About this listing
1 double room in a Cedar home on the unique and alternative Dangar Island.
Nestled in amongst the trees, it's a world away from the city, and a rather special place - come and check it out.
1 double room in a Cedar home on the unique and alternative Dangar Island. The stay is hosted by Nina, who lives full time in the house, and who'll share a story or two as well as pointing you in the direction of the wide spectrum of local colour.
This is a 'home away from home' setup, with a nice shared bathroom, shower and kitchen available. There's a large deck outside, along with a drinks fridge and even an outdoor piano, if the mood takes you!
If you're coming Thurs through Sun (lunch only on Sunday), the local club serves good food, otherwise the only shop has some supplies to self cater, or be organised and bring your own.
Bring your stuff on the ferry, which departs regularly from Brooklyn, and costs $6.70 per person each way. There's plenty of parking in Brooklyn, though it can get busy on weekends.
If you have a lot stuff to carry up the hill, you may find the island's buggy service useful. It is $5.50 per adult and a friendly local will get you and all your belongings to the right house. Ring in advance to book it so that it will greet you at the ferry wharf. (Contact us for the phone number).
Dangar Island sits on the Hawkesbury River, just one hour north of Sydney. Nina's place is up the hill, a short stroll away from the beach, coffee shop and bowling club. Nestled in amongst the trees, it's a world away from the city, and a rather special place - come and check it out.
Very hospitable, helpful and up for a chat. Nina couldn't do enough for us. So helpful and full of recommendations.
While not really the romantic-ish, first-night-away-from-kids night we were hoping for, it was still very comfortable and a lovely friendly place to stay.
Dangar is a lovely remote, little community within easy reach of Sydney.
We will be back.
The host was gracious, considerate and helpful. She would chat with us, but gave space when we wanted it. The place was comfortable and a home away from home. The place was amongst the trees giving a feeling of a tree house. We liked the deck which was lit by Nina every evening with candles- a perfect place to spend the evening. We enjoyed the stay and would recommend
We were given a great welcome and Nina was a memorable host.
Both Charlotte and Nina made sure we knew they were waiting and contactable by phone.
The room was big and roomy! The house was lovely with a huge sunny deck and water views. Nina was hospitable and ready for a chat always.
Reasonably priced with an extremely gracious host, we had a very comfortable stay at Nina's Place on Dangar Island. Would highly recommend for a quick and affordable weekend getaway.
Great stay! Nina was welcoming and it was a home away from home. Already planning another stay. Dangar island was out first retreat in a long time. Good rustic throw back to yesteryear with modern day conveniences. Thank you.
Dangar Island is an amazing and unique place to visit, very close to Sydney. Staying two nights was perfect. Definitely very glad to have visited. Nina is a very chatty and helpful host - be prepared for some conversation!
