Cozy, quaint loft/studio apartment located in Carnelian Bay, about five miles north of Tahoe City and west of Kings Beach, or about 20 minutes from Squaw Valley and Alpine, and Northstar. The studio has two futon-style twin beds and a slightly larger bed not quite full size for any combination of 1-4 guests. Perfect for a family. The apartment features a small balcony with a lovely view of the lake to enjoy a glass of wine, or to barbecue. The apartment also has a kitchenette, with sink, microwave, small refrigerator, toaster, and full kitchenware. Bathroom and shower also include lovely tree filled views.
The apartment has cable TV, but if that's not your thing, it is filled wall to wall with books on every subject, as well as a sturdy desk to pen your deepest thoughts. Perfect retreat for bibliophiles and aspiring novelists.
No lake access at the apartment, but about five houses down there is a homeowner's association pier accessible with a key. There is also a bbq and large beach to enjoy.
If the ten minute drive to Tahoe City or Kings Beach seems overwhelming, Carnelian Bay has a few restaurants, including Gar Woods, where you can eat on their beautiful deck overlooking the lake, and a delightful mini-golf course that the kids won't forget.
Guests will have access to a lakefront lot with pier, beaches, and BBQ (about five houses away). Main house and pier are off-limits.

I am usually living at the main house, and always available by phone.
Please take off your shoes at the entrance, and please no ski boots, skis, bikes, etc. in the apartment. There is room in the entry for those things.
The listing was great! Each night, my wife and I would pick out several books to [start to] read. Every detail of the space was done exceptionally well, and inspired several conversations between us about how we would build a small rustic cabin in the same style some day.
While there was a totally random mixup where the housekeeper had forgotten to clean out the fridge after the previous occupant, Gregory was quick to offer several options for remedying the situation. He also surprised us with a bottle of wine for our trouble, which really left a positive impression with us.
Sometimes crazy random things like that happen when you're staying somewhere, and the way that the host responds to the situation can make all the difference in the world. In this case, our host left absolutely nothing to be desired, and handled everything as I would hope that any host would.
Gregory has created the most amazing studio right on the water. If you love reading there are more books than you could ever want to read. If you love nature then there is no where else we would want to stay. After many trips to Tahoe, we have found our new place to stay.
We had a great experience staying here, it was very neat, clean, comfortable, and private. The location is easy to get to and convenient. Greg was very good about making sure we were happy.
This was the second time we stayed with Gregory and we definitely plan to come back. Everything was well organized and we really enjoyed our time at the house. 5 stars!
This chalet was absolutely gorgeous, way beyond our expectations. We had the best of times spending Christmas in Gregory's chalet.
The decor is tasteful, and there are plenty of books to pick up, read and relax. The kitchen is small but well equipped. The bathroom has underfloor heating which is super cosy.
The process was very smooth and Gregory was always available and provided is with all the info we needed.
It's situated near the Post Office cafe and there's a nice Safeway not too far.
Such a lovely, cozy, and fully equipped cabin studio in Carnelian Bay! Will definitely come back again and again :)
My boyfriend and I spend our anniversary every year at a different cabin. This year, we moved to San Francisco and found this delightful treat. The freeway is a bit distracting in the day time but otherwise it is super cozy. Greg provided clear navigation and even had the heat on before we got there after a cold/rainy drive!

I am a native San Franciscan, still eager to explore the Bay Area and beyond. Sometimes musician, intermittent lawyer, and all around decent fellow.
