Perfect Relaxation Spot Near I-90

House - Private room · Niemeyer Road, Erie, PA 16509, United States

The Space

We are located in Erie, PA just a few minutes off I-90. We are two hours from Buffalo, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. In the summer Presque Isle beaches are 20 minutes away. Winter skiing is 25 minutes away from Peek N Peak in Clymer, NY. Erie has great theater, a beautiful zoo, Waldameer amusement park, Tom Ridge Center, Erie Museum, Splash Lagoon water park, and beautiful sunsets on Lake Erie.

We have a wonderful home that is close to everything but feels like you're in the middle of nowhere! The lower level offers privacy and space for 2 to 6 people. There are two private bedrooms and a pull out couch in a living area as well as a private bathroom. It does require the ability to use stairs (there are about 15-20). There is a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot.

We have a deck that overlooks Mill Creek. It is a restful experience!

There is plenty to do here, but it is also a great overnight stop to split up a long trip.

$75 for one bed and $100 for 2 beds.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • I traveled with my friends, totally 5 people, to Erie in March 2014. Ellie and Mark are wonderful hosts. They responded messages very fast and they are very helpful with any kind of questions. The experience living there is very nice. They prepared towels and some extra toothbrushes for us. The dog is very cute and friendly. Overall, they are wonderful hosts!!

  • You have the entire downstairs which is a clean and spacious 2 bedrooms with living room containing two couches and a library of books. There are some things people should know. It clearly states there is a dog, so if you have allergies be aware of that. I stayed for a week and missed a few things. The aged analog TV had only fair reception. I stayed during bowl week (one of the few things I watch) and missed high quality TV. There is also not a separate thermostat for you to regulate your own temperature if that is important to you. I am from Florida and was there in January and it was very comfortable.
If you like privacy it is important to note that although the view out back is nice, there is no covering of any kind over the large glass doors to the living room. Also, there is not a private entrance and although Mark and Ellie are trustworthy and the house is locked, some might find (as I did) it strange that you cannot lock your area of the house. This was my first airbnb experience, so maybe that isn't strange.

  • We were Airbnb first-timers this weekend, and our stay with the Tanenbaum's was just perfect! The accomodations were exactly what we needed, and the little touches of hospitality (like filtered water and complimentary toothbrusthes, just in case...) really convinced us that Airbnb is the way to go ;)

Both Mark and Ellie are fascinating people and the consummate hosts; we couldn't be happier with our stay!

  • Ellie and Mark were excellent hosts. We were looking for a place to stay last minute during our road trip and they were quick to respond. They were also very accommodating, as we were not able to get to their place until well after midnight. The house itself was really nice. Unique architecture and cool artwork inside. Charlie, our dog, really enjoyed the wooded back yard. We took a walk in the morning and the setting is very serene. There is a small stream that adds to the charm. We would stay there again in a heart beat.

  • I was so fortunate to stay with Ellie and Mark on my first air bnb experience. Their home is close and easy to find off of I-90. The accommodations were perfect - clean, spacious and comfortable.
Ellie welcomed me into her home and I felt like we were old friends within minutes! My only regret is That i arrived too late to enjoy the lovely outdoor setting. I would definitely stay there again!

  • We were warmly greeted by this lovely family and felt right at home. It was an added perk to meet smart, creative people. There dog Montana was a welcome bonus as our dog passed away a few months ago. They have an extensive collection of books which I was excited to look through. We have more than enough space and privacy to enjoy our stay. We were able to bring our own movies to watch after a long day of shopping. Their home is so quiet and tranquil with an amazing view of the forest like backyard. Having a morning tea before we started our shopping blitz was topped off by the beautiful sight of chipmunks through the glass sliding doors that overlook the backyard. Need to recommend this place to others. Ellie and Mark have great SOULS that are emulated by their home!

Ellie is a school nurse at a local elementary school. Mark has recently opened a theater called PACA where local artists/actors/musicians perform. We enjoy meeting people from all over the world. We also love to travel and we hope you will feel "at home" during your stay. There are many fun local spots we can tell you about if you plan to venture out.
