Wind over Waves is one of the premier neighborhoods on the Island if not THE premier neighborhood. Lots of space between the houses, private pools, access to the sound and the incredible uncrowded and pristine Merrimack beach, close proximity to the famous Rodanthe Pier, 20 minute drive into Kill Devil Hills or Kitty Hawk for shopping, bars and other commercial activities but still having the noncommercial atmosphere of The National Park and Hatteras Seashore make this the best location in the OBX.
A car is needed on the island.

Anne was a wonderful host! She was generous, flexible, and thorough. More than a dozen of my friends and I rented the entire house for an off-season weekend and had a fantastic time! We enjoyed all of the amenities (hot tub, beach cruisers, fishing poles, etc.) along with the beautiful view of the sound. I really couldn't recommend Anne and Sea la Vie more highly!

We had a fantastic stay at Sea La Vie B&B! Anne was a gracious and very helpful host, providing useful info on the restaurants and activities in the area. Anne also provided a very nice breakfast, which we were able to enjoy while looking out the huge pivot room windows on the great view of the area. Our room was also very nice and comfortable. Anne also provided lots of useful beach gear, including a kayak and bicycles. The jacuzzi was also a nice addition. Overall, I highly recommend staying at Sea La Vie.
I would highly recommend Anne and her fantastic accommodations to all thinking of an Outer Banks experience. Anne was so friendly and had made the stay very enjoyable. Breakfast was ready bright and early in the morning. Great muffins, and other homemade food. Her house is huge and can take in the largest or smallest group. There were only 3 of us and we had the first floor, which was great. Anne's house is in a perfect location on the Island about midway to all attractions. Easy walk to the beach.
The experience could not have been any better and you could not ask for a better host(ess). Thanks again Anne!!!
Sea la Vie is beautiful, romantic, and fun! Anne has all kind of neat things, we borrowed her sea kayak one morning! Our room was lovely and she even had a bottle of wine set up in it. It's the small touches that really make places great. This was our first time to the Outer Banks and we found it to be the perfect romantic getaway. Would definitely go back.
I knew that I liked Ann(e) :) from the moment she replied to my initial reservation request. It was after midnight when I was on AIRBNB. When she quickly replied I thought that I had sent an AIRBNB alert on her phone from my message. I messaged her back and she said that I didn't wake her. She was awake making a casserole for her current guests for their breakfast when they awoke, that were there that night. I knew at that moment that she takes care of her guests.
She is a DOLL. So are her son and husband that were there.
She has SO SO much to do there if you like outdoor water sport type things. She offered us a stand up paddle board (the Pamlico Sound is a block away...the view of it from deck is HEAVEN!) she has bikes to use for the new and safe bike path that stretches out toward AVON. She has fishing rods, kayaks, basketball hoop, volleyball, and more! We enjoyed the hot tub and pool. We watched a beautiful sunset from the dock on the P. Sound. We walked to the beach and met some AWESOME FUN SURF there if anyone who reads this surfs!
Anne was so gracious and sweet the entire time we were there. I was proposed to at The Hatteras Lighthouse during our stay. Even though I barely knew Anne, I couldn't wait to get back and tell her about it. I felt like I made a new friend and knew that she would be excited for us. She was! It was so cute how she sprang off of the couch to run over to me when I told her. She took our photo and gave us a DELICIOUS bottle of Black Fox wine (one of my new faves now.) to celebrate.
She really has a gift of treating her guests like gold because it comes natural to her. It is not forced what so ever. I have had many years exp in customer service area over the years. She is a RARE GEM and was born with natural gift customer service.
We ended up staying an extra night there instead of our original idea of staying there one night and moving closer to a more populated area the next. We loved it so much that we stayed. If we didn't have a dog, cat and kids to get back to at home, she may not have ever gotten rid of us. :)
Anne was a great host and her place was fantastic. We were on a schedule so couldn't stay as long as we would have liked, but nevertheless our stay was excellent. I would definitely recommend Sea la Vie!
Wonderful, peaceful beach trip! I flew down from Boston, drove in from the airport, and had the best 3 day quick trip ever! Anne's house is huge. I didn't really bump into the other guests at all. I had a ton of privacy and it was so clean and comfortable. There are these wonderful hammocks up on the 3rd floor deck that you can see all the stars on a clear nite-beautiful. The beach is not far at all-maybe a 10 minute walk down, and then it's like 20 miles of beautiful beach. I'd definitely stay here again. Anne is very sweet-like an adorable, funny, Southern Betty Boop. I really liked chatting with her!
So this was my first Airbnb experience, however I do rent homes on a regular for Ski trips and other events and I have to say I couldn't have been any more pleased with this vacation. Anne was a complete sweetheart and extremely responsive to any questions or concerns I had.
This vacation was a family trip in which we brought 10 people along. I was actually set on Virginia Beach, however, being that everything was booked as far as homes were concerned, I decided to look in to the Outer Banks and I can't rave enough about how great my experience was and how I am so happy I didn't go to the busy and hectic Virginia Beach.
First, the home is exactly what you see. It is gorgeous, clean, spacious and fully equipped with kayaks, sailboat, bikes, toys for the pool, hot tub and bbq to grill. This house was probably the most equipped with everything you can possibly need, than most homes I have rented. All the rooms are decorated and have comfortable beds, sheets and pillows. The sunsets and sunrises on the porche were just heaven and we got the best weather, considering it was August and took full advantage of all the hammocks.
The Beaches...One block over you can kayak and go crab fishing as the waters were very calm and plesant. The beach by Merrimack Road had a little bit of a walk over the sand dunes, but if my mom who is 70 years old could do it, I am sure everyone else can. The beaches were so peaceful and relaxing, there was one family almost every hundred feet and it felt as you almost had the beach to youreslf. The beach close to the house had more waves and was good for boogie boarding and paddle boarding. We did venture to the Cape Hatteras beach by the light house which Anne recommended and just as she said the water was much warmer and calmer and we saw dophins swimming by and had little fishes and great sea shells. This was probably more child friendly beach, but both beaches are great.
After this wonderful trip, I definitely do intend to go back next year. Being that I was with family and my family loves to cook, we didn't venture out to too many restaurants. I did bike around the neighborhood and there is a darling icecream parlor just on block away and we would go there on a daily basis. This is a quiet peaceful relaxing vacation and if that's what you are looking for I strongly recommend staying here as this place is a slice of heaven!
