The Space

Short and long stays available! Message me!

This apartment is located in the Lower Garden District in New Orleans. This is seconds away from the historic Garden District, where many celebrities live, and also home to Lafayette Cemetery and Commander's Palace, among other attractions.

It is much quieter than the French Quarter, but there are a multitude of great restaurants, bars, and shops that are often better (and almost always Cheaper) than what you'll find in the Quarter. Plus your a 10 minute streetcar or bus ride away from downtown. And I sometimes have one bicycle available ($5 per day), but please contact me to inquire.

It is a one bedroom apartment located conveniently in the Lower Garden District between Magazine and St Charles.

See calendar for nightly rates.
1 month price $1400
1 week price $400

The apartment is fully FURNISHED.

The apartment is divided into two rooms---a furnished bedroom with a comfortable queen-sized bed, spacious closet, and a bedside table--and a very large living room with beautiful wooden floors, high ceilings, and an old-school fireplace and mantel, bookshelves, a futon couch, and a TV for watching VHS (I have a collection of about 30) --There is also a record player, a bookcase full of books, a stocked kitchen, and a bathroom. Sheets, pillows, and blankets are included.

The apartment is located four blocks from St Charles (this is where the majority of Mardi Gras parades take place) and the streetcar line that will take you into the French Quarter in 15 minutes, and two blocks from Magazine, where there are many restaurants, bars, cafe, clothing and antique shops. It is also easy to get to the Super Dome from St Charles street car line.

This is a great, safe, fun section of New Orleans to stay in.

Local RESTAURANTS, CAFES and BARS include:
The Half Moon
Jaun's Flying Burrito
Down the Hatch
St Charles Ave Pub
2 Excellent Vietnamese Restaurants
The Reservoir Cafe
etc. etc.

The Neighborhood

The Lower Garden District is full of coffee shops, boutiques, great restaurants and bars. It's perfectly located to get downtown to the French Quarter in 15 mins using either the street car or bus, or Uptown to Audobon Park, the Zoo and Tulane and Loyola Universities. But there's so much going on within walking distance of the apt, you might never have to leave the neighborhood!

Getting around

Bus and streetcar are both respectively 2 and 4 blocks from the apt.

Check In
  • My friend and I had a great time staying at Nate's. It's only a few blocks to Magazine St and less than a $10 cab ride to the French Quarter. The area was great for an authentic New Orleans experience

  • Great experience. Close to everything... Nate will take great care of you!

  • We had a great time staying at Nate's place for the first weekend of Jazz Fest. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and in a nice neighborhood. Nate's recommendations were spot on--definitely check out Surrey's for breakfast--and he accommodated our late arrival without a problem. Overall, it was an awesome first experience with Airbnb and the city of New Orleans. Here's to many more!

  • This is a nice little apartment not far from the street car or the bus line. I came in for a conference and only had to walk a few blocks to catch the bus. It is in a safe and convenient part of town. The apartment itself old and could use some renovations but it is clean and perfect for someone staying on a budget.

  • Unfortunately dirty since the check-in person didn't have time to clean it well (Nate was out of town). Other than that, it is a good place to stay if you're on a budget.

  • Nate's place is the perfect 1-BR apartment for a short stay in New Orleans, especially for people who want to have access to the French Quarter/CBD without actually staying in the area. The Lower Garden District has many amenities, and it's a 20-min walk away from all what downtown NOLA has to offer. The apartment itself was comfortable and clean, and Nate was an excellent host (communication with him was always fluid and attentive, plus he was pretty flexible with our complicated arrival/departure arrangements).

  • This was my first time in NOLA and I was a bit worried about the neighborhood I'd be staying in. When I pulled up my fears vanished. The Garden District is one of the coolest, easy to walk neighborhoods I have been in. There were couples out for a jog it seems at almost all hours, so I assume it's a safe neighborhood. It takes about 40 minutes on foot to get to the French Quarter, but it is worth the walk (good luck driving near downtown/French Quarter, very congested). There is a beautiful walkway down Camp street that takes you straight there.

Also plenty of nearby food options in the Garden District.

Parking is street parking and is difficult to snag a spot sometimes. There is a dirt lot on the corner where people seem to park, so worst case you can park there (I think).

The apartment is very old, but clean. I was a little confused about how to get in at first but Nate's instructions were clear and I figured it out. I will certainly consider staying here again next time I visit NOLA.

    November 2013
  • We stayed here in November 2013 for 4 nights. Nate's home is in a great location, it was in a safe quiet neighborhood with very easy access to Magazine Street and the street car which took us wherever we wanted to go. We appreciated the little touches- the fresh towels and soap left out for us, disposable cutlery, the scented candles and the coffee/tea setup. The kitchen seemed well-equipped for cooking. All supplies were within easy reach. Though we did not meet Nate, he was always quick to reply to our questions and ready to deal with any issues. The house is quite old, the bathroom basin tended to fill up and the floorboards creaked. This did not trouble us tho-we were on holiday and old houses have a charm of their own!

  • This was a great place to stay, on a beautiful street surrounded by lovely architecture and super close to the Magazine St and St. Charles St shops and pubs. With Nate's bike, I could easily go to festivals and museums in all parts of town. Even without the bike, I felt pretty safe walking around the area alone. Nate is great about being accessible if you need anything.

My name is Nathaniel Kostar. I am originally from New Jersey and currently living in and loving New Orleans. After college I traveled extensively. Costa Rica, Italy, France, Scotland, Thailand, and South Korea are some of the places I have lived and worked. I am an easy-going person and can help you with whatever you need in New Orleans--from recommendations on good places to eat to bringing you to see my favorite bands in the city. This is my favorite city in the world so I love to show it to people who are open-minded and want an 'authentic' experience. My apartment is in The Lower Garden District in a beautiful area nestled between St Charles Avenue and Magazine Street. Easy public transportation (bus and streetcar) will take you to downtown and the French Quarter in 15 minutes. There are also tons of shops, restaurants, and bars right in this area--as well as the beautiful and historic Garden District. It is great for walking and biking.
