The Treehouse is a perfect place for a getaway to reflect, rejuvenate, have a romantic weekend, or bring a child or two. Enjoy a bit of nature in this stately 150 year old Live Oak Tree overlooking San Francisco Bay. This is the best of both worlds… perched above it all in a quiet, urban forested canyon with a 15 minute drive to glorious San Francisco, 10 minutes from SFO, 20 minutes to Silicon Valley to the South and Half Moon Bay to the East-- and 2 miles to the Millbrae Train Station. The taxi ride from SFO is approximately $20, and from the Train Station approximately $8.

Suitable for candle-light dinners, the treehouse has french doors, stained glass and other tasteful, yet whimsical appointments. Rocking chair and other seating on tree house deck with view of the Bay. Fluffy down comforters/pillows and passive, eco-friendly heating to keep you warm and toasty.

There is a queen size bed in the sleeping loft, a twin size lower level bed/daybed. Serenity for 1, ideal for 2 or 3 and sleeps 4 if you reeeeally like each other. Occasionally exceptions can be made for families with 3 small children. The treehouse is not suitable for 2 couples.

Accommodation includes indoor shower & kitchenette -dedicated to our Treehouse guests only - in nearby lower level of family log cabin home. A short, private & lit path (approx 30 steps) leads to the entry of the private kitchenette & shower. We provide fluffy towels & shampoo/conditioner. The kitchenette amenities include a small fridge, coffeemaker, electric water kettle, tea, small microwave, toaster, hot-plate, table & chairs, sink --
Although we are not a typical Bread & Breakfast, In the mornings, a light, continental style breakfast consisting of breads/fruit/coffee/tea/milk/orange juice is placed on the table in the kitchenette for you to enjoy at your leisure.

Come have a magical stay & enjoy your “inner primate!"

  • Doug and Linda are wonderful hosts, the tree house is adorable, and the dawn chorus of birds is spectacular – but it's a bit too pricey in my opinion. I'd only do this again if it was significantly cheaper.

  • What a unique experience! I brought my daughter here for her Purity Weekend to have "the talk" as she enters Jr. High. There couldn't have been a better environment than the treehouse as we bridged that gap from child to young lady. It took her just a few hours to leave the pre-teen attitude at home and give herself permission to let down her guard in this environment. The treehouse had books, fabulous positive sayings, etc. I was so excited to see "The Giving Tree" displayed on the bookshelf and my daughter and I read it together and it brought a great discussion. Fruit & breads magically appeared, beautifully presented, each morning in the kitchenette - adding to the whimsical experience for my daughter. Our considerate hosts even thought to have earplugs in the upper loft in case some have challenges sleeping with the squirrels running across the roof. We, however, loved it and didn't use them.

  • We absolutely LOVED our stay here!! My husband and I brought our three young boys and our night in the treehouse was magical:) super cute setup, cozy (even in the rain we go while we were there), and just perfect for a different family getaway. Thank you Linda and Doug! We will definitely be back!

  • Our overnight stay at Doug and Linda's Treehouse was all that we hoped it would be! We arrived in time to catch the amazing view of the bay and woke to see the sun rise. Doug and Linda were perfect hosts and made our stay very comfortable! They built an incredible treehouse and I love the decor with every niche something to make it cozy. Treat yourself and stay here! And make time for the deck!

  • This is the most amazing Airbnb place in the SF area! The treehouse is well built, clean and very charming, and even though the treehouse is on Linda and Doug's property, you feel like you are miles away from anyone. I would highly recommend booking this for a romantic night out of the city.

  • Doug and Linda were great hosts! What more is there to say about this treehouse and the Studebakers?? We had an amazing stay, the weather worked out beautifully with a storm passing through just before we arrived! We enjoyed having a little photoshoot on the property and everything it had to offer. Can't say enough. Highly recommended.

  • Staying in the treehouse was a magical experience. We happened to find the treehouse a day prior to our arrival in San Francisco. Linda was very helpful and responded to my information request within minutes! Hours later we were in the treehouse eating cookies, drinking wine, and watching the sun set over the bay. There is heating in the treehouse, so we were incredibly comfortable throughout the night. Truly the best way to start of our vacation in San Francisco. We walked down to the cute town (about a 30 min walk) and was easily able to use Lyft to get us to the BART the next morning.

  • My daughter and I had a great time. Would love to visit again.

Building Treehouses
Linda and I love nature, travel and meeting other people. Through Airbnb we’ve found we are connected with other travelers in a very special way. It’s great to share a few moments and as hosts to provide a unique and private accommodation for them. We are also happy to share our insights about the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area which we call home. We built this magical treehouse over a decade ago, respecting the stately Coast Live Oak in which it is securely floated. Over the years it has served our family, friends and this amazing tree quite well. We had no idea that it would bring such joy to so many interesting people from around the globe, but we are delighted by this. And now we are pleased to share our back 3 bedroom bungalow home with larger families for gatherings and as a convenient, secluded space from which to explore the Bay Area. We invite you to come share the magic! Doug and Linda
