We had a great time in the treehouse over our Christmas vacation! The house was perfect for our needs, super close to everything in Asheville and a great place for our dogs. The house itself is super cute and rustic with amazing views in the morning. Definitely felt like a true mountain getaway. We would definitely rent this place in the future!
This apartment was great for us. We appreciated being able to have our dogs and actually ended up cooking a full Thanksgiving meal in the small kitchen. The location was great, very woodsy, but just a few minutes from groceries, downtown etc. It was very comfortable and nicely furnished. We hope to stay there again. We enjoyed the "Bear Crossing" sign just down the road but did not see any!
We had a lovely time at the quirky round house settled in the mountains, but just minutes from downtown. The house had everything we needed and was suitable for our dogs. The back porch is fully enclosed (half covered/half uncovered) which is a great feature for those who wish to enjoy the nice weather while keeping an eye on their pets. The parking situation was a little unfortunate, but not unbearable. I assumed we would be able to park in the open space at the bottom of the house, but the driveway is too steep and worn from the weather, so you are required to park on the narrow road crammed against the garbage cans and the entrance to the steep steps leading to the house. Other than that, everything was wonderful and we would definitely return!
The Round House/Tree House is the perfect setting for anyone who wants to visit Asheville. The house is in the trees literally but a few minutes' drive
from the city proper. It's in the lovely Grove Park area. There are 2 bedrooms, an open living room, and a more than adequate kitchen. All have views of the trees. We stayed there 2 weeks and it was like living in a national forest. I recommend the house to anyone who wants to have a beautiful, private setting very close to town.
The house is in a very nice part of Asheville and is wonderfully on the funky side. Our GPS was not great a finding the correct road to get us onto Sunset - it directed us into a residential complex so check your map and have Kat's directions with you (we didn't). We arrived early enough to get in a long walk around the hillside before settling in for an at-home dinner. Happily, a prior guest left beer in the fridge from one of the (many) craft breweries in town and a vase of flowers - nice touches!! That's one thing about Airbnb properties - they are much homier than commercial rentals! There were also some condiments and dairy products in the fridge so we used and discarded as appropriate. We did grab groceries on the way and if you like organic foods, the French Broad Co-op is not far from Kat's place.
Being up in the trees was fun and the fresh mountain air was delicious. We had all the windows open as much as possible. It rained heavily during our stay so sitting on the covered porch off the kitchen didn't work out all the time but it was our favorite part of the house. The string of little lights provided a perfect ambiance after dark - we loved it!
Welcome info was on the fridge rather than in a book so we missed out on a few details until we called for the wi-fi code (which was on the fridge). The cleaner seems to like bleach so if you're sensitive to things like that, it's prudent to ask hosts prior to booking.
The beds were great - something our Airbnb experiences are proving to be a habit. At this location, our well-behaved dog was welcomed and we really appreciated that. She had a great time, too.
We couldn't have asked for a better experience ! Kat's home is absolutely beautiful perched up in the mountains above the Grove Park area! Her house is super convenient to uptown and the Grove Park Inn, with beautiful views all around!
Kat was really understanding when we had to cancel due to a family emergency. We eventually were able to getaway to Asheville, and we loved staying at the Roundhouse. The neighborhood is beautiful, and downtown is only 5 minutes away. The porch is an amazing place to sit and sip coffee in the mornings, and the home is very comfortable and cozy.
