Really a lovely place and perfect for my needs. Private, peaceful, convenient , in a safe and beautiful neighborhood.
Serena and Chandler could not have been more gracious hosts. We felt completely at home here. We enjoyed the privacy and serenity. Bed is comfortable; shower is great; decor is pretty. Beautiful gardens and pool (which we used several times). We're already booking another stay.
Our stay at Serena’s Serene Garden Guest House was terrific. We stayed for one full week. The room was very small (about half the size of a normal hotel room) but it was very clean and comfortable and worked well for us. The bed had nice cotton sheets, four large soft pillows, and a downy feather duvet which made for a wonderful sleep. There was a small refrigerator with two welcome bottles of water waiting for us. There was also a toaster oven that we used just about every morning. There is one closet and a hutch to put your clothes. The small bathroom has a shower and we never ran out of hot water. The wall unit AC kept us cool when needed. WiFi was fast and reliable. The cable TV is wall mounted and worked fine.
The room is actually a garage that has been converted into two small rental units. They both look out onto a peaceful backyard and swimming pool. Two chairs and a table are situated just outside your sliding glass doors making for a relaxing place to enjoy breakfast or an afternoon drink.
This being our first time to LA, I was concerned about all of the LA horror stories about the freeways and traffic. But, after picking up our rental car, we were easily able to get on the 405 which took us to the 101 and we were at the Laurel Canyon exit in about 45 minutes. Serena’s is about 2 minutes from the exit in the heart of Studio City.
Our first night we walked up to Ventura Blvd (less than 10 minutes) and ate dinner at Du Par’s. Then, we went next door and picked up a bottle of wine, some soda and breakfast items at Trader Joe's. There are plenty of shops and restaurants on Ventura. We also attended a live TV broadcast, “The Talk” at Studio City. This too was less than a 15 minute walk from “our new home.” We were easily able to drive to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, The Getty Center, Venice Beach, Malibu, and anywhere we wanted with no problem. Lots of traffic but it always seemed to keep moving……sometimes at only 20 mph but, it keeps moving.
We met Serena’s husband, Chandler, the morning after we arrived. He was friendly and helpful giving us suggestions on what to visit and how to avoid the majority of traffic by avoiding certain peak hours. Staying at Serena’s you are on your own and not disturbed but, if you need them, Chandler and Serena are just a phone call away.
The bottom line is that we had a great stay and would love to stay there again. Thank you Chandler and Serena.
Loved the place. Loved location. Loved the host. I wish I could stay there longer.
Lovely spot in a beautiful neighborhood. We really enjoyed the setting and the ambiance of the room and slept well.
When I'm traveling, just give me a good shower, a comfy bed and strong wi-fi, then I'm happy. Serena provides all three but adds an extra layer of care that makes this little guest house by the pool a solidly satisfying experience. It's so cozy and charming you just mind decide to stay a little longer. Warning: the bed is exceedingly comfortable! Highly recommended.
