Funky, large 2BR - on Hip West Side

Apartment - Entire home/apt · College Street, Toronto, ON M6H 1B5, Canada

Large, funky 2 bedroom in a classic old Toronto walk-up apartment. Located in a great west side neighbourhood, close to downtown and right on the transit lines. Fantastic restaurants and cafes nearby. This is the real Toronto feel.

The Space

A large 2 bedroom classic Toronto walk-up apartment, above a store front, in an older building in the College and Dufferin area. It is a cool space, with lots of character, situated in a sweet location with great cafes, shops, restaurants and galleries close by, and public transit right outside the door. It is a three story building the apartment is on the top floor with two flights of stairs to walk up, one flight inside the apartment, the other outside the front door of the apartment. There is a fully equipped kitchen, staple goods available, and a gas stove, complimentary coffee and tea is always available,. A single bathroom with shower, a comfortable living room (you could put an fifth person on the sofa in a pinch - it doesn't fold out, but wide enough to sleep one) (email hidden) connection. You are welcome to bring your pet, and there is a lovely big park - Dufferin Grove - a couple of blocks away. It is a 10 minute car ride to the heart of downtown, 15-20 by tram which runs right outside the door. There is a city parking lot behind the building, the fee is $8 per 24 hours with in and out access. and restrictive street parking around the neighbourhood on the streets, overnight is free.
The bedrooms contain one Queen and one Double, both are new with comfortable pillow tops mattresses, high quality linen, and towels are supplied. There is no cable tv, but local digital channels ie. CBC, CTV etc. There is a hdmi cable to connect your computer to the TV. There is a stereo in the kitchen with a mini-plug to attach to your device.
This is a rental of my space when I travel for work, and contains my personal effects. There is an empty dresser in each bedroom and a spare closet for storage for guests. A family lives in the apartment below so I prefer guests who can respect this environment and keep the noise to a respectful level.

  • Very nice and huge place to stay in Toronto. Via streetcar in 10 min to downtown, chinatown,...

  • Where to start? ;-). First of all, the apartment is greatly located, It's only 10 minutes from downtown by streetcar. Also, it is near to a lot of shops, some of them open 24hrs. The place is huge, it have enough space to accommodate a family of 5, little children included. It's calm too, you will sleep quietly and you won't even hear the neighbours. And I go on and on ;-)
It was my first booking with Airbnb, and I was very pleased. I highly recommend Lauren's place.

  • the apartment was great, clean, very spacious and with all amenities. The location is in a very nice neighborhood with lots of restaurant and bar.
unfortunately Lauren was not present due to vacation but she had organized all the things so that everything goes well and our stay have been perfect.
    I highly recommend it.
    Thanks Lauren.

  • It was my first booking with AirBnB. The apartment is in a great location which was easy to find. Communication with Lauren was very easy. After 10 minutes drive with the tram you reach Downtown Toronto. I enjoyed our time in Toronto and i definitely would book this apartment again.

  • Lauren's place was fantastic! Her description of her apartment was very accurate, no surprises upon arrival. The apartment had all he amenities we needed and the streetcar outside was a huge benefit to our stay as well. The neighborhood is funky and friendly, perfect for a quick bite or something a bit more fancy. I highly recommend Lauren's place if you want to see the real Toronto!

  • Great central location, perfect for our needs! We walked everywhere within Toronto (45 mins to downtown, 10 mins to west Toronto bars and restaurants).

Lauren was an excellent host - very responsive and all the info provided on time.

    Really happy with our choice.

  • Great way to get a feel of the "real" Toronto hidden behind all the Glitz - Lauren's place has a very authentic feel about it; you know you are in a home which has had a lot of love and care in it. Lauren was great to deal with and very understanding of the travails of being a first timer in Toronto at 1am! Highly recommended!

  • The apartment was in a great location, really convenient by public transport to and from the airport and only down the road by street car to Kensington and Chinatown.
The kitchen was well equipped, and the beds comfortable and the apartment felt very spacious!

  • Interesting place. Seems like a transitional neighborhood but I never felt unsafe. Helpful and friendly neighbors. The place was pitch black dark when we arrived around 10 pm and the stairways along with the apt itself were completely dark so we were scared when we were trying to figure out how to unlock the door and turn on lights in the apt. Several lights were not working so it was a struggle to find light. Eventually, we did and that was better. It was also hot as Hades in there! There was 1 AC unit (in the front bedroom) but the rest of the large apt was very hot. There was also a room that connected the kitchen to the fire escape area that was full of recycling materials, pictures, sofa, books, papers, signs, and other stuff.
It was a clean apartment, so that's important. Lauren also left some things for us to use, like shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. It's a huge place and good for several people but the kitchen and bathroom are tiny.

About
I work in the arts for an independent film distribution organization, I travel internationally alot for work, mainly to film festivals - top three favourite cities of the past year the "B List" - Bangalore, Buenos Aires, Berlin. I love hosting guests, and can help you navigate the city and assist you with finding fun events, especially if you love art. I am mature and respectful of the spaces in which I stay and leave them as I found them, and have the same approach as a host.
