  • Our stay at Gloria's apartment was spectacular. We were in Providence for a month and the Prospect Park apartment fit all of our needs - the place was clean, stylish, full of gorgeous art, and beautifully contemporary. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were updated. And of course, the location was stellar - you can see Prospect Park from inside the apartment. Gloria was welcoming and informative before we booked and was very responsive throughout our stay when we had queries. We couldn't recommend this place more, and would absolutely come back!

  • Fantastic, sun-filled, ground-level apartment within easy walking distance to Brown, RISD, and Thayer Street shopping and dining. Gloria is a most attentive and thoughtful hostess. Upon our arrival, we discovered that she'd stocked the fridge with milk, yogurts, orange juice, and sparkling water, and even bought a box of organic cereal. Kitchen is well appointed, including a Bosch 5-burner, gas stove and stainless steel cookware. Plus there is olive oil, salt, pepper, balsamic vinegar, mirin, etc., along with various teas in the cupboard, and basic staples in the fridge (mayo, mustard). So nice not to have to buy those necessities. Gloria said there was no need to replace what we used. The apartment looks like a model home for IKEA and Marimekko - modern, classy and minimalist. The twinkly lights strung along the windows are a lovely touch, as are the mugs that match the wall hanging! I wish the couch were more welcoming - we found it a bit hard, but the beds are really comfortable. We LOVED the shower in the ceiling of the bathroom (no shower curtain). Other reviewers mentioned difficulties using it, but just follow the explicit instructions Gloria wrote. No problem once you get the hang of it. I also loved the bathtub in the other bathroom, but there is no place to put your soap or shampoo. Be sure to bring your own blow dryer. One reviewer complained about various noises. If you're a light sleeper, sleep in the bedroom furthest from the heater closet, as there is the occasional growl and whir, or just keep the bedroom door closed at night. Upstairs neighbor noise is far less than any hotel! Not an issue. If you're travelling with friends or family, just know that conversations carry throughout the apartment, and closed doors do not act as a sound barrier. Loved the park across the street with friendly dog owners, and beautiful sunsets overlooking the city. Our dog had a great time. Plus the little yard out front is fully enclosed, so you can let the dog out without worry. I had never used Airbnb and made the reservation less than 24 hours before our arrival. After paying in full (Airbnb verification process was a nightmare), and being accepted, Gloria realized that her parking spot was not available 3 of the 5 nights we were staying (a friend of hers was using it), and suggested we cancel. After spending hours combing through listings, I was really upset. Most places were either booked, or did not accept dogs. Plus I was worried that Airbnb would not refund the booking fee. Thankfully, we worked it out. Gloria reimbursed us for paid parking nearby. Happy ending :) Just wish the apartment had a landline. We spent a lot of time on our foreign cel phone making local calls (to find parking, etc.). It would have been nice for friends, family, and business associates in the area to contact us without us incurring long-distance fees. In case of emergency,...

  • Gloria's apartment was the perfect home base from which to explore Providence. Clean and modern, with pops of warm, colorful textiles throughout. Felt like an up-to-date European apartment in a classic, historic New England building. Quite a bit of light. Huge table would be perfect for a dinner gathering. The shower room was a fun detail. Great view of Statehouse and downtown Providence from park across the street. Gloria was at all times helpful, and especially flexible and understanding about check in / check out. Hope to return sometime soon!

  • Absolutely LOVED this place! Parents visiting a child at school could not do any better than this roomy, immaculately clean European-style apartment. Perfect location (just a few blocks from Thayer Street) great wifi, free parking (if you've stayed at hotels in Providence, you know that's a big deal!) and so comfortable a place to just hang out, that my daughter, my mother and I could spend an entire evening staying in, ordering pizza from Nice Slice and have a nice relaxing time without having to go anywhere. You can't do that in a hotel.

Gloria was a magnificent host, who left healthy goodies in the apartment and was always just a text away if I had any questions or needed anything. She also left three pages of information regarding the apartment, area and restaurants. You could not ask for anything more.

I will NEVER stay in a hotel in Providence again if this place is available. Thanks again, Gloria!

  • This modern space was very clean and spacious. The furniture, wall art and rugs made the space light and airy and pop with color. I did not find it cozy, but I think that speaks to the modern feel. Concrete floors (happily heated!) and all white walls makes it tough to create a cozy feel. I was in Providence to take a weekend art workshop at RISD and this was an excellent place to stay for that. I was able to walk to and from class each day in less than 10 minutes. I also had my dog with me and there was a small park kitty-corner from the apartment where many dogs congregate as well as plenty of places to walk nearby (Brown campus, Moses Brown campus, river walk, and more), It is a fun area to walk given the many beautiful homes and churches any direction you take. A parking place is provided, but if you have a large vehicle, it won't fit. My Volvo SUV was jutting well out into the sidewalk. My only complaint was the noise throughout the evening. The apartment itself seems to make a bit of noise - there seemed to always be something clicking or popping at odd times throughout the night as things "worked." I got used to it by the 3rd night, but it took time to get used to it. On my final night, the individual directly above the apartment must have returned from a weekend trip because I suddenly heard very loud footsteps as he/she walked back and forth.. a lot and until 1 am. There isn't much to absorb noise in the apartment. Be sure to bring your own entertainment. I was happy with my art supplies and guitar as well as my Netflix streaming. There is no TV or music player, so for those of you who look for entertainment in a box, bring your own. Gloria was very nice and easy to reach.

    Response from Gloria:

The noise in the apartment was the heating system turning on, it is a gas fired boiler which heats the underfloor heating. As for upstairs noise it was superbowl weekend and I think on college hill there were some celebrations.
As described there is a parking space but not for a large vehicle. Most people who stay do walk to Brown and Risd and the Amtrack station. Point taken about entertainment, perhaps an Ipod plug in would be a good idea. Thanks for the feedback

  • Staying at Gloria's was a real treat.

  • Great stay for 3 weeks while son and friend at summer school at Brown and RISD - very well located for both.
Bright and fresh with all the comforts and amenities we needed.
Excellent communication when booking and before arrival plus Gloria's friend Margaux was fantastic.

    Hope to visit again :)

  • This apartment worked perfectly for my mother and brother to stay in while they were in town for my graduation. Fantastic location. Strikingly modern design of the apartment was beautiful, but in the bathrooms style trumped functionality a little bit as the showerhead in the bath tub is very awkwardly placed. Gloria was out of town, but her friend Margaux who met us with the keys was lovely.

  • The apartment is beautifully designed, clean, modern, and comfortable. Gloria did everything in her power to make sure we had a comfortable and relaxing stay. The location is quiet and charming, within walking distance of Brown, RISD and downtown. Would absolutely stay again.

  • Very comfortable apartment and Gloria was great and responded promptly when we had a question. Nice location to stay in Providence. Parking in back was under construction and we had to park on the street one night. Gloria offered to pay for any parking tickets we incurred as a result of this and made good on her promise when we got a ticket that night. Providence has very strict parking!
