The place is great, comfortable and quiet. David and Yuriko are very nice and welcoming. They gave us many tips about the island and things to do. Moreover, they lent us beach towels, umbrellas and seats. They are also accomodating, we came very late and they waited for us.

This is a beautiful house, overlooking the ocean. It was peaceful and quiet. And, it is well located to getting around Kona. The hosts are most gracious.

We definitely enjoyed our stay at Ipu Hale. David and Yuriko were friendly and helpful. They walked us through the house to make sure we knew where everything was and how everything worked. The house itself is gorgeous! Great location with restaurant and grocery store within 5 minute drive. The view from the patio is impressive and the sounds of nature is wonderful. You can enjoy the sunset in the jacuzzi at the patio. Thank you David and Yuriko for sharing such a great house with us. Hope to see you again!

Not as Advertised: Disappointing Misrepresentation As much as my husband and I wanted to just forget about our stay, after careful and considerate thought, we comprised the following list of problems and misrepresentations. Please note: The list of problems and misrepresentations were all discussed with David’s daughter, January, because David and Yuriko were not on the premises (out of town) during our stay. The following list of problems made our stay an encumbrance; they devalued what was supposed to be a carefree and relaxing vacation. Here’s what future guests should know and, what needs to be fixed, before someone else pays this premium price. 1. January, David’s daughter, was at the rental apartment when we first arrived, and during our walk-through—yes, she did casually mention (minimized) the gecko’s that we might see and their occasional droppings. This was a gross misrepresentation. The geckos and their droppings were pervasive in every room. Bugs and geckos scurry when we enter the front door—or entered any of the rooms. We had to make the beds (on vacation) so to avoid sleeping with gecko droppings. After we expressed our discomfort, January, wrote via a text message. “It’s one of the ‘joys’ of living in the tropics.” Our reply: If bugs and geckos are such a joy, perhaps it should be transparent and mentioned on the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) listing. 2. Also, during our walkthrough, January did mention that we might see a little condensation on the floor coming from the refrigerator. Once again, she minimized the problem. The refrigerator waterline had an ongoing leak that oft-times spread to the middle of kitchen floor and demanded constant cleaned up throughout our stay. It was overtly noticeable by the discoloration and condition of the floor—this has been occurring for some time. The refrigerator water filter was old and unusable and we had to wait for January to bring a filter for the Brita and then had to keep filling to get purified water. 3. All the ceiling fans, in every room made so much clanging/ buzzing noise that we had to keep them off. It gets hot mid-day and you won’t find any shades in the living room. 4. Internet works only in the living room. January did know about this, but continue to do nothing to correct it. Just another—I’m so sorry! Also, the picture in the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) advertisement that looks like a TV/ system—is not. A person would expect that a system would be there. It’s just a large projection screen with no projector with no way to operate the stereo. These are both misrepresentations that were not made transparent in the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) advertisement. They should be. Lastly, the view is beautiful. That said, don’t expect to sit on the lanai and watch the sunset. Why? The mosquitoes will leave no portion of your body unexplored.
