The Space

Perfect for private getaway or time out. Our studio is now available for guests as a generous one bedroom self contained apartment. We live on site in the separate main house.

We are situated on a 1 acre (.4 hectare) block that is being planted with fruit trees according to permaculture principles. We eat our own veggies a lot of the time. We keep bees and chickens.

The studio is detached from the main house but joined by a short covered walkway, so it is quite private.

You can be left to self cater or breakfast and meals can be provided at reasonable cost. Give us plenty of notice if you want to eat in, so we can cook something nice :-)

We will do pick ups and delivery to the Gold Coast airport at $20 per trip. Advice on local restaurants is offered if you don't want to accept the eat in offer at $10/head/meal or cook for yourself. Breakfast is $5 per head. Wine $3 a glass or BYO, home brew is in and on the house.

Pets aren't out of the question, it just depends on being outdoors and non destructive, so will discuss that option if required.

Wireless internet is available for standard email functions (we have a limited download package so no movie downloads). The studio is just on the edge of wireless reception so you could have to come a little closer. We can also offer free local and national calls. There is a sound system and TV or you can play some vinyl, audio tapes, CDs and radio.

We are happy for you to use the washing machine if you need to catch up on washing while on the road.

We are:
5 minutes from Murwillumbah,
2 minutes from the Tweed Regional Art Gallery and cafe with the new Margaret Olley exhibition
45 minutes from Byron Bay, 35 mins the Gold Coast and the unspoilt Tweed Coast beaches
1.5 hours south of Brisbane

Be aware that you could hear cows gentling lowing on the distance hill, kookaburra's do signal the approach of dawn and the household chickens punctuate the day with news of the arrival on another egg.

In "other property reviews" you will see the comments of guests that stayed with us in Canberra ACT so while those references relate to that house the service is the same.

Dunbible - wotzat? "Aboriginal. Refers to djunbi tree, with suffix following (-ible) indicating there were many of these trees there. Also: a creek at the foot of a high mountain, is a descriptive rather than literal translation. (Richmond Tweed Regional Library. 1984)."

Interaction with Guests

As little or as much as you like. The studio is very private and not near our living areas.

The Neighborhood

Quite semi rural neighborhood. Sometimes cattle noises across the valley, the odd kookaburra or other birds.

Getting around

Not ideal without a car although we have had guests that walked to town (50 min) when we weren't able to drop them off.

  • We only stayed one night but it was very pleasant and relaxing. The área is beautiful and the studio is fantastic. It has everything you could need and we enjoyed very much listening to Graig's old records!

  • A very quick visit for a wedding in the area. The hosts seemed friendly and the studio was nice and comfy, with everything we needed. Wish we had more time to spend exploring the beautiful countryside!

  • We enjoyed a very quiet, peaceful visit. Craig and Viv were very warm and welcoming.

  • This was just what we hoped for, and very convenient to the purpose of our visit, the Tweed Regional Gallery. The situation was quiet with views of the scenic area. We were satisfied in every way.

  • Craig (email hidden) who found out about local kayaking for us before we trqvelled and extended a warm welcome to us on our arrival. He is a very friendly person. He is also kind. I left my neck friendly pillow behind and he is arranging to get it closer to home so I can collect it conveniently.

The accommodation is private with a comfortable bed and the cooking facilities are a boon.

  • Craig (email hidden) and shared mangoes and garden produce with us with great generosity. We loved the privacy of the self-contained unit, which met our needs in every way. We'll definitely be back!

  • Lovely spacious flat in a beautiful location surrounded, among other things, by kangaroos, dolphins swimming in a river in the morning and flying foxes around sunset.
Craig and his wife are very nice and friendly; they even provided complimentary self-made/grown beers, honey, mangoes, oranges etc.
The flat has most facilities you might be looking for.
We felt like at home and as if the hosts were our long-term neighbours we could count on.
    Definitely recommended.

  • We had 3 enjoyable nights in Craig's self-contained unit. Our hosts were very accommodating and generously gave us some of their own produce, including; eggs honey and mangoes. We unfortunately did not spend much time swapping yarns with them, so maybe next time we will do that. The unit was large and was very private. The views and neighborhood are excellent and was very peaceful. All in all, we can highly recommend Craig's self-contained unit.

  • Our stay with Craig and Viv was delightful.
The cottage was clean, the welcome was warm and the location was, for us, perfect.
The dinner that Craig and Viv cooked, turkey with roast vegies and cranberry sauce, was perfect, as was the company and the wine.
This Airbnb accommodation must be one of the best we have had during our 10 month travel around Australia..
