This 1 acre property sits among beautiful trees and is only a 60 second walk to a beach access in Bennett Bay, one of the nicest bays in the Southern Gulf Islands.
The house is newly renovated with bamboo and tile floors, new kitchen, new baseboard heating, new washer and dryer, an updated full bathroom, and a wood stove. The house has a huge wrap around deck that allows for outdoor enjoyment including sipping coffee or tea in the morning on the front deck while listening to the sounds of the ocean, birds, and sea lions or taking in the summer sun on the back deck in the afternoon.
This one bedroom plus den home can accommodate 5-6 people comfortably with a high quality king-size bed in the large bedroom, a full-size futon in the den/office off the bedroom, and a queen-size sofa bed with a memory foam topper in the living room.
The rental includes all linens, kitchenware, wood for the fire, wireless internet access, and hydro.
Kayaks are available for an additional rental fee.
Interaction with Guests
We do not live on the island at the moment, so we are only accessible through email and phone. However, we are happy to promptly respond to any questions or comments you may have.
The Bennett Bay neighbourhood is one of the nicest on the island and the house is located close to additional accommodation (Mayne Inn), which has a seasonal restaurant that can be easily reached by a 10 minute walk. The Gulf Islands National Park also has trails located near the house and islands that can be reached by a short kayak ride.
There is a Community Bus that makes runs around the island at varying times, depending on the day of the week and driver availability (it is a volunteer service). Bus schedules can be obtained from various businesses on the island.
Car stops are placed at a number of locations on the main roads, where visitors can wait for a ride from a willing driver.
Bicycles or your own vehicle transportation are also convenient.
Other Things to Note
Outdoor burning is often restricted (especially in the summer months) due to dryness. Fire information can be viewed on signs at the exit of the ferry terminal as well as in front of the fire house and community health center. Any outdoor fires when burning is not allowed will result in a fine.
This is our family's home that we expect to keep for many years. Our parents plan to retire in the house and we hope to do the same one day. We have spent the last 2 years renovating our place and hope that guests will appreciate the space and show it the proper respect any family home deserves. We only ask that you leave it as you found it.
House is in a wonderful location. We enjoyed our time on the island. The house was exactly as pictured, and was very well maintained. Very quiet area, and having ocean shoreline access just across the street was fantastic.
Corey was very helpful and friendly. House was clean and fairly well stocked. Fireplace warmed up the house quite nicely, and the king-sized bed was warm and comfy. Wifi access was fast and had no issues.
I stayed on the island for about a month and this was a very pleasant rental. You don't have to worry about bringing a whole lot of things as much of it is provided.
The island is also nice and quiet. The place is right by Bennett Bay where you can enjoy the hikes and also some activities on the water. Overall quite an enjoyable stay
I stayed in Corey's lovely home for a month and very much enjoyed it. The house is cozy and comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked, there are DVDs galore to enjoy in the evenings, and there are linens and towels if you need them. The home is in a beautiful location, very close to Bennett Bay, so I took multiple walks to watch the sunset and enjoy the view.
Corey was quick to respond to any questions and was easy to work with. I definitely recommend this home for anyone wanting to enjoy Mayne Island.
Corey was really quick at getting back to me and provided helpful information about the place and the island. The house was great, exactly as listed. The kitchen was really well stocked with all the cookware and tools you could need. The area was really quiet and close to the public water access. We especially enjoyed Campbell Bay and the National Park area a short walk away from the house.
This house is just as lovely as described! We found it was more than enough space for 2 adults, 2 small children and a baby, complete with comfy beds and a fully stocked kitchen. In addition, Corey was a responsive and helpful host, even from the other side of the globe. With family now living on the island, we definitely plan to be back. Thanks for a lovely home away from home!
I have just returned from a relaxing week at Corey and his family's home on Mayne Island. Their home is exactly as described...well-appointed kitchen, comfortable bed and quiet surroundings. I loved the rugged beach across the road and sat on a log there most mornings, marvelling at the sunrise and bird life. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
We stayed for 5 days with our kids (2 and 5) and had an absolutely wonderful time. The accommodation was perfect and had everything we could have needed. We especially enjoyed relaxing out front in the hammock, wandering along the beach and taking in the lovely sights Mayne Island has to offer. We just got home and the kids are already asking when we can go back. This was our first time using air b&b and this place met and exceeded our expectations exponentially. Thank you Corey and family for a great experience and wonderful vacation!!
