The apartment was a great place to spend a week on our third time back to La Paz in a month. Very cozy and warm (which is important for those cold Bolivian nights). The kitchen is well stocked and a nice place for cooking meals. With a large market across the street, you can buy the freshest produce and meat, couldnt ask for a more perfect location. The area is very nice, out of the way of heavy traffic and on the opposite side of town of the very touristy area but also very short walks to access downtown and the markets. The hosts were nice and accommodating and the building was very quiet. I absolutely recommend this apartment, the price is unbeatable as well.
Put simply, the apartment would be a great find in Melbourne. Spacious, clean and comfortable! We stayed 6 nights in la paz and were much in need of a break from the hostels and hotels we had been staying at. The kitchen was easy to cook in, we had to ask for a baking dish but were provided with one to cook our meal. The shower is amazing. The bed was comfortable and warm with okay pillows. The whole place was a very comfortable set up with the added bonus of great wifi and cable. We didn't deal with the hosts much but when we did they were lovely and helped us get a taxi when leaving. It really was a home away from home!
Very nice and cozy apartment in a convenient location. Our hosts were extremely accommodating and helped us feel welcome in La Paz.
This is a rare find in La Paz! I am already planning for my return trip when I am back here in a few months. I have often traveled to La Paz over recent years, and I recently discovered these great apartments which this family is quickly bringing on-line and redesigning with nice details, colors, furniture and genuine care. These are a really great option and are a wonderful value in La Paz. In my case, for the cost of an inexpensive hotel room, I got a two bedroom apartment with full kitchen, living room, dining room table, flat-screen TV with cable. There are not many similar options in the city and in my opinion, there is absolutely no comparison in this price range.
I have been staying in a lot of airbnb places over the last months, and if you have the basics of what you need - comfort, cleanliness and security in your accomodations - what really makes the experience when you are in a city that isn't your own are the people. I have never - not only on airbnb - but in my life - met nicer and more generous people than the family that has these apartments.
First, they have lived and traveled extensively ALL around the world themselves, so they understand what it means to be a foreigner in a new place. Example: they not only introduced me to the woman who runs the neighborhood shop and suggested dining options, but when my bank shut down my credit card they lent me money to pay for my lunch! I needed help with a flight reservation - check. Need a lift where we are headed - check? etc., etc. Over and above the call of duty.
Second, they are operating these apartments as if they were for their own family, they are extremely attentive, and are committed to making these new apartments a success. Example: they checked up on me multiple times to see if I needed anything else, had any questions, and they asked for my feedback to keep adding little details to their apartment.
Third, they are just uniquely generous and friendly and genuine. When the apartment ended up full when I wanted to stay for additional days they even offered the guest room in their home!
This family is the real deal.
I have already recommended their places to my parents who will be in Bolivia in three weeks, as well as other colleagues who will be traveling to La Paz soon. I myself am planning my return when I will be back for a 1-2 month stay in La Paz in a few months.
This is a very difficult apartment to review. The host was fantastic and is the best host we have had through air BnB. There were some issues with the apartment but the host resolved these issues almost immediately. We also found ourselves stranded in La Paz because of a public holiday, with no bus to take us to our next destination and the host went our of her way to get us a private taxi after she had called the bus terminal several times to confirm there was definitely no bus.
The apartment is also great, light, clean, bright and spacious.
The area is central and an easy walk to many tourist attractions and there is a fabulous market across the road. The area did have a lot of good take-way restaurants, think more good home cooking take-away rather than trashy fast food. However the sit down restaurants and bars for the evening are a short taxi ride.
Only downsides were a very noisy bedroom as the apartment is on a busy road. I don't think this would be a problem if you were staying for 3 nights, we stayed for over a week and it did become a problem. I understand the owner is looking to replace the windows as this is a new apartment. I also think there may have been some apartments at the back of the building which would be better for a longer stay.
