About this listing
Many thanks for your interest in my guest room. If you like to know more details, you find an elaborate description below!
Should you like to book, please send me always(!) an inquiry first with your desired arrival- and departure dates using the link "Contact Host" (below). Please don't send me a booking request via "Request to book" (right). This is because I am sometimes traveling myself. In these days, the room is available indeed, but your check-in would not be possible. Thank you! :)
Beautiful room in a bright 85qm apartment with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with bathtub. Conveniently located near main-station, with separate access to the green, sunny roof garden and view on the mountains of Odenwald.
The building from the 60ies is provided with green electricity and has an environmental friendly heating system.
The guest room has 16 square meters with a futon bed for 1-2 persons. The mattress is very good and is 140cm wide. If you are three, I can lay another mattress aside. Before you arrive I will put on fresh bed linen. Furthermore there is a desk and a wardrobe.
You are welcome to use the kitchen, bathroom and roof garden whenever you want. WiFi and national calls via landline are free, a bike for guests is also available upon request. Should you need to do some washing, you can use the washing machine for free. From the guest room and the kitchen you have direct access to the roof garden. This is also the smokers' area. Towels, bed linen and a hair dryer is available, and there's always enough coffee and tea (several sorts of tea and an espresso machine). For the little hunger in-between you find some fresh fruits, bread, butter, jam and honey on the kitchen table.
Interaction with guests
Usually we will share the same apartment and, shouldn't I be busy, I am always up to a short chat with a cup of tea, a breakfast or even cooking a nice dinner together. But also if you prefer to be on your own, I know to respect it.
If you have further questions, maybe the references of my guests are of interest for you. Or just write me an email, and I will answer as soon as possible!
The apartment is located in the south of Weststadt, a quarter of Heidelberg near the city center. The central station is within 10 minutes walking distance. It's a 30 minutes' walk to the city center (old town) and 10 minutes with public transport. Bus and tram stops are 3 minutes from my place. The university hospital and DKFZ are 15-20 minutes away, the university institutes in the old town 20-30 minutes. Roughly the same time you need to get to EMBL. To Mannheim central station it is a 17min drive with the train. As the apartment is situated at the edge of the city center with small businesses having free customer parking space in the neighborhood, you won't have a problem to find a place for your car in my street. Not too far away you find a couple of restaurants, bars and clubs, a fitness center and a nice jogging track. Should you want to get to know them, or as well Heidelberg and its surroundings, I am happy to give you some tips and hints!
Other things to note
During the day I am usually at work, and in the evenings and during weekends I am sometimes out. Therefore check-in during weekdays is usually only possible after 6-7pm. If I am free on your arrival, I can pick you up with the car from the station. Should you want to have a later checkout than 10 o'clock, please inform me beforehand - on some days this is flexible.
Best regards, Carsten
As already written above, could you please always(!) send me an inquiry first with your desired arrival- and departure dates using the link "Contact Host" (see top of the rental description), before(!) you do the concrete booking request via "Request to book" (input box right). The reason is that I am often traveling on short notice. Therefore it might happen that the room is available, your check-in however is not possible. After your inquiry I will respond within a few hours, and send you the preconfirmation for the booking as soon as possible.
Everything else which needs to be clarified, we talk about best once you arrived. All information are available as well in the guest-handbook, which you will find in the guest room: About the house rules, manuals for the kitchen machines and the heating system, the locations of the nearest supermarkets, bakeries, public transports, etc., and last but not least the name of my friendly neighbor in the ground floor, who is always happy to support if you need urgent help during my absence.
Of course - should there be any issues you need to talk about already before you do the booking, just let me know!
I am a curious person and love to travel. Not only to see other parts of the world - much more to widen my horizon, to get to know people from other places and cultures; to learn about their thoughts, their different perspectives and ways of thinking, and maybe even to find new friends. Having you as guest at my place is for me like traveling around the globe while being at home. Therefore - be welcome!
