The location is excellent. The apartment is right in the heart of Rome and very close to Termini, so you can take a 10 minute walk from the bus/train station to the apartment. The Cavour metro station is handy, especially if you're planning to go to the Vatican. Other than that you can just walk anywhere in the city center. Bear in mind that it's an old apartment in an old neighborhood, so like Barbara likes to point out it's a 3rd floor without elevator, with very old high steps, so prepare your legs :)
There are some small grocery stores around, an Internet shop in front of the building and lots of restaurants in Monti (be picky, this a touristy area).
Barbara is a very nice person, who doesn't live in the apartment, so somethings might be missing, so you either check with Barbara before or let her know for the next person or you just "fix it" yourself (there was only one match to light the stove, we left a lighter there for the next person to use).
Rome is not a very cold city, we were there in early February, but the apartment, being old, could be cold sometimes. The heating system is tricky to get going, and it doesn't heat the apartment very quickly (especially in the first couple of days). The A/C system is a good quick alternative but unfortunately the remote ran out of batteries after 2 nights (I think this was the problem).
Finally there was no TV in the room (we didn't miss it much) like the pictures show.
Overall this was a good place for a trip to Rome, you're very conveniently located and Barbara is very nice, just be mindful of the details.
Ottima location 10 min. da Stazione Termini, 5 minuti da METRO CAVOUR . Rione Monti perfetto x Bar Ristorantini.
Nota: 3 piano no ascensore e WFII.
We were looking for a cheap flat in the very center of Roma : that was perfect !
Barbara was very nice ! Thank you very much !
The location is excellent. Very close to the Colosseum which enables all the attractions are known on foot.
It's also very close to the metro station Cavour, which is near to the Termini station, which did not justify the 30 euros that the taxi driver wanted to charge us. Metro was the best option to get there.
We had some problems when we arrived. It was happening a demonstration in the city and it made Barbara did not arrive in time to receive us.
When we arrived, the apartment was a little dirty. Though Barbara have tried cleaning the bathroom quickly, we had to clean it again for our own. However, the rest of the apartment, we had no time to clean and we'd payed the cleaning fee to Airbnb.
We noticed, too, that it hadn't her name as a reference on the door and we were very concerned that we are not in the correct place and we had to call to her cellphone. Luckily i had her number.
Other important things to remember is that the shower was leaking, but it was working, the TV did not worked, and the cook utensils are not in use condition.
Whatever, we had a great week. With privacy and proximity to everything we needed.
Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding with this guest, probably due to his language problems.
In the beginning he thought that he was booking a hotel, got messed up when he didn't find a sign on the door of the building and was very disappointed when he found out that i was living somewhere else and there was no hotel staff in the building to help him out and keep the key and documents.
I was late at the appointment because police blocked the city center due to a demonstration. I found that the previous guests, who checked out in the morning, left the house ok and it wasn't dirty, anyway i cleaned a little and disinfect the bathroom as i always do.
When Artur left the apartment was dirty and it wasn't in good conditions, as he thought there was a dayly cleaning service like hotels do.
He didn't bother to tell me that the shower tube was leaking, luckily i found out myself and fixed it. Later a guest told me that tv wasn't working.
The kitchen is working perfectly, previous and latest guests have been using it, i don't understand what he means by writing that utensiles don't work, because some were brand new! I guess he didn't look in the shelves and probably he had problems in using the italian coffee machine.
Guests who rent an apartment should be aware and a little more autonomous. Private apartments provide more privacy and freedom, they allow to cook and lower the budget of the holiday, but they don't offer the 24h service and assistance as hotels. It is important to be aware in our choices!
To start we waited for 40 min until a friend of Barbara appeared. After climbing some dirty stairs we got to the flat. Everything inside was really dirty, so first things first, and we had to clean the entire apartment.
Also the shower is really bad and broken.
I don't want to extend this much. DO NOT STAY HERE, my recomendation is to try and find something close because the location is really good.
is not broken, as other guests wrote. For health realons I couldn't greet the guests and i asked somebody else to get there for check in, a note has been handed to them as long as i know, no idea why they didn't read it and didn't understand that it wasn't me. I am sorry my friend got there late, this usually doesn't happen. When they checked out i found the apartment pretty dirty, for sure they never cleaned it
Barbara's appartment is located in a tiny Urbana street 2 minutes from Cavour metro station. The location is great since this is the center of the city but it's not overcrowded with tourists. There great atmospheric trattorias, workshops and tiny stores located nearby.
The apartment is spacious enough for two. There is no noise during the night since all windows head to the tiny yard.
We enjoyed our stay and will dream to come back sometimes in the future. Will definetely recommend this apartment.
We stayed in Rome from 21 to 29 of september 2013. Very good and comfortable location, this is hystorical area, all the interesting places of Rome beside, Colosseo is in 7-10 minutes by walk. Cosy apartment, nice bathroom. You can smoke inside. No internet. The flat is clean. Big kitchen witn plates and other. Barbara is attentive and nice, always ready to help with everything you need. Thank you for wonderful holiday!
