like you a local, in a country street. Very pleasant. The hosts are very nice and caring.
Stephanie was a great host. They live next store so we eager to show us around the house when we got there. The hot tub was great for a quiet, relaxing eveing under the stars follwoing wine tasting.
The home was beautiful and very clean! Our host was extremely hospitable and answered all of our questions about the area we were visiting. We all had a wonderful time and I highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a great getaway in Sonoma!
Our stay at the house was amazing! The place was spacious and clean. The location was perfect - walking distance from a local (Creekside Inn) cafe where we had breakfast every morning, short drive to Sonoma Square and easy access to all the major streets leading to Sonoma, Napa, etc. I highly recommend this place for small groups or couples.
Had a very nice stay in their clean, nicely remodeled home. Kitchen well stocked. BBQ worked well and clean. Did notice broken cabinet door, which I screwed back in myself later. Two cats on premises very cute and friendly. Wifi fast. No covered parking. Would definitely stay again.
Great place to stay!! We found it perfect for two couples. Close to the Sonoma downtown core and to many great wineries.
Our stay here was amazing. The house is very cute with a perfect layout. It was extremely clean and perfectly stocked. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need! And the linens were very nice. And I must say the hot tub was just the icing on the cake. Stephanie and Jason were excellent hosts. They were very friendly, helpful, and respectful to our privacy. I'd 100% recommend staying here and know that my husband and I will return!
We stayed at the General Vallejo's Sanctuary in Sonoma for 3 days as it was very convenient to explore the many wineries in the area as well as downtown Sonoma. We preferred the privacy of a stand alone house to a standard B&B. Most of my communications prior to travel were with Stephanie by phone or email. She was very cordial and informative. When we were there, it was Jason who oriented us to their beautiful home and responded to our every need and inquiry. He also provided a great overview of the local area, with many great suggestions about what to see and do. He spent as much time as we needed, and was very respectful of our privacy. Their home was absolutely immaculate and beautiful, with every amenity in the gourmet kitchen, as well as a fabulous hot tub and spacious living room. There is an extensive movie library. This home is perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4 traveling together as there are 2 bedrooms and baths. We would gladly recommend this accommodation.
Oveall, we enjoyed our stay here. We got to use the hot tubs every night and played w/ the outdoor kitties.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
