Lovely & quiet apartment, to recover from nightlife, sightseeing & shopping - which is all within walking distance! I'm a host who is dedicated to hospitality, assisting you anyway I can (see references!). Enjoy your stay in Hamburg! :-D
Welcome to our apartment!
Would you like to be hosted in Hamburg and yet maintain as much flexibility as possible? Do you generally prefer staying with real people instead of the anonymity of hotels? Would you like a map and directions to discover probably the most beautiful city in germany? ...I daresay staying in the apartment of a tourist-guide could be helpful.
The guestroom in our apartment offers you a comfortable 140x200 couch-bed and a single-person wooden bed. You will have all the privacy in your room and free access to our wifi. We have a small (!) bathroom with a shower and you should not mind that we have our towels and toothbrushes in there, too ;-) Of course, we provide fresh bed linen. If you need shampoo, please ask for it. We are always interested in improving our guest room, so your feedback is very welcome.
Some of my favorite restaurants and cafés are a stone throw away, and a popular flea market specialized on antique stuff takes place every saturday - just down the street. As you can see from our reviews, our neighborhood has its own unique character and is worth discovering.
All in all,
the location here is outstanding for travelers that like to be able to explore Hamburg per pedes (by foot). And secondly, we enjoy living here very much - and we will do our best that you feel at home in Hamburg, too.
You can use our kitchen, too.
Smoking is possible in the backyard garden.
You can use the city bicycles to pedal around town.
Interaction with Guests
I may have a busy schedule. However, I take the time to share what i know about the city and give recommendations - if you like me to do so. In many instances I've joined my guests in one of the restaurants around the corner for dinner and whenever i cook it's usually for 4-6 people anyways ;-)
ALMOST EVERYTHING IS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE.
The apartment is situated near the exhibition halls (messehallen), entrance south. Across the street you can enter the park area 'Planten un Blomen'. We are located in Sternschanze/St.Pauli which is close to the harbor, St. Michaelis Church, University of Hamburg, the Alster, Shopping at Jungfernstieg/Gänsemarkt, the Historic District.
CHARACTERISTIC FOR MY NEIGHBORHOOD? ...alternative, non-mainstream, second-hand & creative shops, surrounded by parks, variety of restaurants and cafés, weekly flea-market for antiques, in walking distance of magic water fountains each night during the summer, close to reeperbahn/st.pauli,… some graffiti, art galleries, close to "gängeviertel"...
If you ever get tired of walking - we have a great public transportation system that gets you everywhere else in no time. Closest stations:
U2 Messehallen (6min to central station),
112 & 36 busses (15-20min to elbe beach),
3 bus (10min o neue flora for musicals)
Other Things to Note
I always appreciate it when guests write a sentence or two about the purpose of their stay or what they'd like to do here. Just to get an idea…
PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE TIME OF YOUR ARRIVAL 2-3 days beforehand. I do not have a fixed check-in time, because i try to meet your travel itinerary if i possibly can.
Please respect that we have our everyday schedules too - so if you like to party all night, try not to disturb our sleep when you get back home. Our neighbors will appreciate your considerateness, too. This is self-explanatory i guess.
There is no smoking in the house, but you are welcome to use the ashtray and to smoke in the backyard garden.
Since it is small bathroom, please open the window when you shower and we really appreciate if you use the slider afterwards to remove the water from the shower walls. That helps to keep the bathroom dry, and you can help to save water for the environment by not showering longer than you need to.
Thanks for regarding this. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
Hamburg! Ankommen!
Malte was an amazing host. Realy just perfect. He introduced us very well to the area and all over hambourg. He helped us a lot with walking tours, tickets, city bikes, restaurants and everything else we were looking for. The room was very nice and the location of the flat is one of a kind. Well centered and a lot of places are in walking distance.
A big big thank you for a wonderfull weekend in hambourg!!
When Malte let us in, his apartment was filled with candles and a scent of fresh flowers. Malte gave us a map with detailed information about Hamburg and even his subscription to the city's cycling plan (two bikes!). We felt at home right away! Besides, Malte is a very welcoming host, without being intrusive. Perfect!

When I travel, I prefer being hosted by real people - I have some very memorable experiences because of interaction with locals (getting to know their views and recommendations about the places i visited). Usually, I invite my hosts for dinner and drinks, to return the favor of their hospitality. That is also why I like the AirBnB concept - because it embraces the idea of giving back to hosts, in its own unique way.
I want you to have a good time.
That has always been important to me when friends came visiting, and I would like you to feel like visiting a friend, well, more precisely, a friend with a busy schedule ;) As a certified tour guide, I have the pleasure of discovering more and new aspects about Hamburg every day. I don't mind sharing some of that knowledge with my guests, so feel free to ask.
I like Rilke's work Letters To A Young Poet, it inspires me anytime i read a few pages. The film 180° South - Conquerors Of The Useless is worth watching, along with HOME and Is The Man Who Is Tall Happy?

An old Cherokee told his grandson, "My son, there is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil - it is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is Good - it is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and truth."
The boy thought about it and asked, "Grandfather, which wolf wins?"
The old man quietly replied, "The one you feed."
