The space

Serenity for 1, ideal for 2, the Treehouse is a very special retreat for one adult or a couple. Sorry, NO CHILDREN!

Suitable for candle-light dinners, relaxing, reflecting, rejuvenating or simply enjoying the sights and sounds of nature - birds singing, morning sun rays sprinkling through the rustling leaves, a squirrel scampering across the roof! Enjoy the sunset or sunrise with a beautiful view of the San Francisco Bay from the wrap-around deck. Fluffy down duvet comforter/pillows & quilts will keep you warm and cozy. Comfy queen size bed w/crisp linens in the sleeping loft and a lower level chaise/reading nook.

Remember, this is a true TREEHOUSE, a wee house in our big 150 year old Live Oak tree, which we built with love for our own growing family nearly 18 years ago. We feel so fortunate to share this experience with you and we take great care in making your stay comfortable, inviting and private. However, if you are expecting the Ritz versus a natural retreat, you may want to reconsider!

Guest access

A private kitchenette and W.C. (shower & toilet) in the lower level of our log home with your own private entrance is just 30 feet from the base of the treehouse (the path is lit at night). We provide fluffy towels/shampoo/conditioner/hair dryer. The kitchenette amenities include a small fridge, coffee & coffeemaker, electric water kettle for tea. There is NO stove/oven -- No cooking. We provide a light, healthy continental breakfast and a basket for transporting your breakfast up to the treehouse so you can eat at your leisure while watching the sunrise and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature from the treehouse & deck. For evening, most guests prefer to savor their time in the treehouse. Delicious locally made pizza or sandwiches/salads can be delivered right to the treehouse! We have phone numbers posted in the treehouse for your convenience. Alternatively, many diverse restaurants and amenities are a short drive away.

NOTE; Absolutely NO unauthorized guests are permitted. NO exceptions!

Interaction with guests

We respect your privacy! We will welcome you & show you the essentials --and then we will leave you to yourselves to explore and enjoy your very special time in the treehouse. However, we are only a text away should you need anything.

The neighborhood

The treehouse is on our private, wooded hillside property, which is located on a cul-de-sac street. Off-street parking for 1 car is dedicated for our treehouse guests - park only and directly in front of the "Route 66" sign at the 1st telephone pole on the right side of Fey Drive.

Getting around

We are a 20 minute drive to beautiful San Francisco, 10 minutes from the San Francisco Airport (SFO) and 8 minutes from the CalTrain/BART station. The gorgeous Pacific Ocean and Coastline is a beautiful 20 minute drive from the treehouse via 92 and the Silicon Valley is an easy, 20 minute scenic commute to the south via 280. The picturesque town of Burlingame is 2 miles away with its wonderful shopping and unique restaurants!

Other things to note

R-E-S-P-E-C-T; Must like the Beatles & Bob Marley! Must believe in a bit of magic and have a regard for trees and all living things!

This is truly a magical experience. Every detail is accounted for from the brownies upon arrival to the lids for the coffee cups to transport to the treehouse. It is a special place for anyone, whether you are solo or coupled, and the view is incredible! One tip is to bring a small bag with your essentials if this isn't your only stop for your CA visit. There are lots of stairs and ladders up to the treehouse. Doug was so kind and helped me out, but pack smart if you are able. Thank you so much, Doug!

Spent the night at this lovely treehouse for our anniversary. Much better than what I had expected. The treehouse was so cute, cozy and just amazing. What a wonderful experience! Wished we would have stayed one more night. We will definitely come here again! Thank you Doug!

Loveliest cottage ever! Arrange your life so that you do not have to leave the cottage. There is a good burmese restaurant Mingalaba in Burlinggame. We ate lunch there before check in. For dinner we had good bread, cheese and wine with us. That was great!

This is THE quintessential treehouse. I'm not talking about a condo built between a few trees as support, this is nested whole within the loving arms of one big, strong, living tree, and the trunks and branches really do snake in and out of the space. And guess what's really special, no nails! It is engineered to rest within and around the trunk and branches without drilling into the tree itself. It has a beautiful deck surrounding the living space with a nice view of trees and the bay and a bluebird who likes to join you for breakfast. And it's a remarkably clean and otherwise critter free living space. There were some scrumptious brownies and water waiting for us. Colored pencils for those who want to draw in the guest book. This is a truly special Bed and Breakfast experience. No plumbing in the treehouse, though, so be careful if you have bad knees as you'll have to go up and down to take care of business. My girlfriend and I had a perfect visit and in fact she became my fiancé right there in that treehouse! Thank you Doug! MacLeod & Sarah

This was our third time staying in the treehouse and it was just as great as always! We love staying here so much that my boyfriend proposed to me on this trip in the treehouse. Now it will always be super special to us! See you next year!

Staying in Doug and Linda's treehouse is a bucket list experience! Completely magical and cozy, the added hospitality touches like the breakfast complete with basket to take it up to the treehouse with you just take it over the top. I would love to stay here again. Thank you so much!

Doug User ProfileDoug is a superhost.

Our family loves nature, travel and meeting people from around the world. Through Airbnb we’ve found we are connected with other travelers in a very special way.

It’s great to share a few moments with guests and to provide a unique and private accommodation for them. We also enjoy sharing our insights about the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area which we call home.

We pass along these encouraging words from Nelson Mandella, "May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears."
