**** VIDEO of Our Place, a MUST see *****
airbnb will not let me post a link to the video, but if you go to YouTube and type " Our Vacation Rental La Fortuna Costa Rica" it should come up.
This is NOT an apartment, nor a condo in a complex, a villa etc, it is a private, kick-ass house next to the Arenal Volcano, and I'm so excited to make my home (the Mountain House) yours for as many days as you'd like, so when you're there, it's yours so to speak. You are renting the house while you're down here... I nor anyone else do not live on the premises. However, I can be reached if you need anything while staying there, but for the most part you're on your own.
The Mountain House is atop a big hill per se, it got its name when my friends would call and ask if I was at my apartment in La Fortuna or at my house on the mountain, hence, the Mountain House. Like I mentioned, we are NOT a B&B, a condo or an apartment, this is a very cute, 2-steps above a cabin, house, at the base (seriously... the very base) of the Arenal Volcano. Let's just JUMP to why it's GREAT. It's only 9 minutes (2 minutes on a bumpy dirt road) from the center of town in La Fortuna, but private and secluded, yet 5 minutes (1.9km) from one of the larges stocked grocery stores in the area. Go figure.
You want birds, we GOT them - hummingbirds, toucans, Montezuma Oropendolas, Honey Creepers and many, MANY, many more. Trust me, your camera will be working OVERTIME. You want a Volcano view, you could pretty much reach out and touch it. Want a river... a real river, untamed, ready to explore... walk for 3 minutes away from the house towards the National Park property line and you're there, off the beaten path, ready, no guide required. You want monkeys? The Howler monkeys can frequently be heard passing just 100 yards away. If you're lucky you'll get to see them climb from tree to tree as they lounge around eating and enjoying the day.
Did I mention the birds... maybe you'll need 2 cameras. I am constantly landscaping so there are a LOT of plants, trees and flowers for you to enjoy. You'll LOVE eating out on the porch as the beauty that IS Costa Rica moves around you. I feed the hummingbirds and they'll be enjoying their breakfast as you enjoy yours- fun to watch - SO TERRITORIAL. And at night when the sky is dark and there's nothing to see but black. You can see the hundreds of fireflies roaming around in the distance.
They say, 'words don't describe the BEST of things', we made a video,,, check it out, it will have you convinced. ******************************************* =)
There is internet, being tethered from a smart phone. It is on a Pay-As-You-Go plan. There will be $10 added to the account which should be plenty of minutes to check emails or social networking sites. However, it will be slow and eat up a lot of minutes if you watch video or high bandwidth sites.
just watch the video........ and then you'll understand why I live here and moreover, want to share it with YOU.
* there is a small storage room off limits to guest.
Interaction with Guests
other than checking you in there wont be much interaction.
The house is located in a typical Tico neighborhood. It is the last house in it's section of the neighborhood, and is about 150 yards to the nearest house.
There is no public transportation near the house. You will need to rent a car or hire a driver. I can help you with either one.
you brake or damage it... you buy it.
This charming home was exactly as described. Clean, fully equipped, surrounded by nature, right next to Arenal...a true Costa Rican hideaway! D'Angelo was a wonderful host and helped us settle in wonderfully. I have been to Costa Rica six times and stayed at many different places. This place was by far the most unique and memorable. Highly recommended!
Merci Angelo
The mountain house is absolutely amazing. My wife and I spent 3 nights there and it was our favorite place in all of Costa Rica. The plethora of birds buzzing around the back deck all day was amazing to sit and watch for hours. The house itself is gorgeous inside and out from the wood interior to the beautiful kitchen. We spent more time at the house than we anticipated because it was so incredible.
The location is set right up against the Arenal Volcano and you are truly in the mountains surrounded by nature. D'Angelo drove us up to the house, was super friendly, showed us everything and then let us settle in. Staying at the mountain house allowed us to experience an authentic side of Costa Rica that I don't think many visitors get. Pura Vida!
D'Angelo was absolutely fantastic. The home was beautifully decorated, plenty of room, plenty of appliances, necessities and was as described. You do however have to like nature! There were plenty of humming birds all day right on the deck.
Had a great stay in La Fortuna. The house was spacious and has a great patio to hang out on. D'Angelo met us right in town and we followed him to the house. A car is a must when renting this house which is down a dirt road about 5 minutes from downtown. D'Angelo was very prompt in his communication prior to arrival. Would definitely recommend this house!
We had an amazing stay at D'Angelo's home. If you want a true Costa Rican experience stay here. We have been to Arenal several times and this was one of our best experiences. Highly recommend staying here!!
About the Host, D'Angelo
My names D'Angelo. I've lived in Costa Rica for 8 years and love every moment of it. I work in the travel industry and get to visit a lot of places around the country. From my travels I've seen what tourist and hotel owners expect while traveling, and have put together this lovely home as a result.
