We kissed a sleeping beauty

In the heat of the summer of 2010 we discovered this historic pearl of architcture from 1853 that is uniquely situated inbetween extensive wineyards of the Médoc surrounding it.

Immediately we fell in love with its french charm, its ingenious carved shutters, the five fireplaces, the typical paving tiles, the original doors and its vast extent including rooms that have a ceiling height of 3,20m.

After substantial restoration with troublesome detail work we are now very happy to revitalise the cottage by offering four guest-rooms.

All rooms have a fantasdtic panoramic view over the wineyards and are equipped with original old furniture of the beginning 19th century. However beds and bathrooms are brandnew according to an up to date comfort.

For two persons we offer two possibilities:

Monet :
25m², 1,60m wide bed, fireplace, bureau, WLAN,
private italian showerbath with a shower that is 1,40m broad and a private rest room

20m², 1,60m wide bed, fireplace, bureau, WLAN, vast bathroom of 16m² with stylish baroque bathtub, toilet and bidet

The garden of about 800m² with 7m swimmingpool and sunterrace as well as a fully equipped kitchen in the saloon are any time at your disposal; also the laundry with prior consultation.
On the site you will find two parking areas.

Moulis-en-Médoc is an amazing little village with its own long lasting wine-production, some 30 km in the north of Bordeaux. By feet you reach a highly frequented restaurant called "Boule d'Or" in the heart of the village. There you will also find a mini-market and a bakery with an inventive baguette machine. The wine is not far away: you only have to cross the road and ask your neighbour :-)

In this region you find all over the year lots of interesting happenings : end of march / begin of april the "Printemps des chateaux", in may "La Médocaine", in june the "Weekend des grands amateurs" and the "Moulissoise", in September the inimitable "Marathon du Médoc",in november "Margaux saveur" and furthermore several concerts in the surrounding Chateaux.

The Villa Verena is situated in the middle of vineyards with numerous hiking trails; one of them bypasses directly the house. Spend some unforgettable days by walking from Chateau to Chateau and degust meanwhile the Grands Crus „qui fond rêver le monde“. Furthermore we offer workshops for various subjects like photography, Yoga or presentation.

An ideal place for excursions in order to go shopping and enjoying cultur is the city of Bordeaux, declared world heritage, though young, dynamic und worldopen. The atlantic ocean with its long and large beaches is only 45 km to go; even in the hihg season you will be able to find a quiet place. Near to Moulis-en-Médoc passes the famous road D2, known as "Route du vin" with lots of famous Chateaux. Also a bycicle tour is highly recommended.

Two bus lines connect Moulis-en-Médoc efficiently with Bordeaux. During the summertime there are additionally bus lines to the beaches that depart in front of the town hall what ist very convenient.
A small train station you can find in front of Chateau Maucaillou.
