Very clean, nice 10x14" foot bedroom, brand new Queen bed, attached bath with full shower/bathtub. Just added a new hotel style refrigerator to the room so you can keep your drinks/leftovers and snacks fresh and cold. 5-10 minute walk to some of the nicest beaches on Maui as well as restaurants, shopping, nightlife, bars, and a great healthfood store called "Hawaiian Moons" (all within 5-15 minutes walk through a great neighborhood near the ocean).
Access to laundry washer and dryer permitted.
Super High Speed Wireless internet access(Roadrunner Turbo) and cable TV in room.
The rest of the house is mine (I live by myself) and I occasioally host mellow dinners/BBQ's with usually just one other person for the evening. I only rent out this single room upstairs so if I happen to be home it is only me and possibly a dinner/movie friend in the house otherwise.
I am a mid-thirties, professional restaurant/bar owner (recently sold them), and like travelling/meeting fellow travellers. ;)
The house is constantly cooled with central air conditioning set to (78-80f) and the house is also equipped with a water softener/conditioner that eliminates the chlorine and makes your skin and hair quite nice... I also have a reverse osmosis filter at the kitchen sink you are welcome to refill your water bottles at with commercial grade filtered water.
It's a nice place in a great neighborhood just 15 minutes walk from the resorts in Wailea (the "Beverly Hills" of Maui), you will enjoy your stay and choice in this neighborhood...
The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful and a great place for an evening stroll. Down the road is Kamaole III beach and Keawakapu beach (5-10 minute walk) and is a great place to have a glass of wine and watch the beautiful sunsets over the ocean and whalewatch or jump in for a swim.
House has a covered 2nd story deck with ocean view, a BBQ which I am willing to share occasionally if you'd like to grill something outside (although I don't share my kitchen and you'd have to think of this accommodation pretty much as an inexpensive hotel room where you can safely keep your belongings, take showers, and sleep while eating meals at the numerous restaurant options nearby.
I have some snorkeling/beach equiptment fishing poles and beach towels which I'd be willing to share during your stay.
I also Scuba Dive and would be willing to take you on some great dives if interested and my schedule permits. Additionally, I have a full array of camping equipment and love camping in the rainforests of Hana, and would consider taking the right people on an overnight camping trip to the Kipahulu campgrounds (7 Sacred pools area) if interested...
I've lived on Maui for 16 years, know all the best stuff to do, and can tell you all the best activites/hikes and beaches to see from a long term local's perspective.
As a restauranteur, I am quite a food critic, and can also advise you the best dining/night life on the island. ;)
ALOHA and I guarantee you will not regret your decision should you decide this is a good fit for you and are the type who likes to enjoy the local restaurants when traveling as opposed to cooking while on vacation... I'm an easygoing person and the only thing I'm not well set up for is sharing my kitchen- so please make sure this fits your needs and otherwise it's a safe and clean place in a good location and we'll probably hardly even see eachother except when you come and go.
P.S. My calender here on AirBnB is always updated, and accurately reflects the room's availability- If you see the dates are open then feel free to book them right away, I try to pick people on a first come, first serve basis when there are multiple enquiries for the same dates...
The place is very clean, bug free and not awkward even if you end up coming or going at odd hours due to the fact the room is located nearest the front door so you won't really have to cross past my living area - and I spend almost all my at home time trading stocks/foreign exchange out on the deck on my computer anyway... :)
Gabe is a great host! The room and bathroom are perfect, clean and in a great shape. There is a closet and a fridge in the room. I walked mostly everywhere and took the public bus. Although the range of the public bus is limited. I would recommend to rent a car.
Gabe is a really nice guy and a great host. His home is located in a fantastic area, minutes from the beach and all the restaurants and attractions in Kihei. The room is functional and clean and if your trip involves you discovering the island for most of the day, this is going to be a perfect situation for you. Definitely recommended.
Gabe is one of the nicest guys I ever met. He and his friend Erika did everything they could to make our stay pleasant.
I suggested to him, and he agreed, that the room would be a bit more comfortable if there were a reading light by the bed, and a table with drawers in the room.
Thanks again Gabe for a great visit to Maui!
Gabe and the house were great! Very comfortable room. Beautiful home in a truly great location. Close to the beach and what you need within a short walk. Very glad I chose this room over the expensive hotel option. Couldn't ask for a better host. Very helpful and accommodating. Felt completely comfortable, would stay again if I had the option for sure!
The location is great and the room is nice, very clean. It is perfect for someone who only needs a bed to sleep. Not the best place if you plan on cooking - Gabriel does not want the guests to use the kitchen/living space too much. Read the house rules first - he is very strict about some of them (leaving your shoes outside, no food in the room, etc). But, as a consequence, the room and apartment were very clean. Gabriel offered us to keep our luggage on the day we checked out, that was very nice of him. Overall, a good place for sleeping in a great location. Walking distance from Kamaole beach and some smaller stores in Kihei on S. Kihei road.
My boyfriend and me stayed a week with Gabriel and it was fantastic! He gave us tips where to eat and where to find the nicest beaches. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and we were positively surprised by having our own bathroom! We definitely would come back and stay with Gabriel again! No bad surprises!!!
The location in a quiet residential area in south Kihei seemed separate from the tourist areas yet close to everything and extremely convenient. It was great waking up in a quiet neighborhood. The room was just as described, simple and clean with a comfortable bed, mini fridge and bathroom. Gabe was pleasant and unobtrusive. When I needed directions or had some questions about the area he was very helpful. I couldn't have had a better visit and would return without a second thought.
The house is nice, good location if you have the car.The room is too small for 2 persons.
Thanks for the nice feedback! I will say that the bedroom portion is 10x14" as stated in the description, and although not huge, is usually fine for a couple looking for a place to sleep, shower and keep their luggage. Some people have done fine without a vehicle, as there are stores, great beaches, and bars/restaurants all within 5-20 minutes walk. It's definitely recommended to have a car on Maui in general however, due to everything being so spread out. :) Happy travels!
Gabriel definitely has a nice place. It was very clean and comfortable. Some perks Gabriel may have neglected to mention are the running water fountain's ambiance, a nice deck, and great shower pressure. Gabriel was a generous host and gave me some tips about snorkeling (below grassy knoll above shore at kam III). If you are into diving (like me), Gabriel's place is ideal for trips departing the Kihei boat ramp (12 minute walk), and his place is in good walking distance from the other parks, beaches, restaurants, bars, and stores in Kihei (.5-2 miles). Gabriel gives you your privacy but is also around to chat about island life, which is nice if you are traveling solo. It beats the heck out of a resort--for price and experience of everyday life on Maui.
