About this listing
Beautiful room in a bright, recently renovated 85qm apartment with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Conveniently located near mainstation, with separate access to the green, sunny roof garden and view on the mountains of Odenwald.
are you looking for a low cost accomodation in central Heidelberg? My place is a bright, recently renovated and carpeted two-bedroom apartment + fully equiped kitchen and bathroom with bathtub. All in all it is 85 sq. meters. The building from the 60ies is provided with green electricity and has an environmental friendly heating system.
Your room has 16 square meters with a futon bed for 1-2 persons. The matress is very good and is 140cm wide. If you are three, I can lay another matress aside. Before you arrive I will put on fresh bed linen. Furthermore there is a desk and a wardrobe.
You are welcome to use the kitchen, bathroom and roof garden whenever you want. WiFi and national calls via landline are free, a bike for guests is also available upon request. Should you need to do some washing, you can use the washing mashine for free. From the guest room and the kitchen you have direct access to the roof garden, with a view of the famous Odenwald over the roofs of Heidelberg, and with sun the whole day - at least as long as it is not raining. This is also the smokers' area. Towels, bed linen and a hair dryer is available, and there's always enough coffee and tea (several sorts of tea and an espresso machine).
Interaction with Guests
Usually we will share the same apartment and, shouldn't I be busy, I am always up to a short chat with a cup of tea, a breakfast or even cooking a nice dinner together. But also if you prefer to be on your own, I know to respect it.
If you have further questions, maybe the references of my guests are of interest for you. Or just write me an email, and I will answer as soon as possible!
The apartment is located in the south of Weststadt, a quarter of Heidelberg near the citycenter. The central station is within 10 minutes walking distance. It's a 30 minutes walk to the city center (old town) and 10 minutes with public transport. Bus and tram stops are 3 minutes from my place. The university hospital and DKFZ are 15-20 minutes away, the university institutes in the old town 20-30 minutes. Roughly the same time you need to get to EMBL. To Mannheim central station it is a 17min drive with the train. As the apartment is situated at the edge of the city center with small businesses having free customer parking space in the neighbourhood, you won't have a problem to find a place for your car in my street. Not too far away you find a couple of restaurants, bars and clubs, a fitness center and a nice jogging track. Should you want to get to know them, or as well Heidelberg and its surroundings, I am happy to give you some tips and hints!
Other Things to Note
During the day I am usually at work, and in the evenings and during weekends I am sometimes out. Therefore checkin during weekdays is usually only possible after 6-7pm. If I am free on your arrival, I can pick you up with the car from the station. Should you want to have a later checkout than 10 o'clock, please inform me beforehand - on some days this is flexible.
As I am travelling myself quite often it could be, that at one or the other day the habitation is available indeed, but an arrival is not possible. Therefore, please always send me a message before you do a concrete booking request. I will get back to you promptly and send you the confirmation.
Best regards, Carsten
There are no special rules which exceed the usual for a relaxed living together in the same apartment. Everything which needs to be clarified, we will do best after your arrival. During your stay, you can also check up all necessary and usefull information in the handbook for guests, shouldn't I be available to answer your questions: From how the installations and kitchen machines work, over the handling of the heating system, up to information about the nearest supermarkets, bakery, pharmacy. And last but not least the name of my friendly neighbour downstairs, who can help you if you need support while I am away. You will find it as a print out in the desk of your guest room. If you have any special questions or issues which need to be clarified beforehand, don't hesitate to ask me.
Meine Erste Buchung bei Airbnb! Hat alles super geklappt, Carsten hat mich, ohne zu kennen, voll vertraut. Das Zimmer, die Wohnung, bequem, sauber, ruhig, nähe Bahnhof. Genau was ich gebraucht habe. Tolle Terrasse zum Ausruhen. Werde gerne bei Carsten wieder buchen wenn ich nach Heidelberg fahre. DANKE Carsten!
This is the very first time I found the accommodation in Airbnb. At the beginning I thought it was so hard to find the nice one. However, I really found one and had very good experience in there. Even though it just few days stayed there.
How amazing about the host Carsten, who is very hospitable. Such as we had cooked local cuisine and shared some stories together. The most expressed part in my journey was in the last day of my trip, he showed me where I could find glowworms.
Very nice apartment, clean, tidy and quiet. The garden in the balcony is amazing! I am sure one can have lots of pleasure there. Carsten is also a very kind and hot-hearted host, he give you as much help as he could. Highly recommended!
Carsten made Heidelberg feel like home. He is incredibly generous, friendly and easy to talk with. I wish I could have stayed longer. Would highly, highly recommend.
Carsten really deserves his status as super host! He is really friendly and easy to talk to, and thought of everything (except maybe how to open the front door, but of all the people who have stayed here I'm the first one to be too stupid to work that out!). He is also really generous, not only picking me up from the station when I arrived, but also cooking me a traditional German meal the first night. The flat is spotlessly clean too. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Sehr netter Umgang, alles sehr entspannt & unkompliziert. Lage zwischen Weststadt & Bahnstadt.

About the Host, Carsten
I am a curious person and love to travel. Not only to see other parts of the world - much more to widen my horizon, to get to know people from other places and cultures; to learn about their thoughts, their different perspectives and ways of thinking. This is also why I enjoy having guests so much, because it is like travelling around the globe while being at home!
