About this listing
Our one bedroom apartment is small but charming! It helps that it receives tons of light all day long--perfect for all of our plants. The location is perfect for visiting lots of parts of the city, and we love that we can walk/bike/bus everywhere.
Our bright 1 bedroom apartment is close to everything!
Our apartment is open and bright, includes WiFi, a TV with Netflix, a Wii, and local channels, full kitchen and most kitchen gadgets. We have a queen bed and a full size pull out sofa. Note: there have been some furniture changes since these pictures were taken; futon is now an ikea sofabed, bookshelf has shifted and some other small changesl! Street parking is usually easy to find, especially on weekends, and we are right across from a police station.
Please note: a mix of people live in our building. There are some smokers in the building, and, well, a kind of smelly guy beneath us! The hallway is therefore sometimes unpleasant, but it doesn't penetrate our apartment!
The whole apartment is yours!
Interaction with guests
All the check-in procedures are set up in advance of your stay; that means we will probably never even meet in person.
Other things to note
This is our full-time home and we are comfortable here! However, we have had a large diversity of guests here and they have brought up some points that we want to be upfront about! We want you to be fully informed about what you are getting when you book our apartment.
Denver has a mix of suburban and urban feeling neighborhoods--ours is definitely more urban. The street we live off of, Colfax, has a big mix of characters, including some homeless folks. We have spent lots of time in cities, so we are used to this mix of people and feel totally safe walking around, even late at night. In four years, nobody has bothered us, other than with a request for change or money. We also live directly across from a police station. On nights and weekends, Colfax is a destination for lots of young people, so traffic picks up a bit.
Also, an allergy warning! Two guests have complained about having allergies and we haven't been able to pinpoint what they are from. I am severely allergic to cats, dogs, trees, weeds, grass and really all animals! My sister, who has spent a lot of time here has bad mold allergies and she is always fine here. It might be dust or smoke (the building is not smoke free), or something else discrete. It could also have to do with the altitude (we are at over 5000 ft), which affects everyone differently. If you are sensitive to allergens, maybe this is not the place for you.
The bathroom is old and doesn't offer a lot! In particular, two tiles are missing on the floor and the tub sealant is slightly discolored and 'lumpy' in places. We always scrub it before guests come, so it is clean, we swear! But it's not much to look at.
This is our real home (not just a rental property)! We ask that you treat our things like you would your own. At the end of the day, we try to remember that stuff is just stuff, so if you break a glass or plate or anything, just clean it up please. But it's no big deal :)

We both work as ski instructors at Winter Park Resort and split our time between Denver and the mountain. We are avid travelers and have had the opportunity to stay with great people around the world. We love AirBnB for the great service it provides travelers and because it helps us save up for our next world adventures!
