Description

The space

Cozy, quaint loft/studio apartment located in Carnelian Bay, about five miles north of Tahoe City and west of Kings Beach, or about 20 minutes from Squaw Valley and Alpine, and Northstar. The studio has two futon-style twin beds and a slightly larger bed not quite full size for any combination of 1-4 guests. Perfect for a family. The apartment features a small balcony with a lovely view of the lake to enjoy a glass of wine, or to barbecue. The apartment also has a kitchenette, with sink, microwave, small refrigerator, toaster oven, two burner electric stovetop, coffee maker, and full kitchenware. Bathroom and shower also include lovely tree filled views.

The apartment has Roku with Netflix, but if that's not your thing, it is filled wall to wall with books on every subject, as well as a sturdy desk to pen your deepest thoughts. Perfect retreat for bibliophiles and aspiring novelists.

No lake access at the apartment, but about five houses down there is a homeowner's association pier accessible with a key. There is also a bbq and large beach to enjoy.

If the ten minute drive to Tahoe City or Kings Beach seems overwhelming, Carnelian Bay has a few restaurants, including Gar Woods, where you can eat on their beautiful deck overlooking the lake, and a delightful mini-golf course that the kids won't forget.

Guest access

Guests will have access to a lakefront lot with pier, beaches, and BBQ (about five houses away). Main house and pier are off-limits.

Interaction with guests

I am usually living at the main house, and always available by phone.

We loved how comfortable and pretty the space was. Very open, lots of windows, plenty of room, and great location. Very private and cozy. We plan to stay here again in the future.

Great place. Close to Squaw and can see the lake from the balcony. Lots of great books and a fun old slot machine game. Great experience.

This place may be located above the garage but is very well laid out and looks and feel just like a cabin one desires when in Tahoe. The listing pictures is spot on to what you get in person and everything there feels like custom designed and so very well thought out. A perfect place for a family with one child looking for an easy place to stay but with amazing style and charm with an added bonus of a view of the lake. Only issue was the radiant heat didn't work the nights we stayed there but luckily Greg was easy to get a hold of and had extra space heaters which warmed the place up. He was even nice enough to give a partial reimbursement for the heater issue proactively which I really appreciate. The location is super convenient to restaurants and ski slopes. We'll definitely return to stay at Greg's chalet.

Greg's cabin is absolutely charming. It is nicely equipped for a comfortable stay, everything was very clean and easily accessible. The cabin is located in a very central location which makes getting around Tahoe easy too. Greg also was very communicative and made the check-in process pretty seamless, there was nothing to ask. I was very pleased to stay here and would totally stay here again for a future trip. His collection of books is quite awesome too! Great spot all in all.

We had a great experience! Greg was very nice during the whole process (especially when we had a last- minute issue and had to reschedule the trip). The place was super comfortable, clean and has a beautiful view. We certainly recommend it.

I am a native San Franciscan, still eager to explore the Bay Area and beyond. Sometimes musician, intermittent lawyer, and all around decent fellow.
