About this listing
A self contained unit in a quiet semi rural location. Generous space and located far enough away from the owners residence to be private but close enough to be able to ask for anything extra that is needed.
Kitchenette, gas cooktop, electric oven, microwave and fridge. Bathroom with shower, handbasin and toilet.
Perfect for private getaway or time out. Our studio is now available for guests as a generous one bedroom self contained apartment. We live on site in the separate main house.
We are situated on a 1 acre (.4 hectare) block that is being planted with fruit trees according to permaculture principles. We eat our own veggies a lot of the time. We keep bees (honey and native), geese and chickens.
The studio is detached from the main house but joined by a short covered walkway, so it is quite private.
You can be left to self cater or breakfast and meals can be provided at reasonable cost. Give us plenty of notice if you want to eat in, we can usually cook something nice.
We will do pick ups and delivery to the Gold Coast airport at $20 per trip. Advice on local restaurants is offered if you don't want to accept the eat in offer at $10/head/meal or cook for yourself. Breakfast is $5 per head. Wine $3 a glass or BYO, home brew is in and on the house.
Pets aren't out of the question, it just depends on being outdoors and non destructive, so will discuss that option if required.
Wireless internet is available for standard email functions (we have a limited download package so no movie downloads). The studio is just on the edge of wireless reception so you could have to come a little closer. We can also offer free local and national calls. There is a sound system and TV or you can play some vinyl, audio tapes, CDs and radio.
We are happy for you to use the washing machine if you need to catch up on washing while on the road.
5 minutes from Murwillumbah,
2 minutes from the Tweed Regional Art Gallery and cafe with the new Margaret Olley exhibition
45 minutes from Byron Bay, 35 mins the Gold Coast and the unspoilt Tweed Coast beaches
1.5 hours south of Brisbane
NB June - Dec 2015: DUE TO AN UPGRADE ON THE BRIDGE on Mistral Rd, the directions below have to be amended for a few months. The host will provide the revised directions after booking, please ask if we forget. It is about a 12 minute (7 km) detour through town and in the other end of our street. If the purpose of your stay is to see the Tweed Regional Gallery, which is normally only 1 km away, this will add a 15 minute trip to get there.
Be aware that you could hear cows gentling lowing on the distance hill, kookaburra's do signal the approach of dawn, the geese may honk occasionally and the household chickens punctuate the day with news of the arrival on another egg.
Dunbible - wotzat? "Aboriginal. Refers to djunbi tree, with suffix following (-ible) indicating there were many of these trees there. Also: a creek at the foot of a high mountain, is a descriptive rather than literal translation. (Richmond Tweed Regional Library. 1984)."
Self contained and spacious unit, grazing in the veggie garden and use of our laundry if needed.
Interaction with Guests
As little or as much as you like. The studio is very private and not near our living areas.
Quite semi rural neighborhood. Sometimes cattle noises across the valley, the odd kookaburra or other birds. We have chickens and geese.
Not ideal without a car although we have had guests that walked to town (50 min) when we weren't able to drop them off.
Non smoking accommodation. (Outside smoking is ok)
There is limited download, internet available for basic email functions although the wireless doesn't reach the studio.
Craig and Viv made us feel very welcome for the short stay we had. Their home had a lovely cosy farm feel to it and the scenery surrounding was beautiful. The accommodation had everything we needed and was well set up.
Enjoyed our time in Dunbible, would love to visit again.
We had a wonderful stay in Craig and Viv's cosy, comfortable accommodation. It totally lived up to our expectations and we left feeling relaxed and refreshed from staying in such a beautiful environment. Craig and Viv were the perfect hosts and we felt completely at home. The Tweed Valley Art Gallery is a must!
Fabulous views, lovely welcoming hosts, friendly geese, spacious relaxing studio - what more could you ask for?!
We had s really good experience at Craig's place! It was a very nice escape from the busy city life. The surroundings are really nice, the house more than you can expect (especially the fresh eggs and home brewed beers :)). I can recommend this place to everyone!
Craig and Viv are very welcoming and respectful of your privacy however are always on hand to suggest places to see and things to do. The voucher for a local café was much appreciated and it was the best Chai I have had!
Murbah is a lovely town and much less busy than the coastal towns in the area.
Thanks Craig and Viv :)
Craig and Viv are very hospitable and generous hosts who helped to make our all too brief trip to Murwillumbah even more enjoyable.
The flat is both spacious and comfortable with enough 'basics' to get you started,as well as some extra treats from the garden.
The mango and passionfruit were much appreciated.
We liked sampling the home brew too!
The geese were a special attraction and a great source of entertainment!
Craig provided us with all the information we needed for cafes etc in Murwillumbah- The Modern Grocer is excellent, and the Art Gallery outstanding, as well as being set in beautiful countryside with views to Mt Warning.
In all a lovely place to stay and we are more than happy to recommend it.
Craig and Viv made us feel very welcome. They even accommodated our late arrival. The place was very spacious and quiet, but still close to everything you need.
My husband and I had a lovely stay and enjoyed the fresh eggs from their own chicken every morning.
We will be definitely coming around for coffee, when we are in the area again.
Thanks for a wonderful stay.
