B&B Houseboat Hugo is an experience. Warm in winter, cool in summer. Big enough for four, small enough for a cosy home. You will never want to leave.. Maximum number of guests is 4 (+ a baby).
From the large windows you can enjoy the passing swans and geese. They are quite tame and can be hand-fed. Great fun!
Amuse yourselves watching the passing boats, or put your feet up and rest on your comfortable sofa with big screen TV.
Houseboats actually do float… However, Houseboat Hugo is steady as a rock. No movement, no sea sickness.
We have strong heating in every room, you will never be cold. Not even in the middle of winter, with streets packed with snow.
In summer, you open the large windows to enjoy a fresh breeze.
-- In summer 2013 the street has been renewed. It turned out really good! All is fixed now --
Wake-up in your kingsized bed, open the curtain and feel like you are floating on the water. Your bed is right next to the water (with safe and warm windows in between :-) Sometimes you will even have a hungry goose or friendly swan knocking on your window. Now that’s a nice wake-up call!
The boat sleeps 4 confortably. It has a large bedroom with a real kingsized double bed (1.80m wide) and plenty of closet space.
The second bedroom is closed off with a thick curtain from the living area. Here two people can sleep on another 2 person bed (1.60m wide). This bed can be seperated into two singles if you wish.
Relax in the foaming bathtub after a day of touring this great part of Amsterdam. The bathroom has a shower and bathtub, a clean toilet and washing sink.
The kitchen is fully equiped: Oven, microwave, gas cooker and refrigerator. Feel free to cook your own meals. All pots&pans are available for you to use.
The dining area has a wooden table that seats 6 to 8 persons. You have a great view on the canal here.
The sitting area has a L-shaped couch that seats four, and some comfy chairs. Lay back and enjoy the bigscreen digital TV. Use the lightning fast Internet connection with the free wifi signal anywhere on the boat.
The canal connects right to the “Jordaan”, one of the most fun area’s in town. This area start about 200m from the boat. The Jordaan houses the Anne Frank house, many great small restaurants, clothing boutiques and an open air market. Many real Dutch bars are scattered throughout the Jordaan. Both upscale and trendy like the Mazzo and club Werck, and old-fashioned with brown cosy interiours like Café Wester and Café Thijssen. Meet the real original Amsterdam locals? Go to Café Nol!
Public transportation is quick and safe. Trams leave every few minutes in just 200m from the houseboat. Take tram 13 or 17 from Central Station for 10 minutes and get out out at Marnixstraat. The area is very safe, both day and nigth.

Lennart is really friendly and very quick to reply to questions. Picking up the key from Friends is quick and easy. Location is great and the house boat is perfect for 4 people. Quiet neighborhood with very convenient shopping 5 - 10 mins walk.
Would definitely recommend
We've just returned from a wonderful few days in Amsterdam. The houseboat proved to be exactly what it said on the package - warm, cosy and convenient. In fact it was wonderfully close to the centre via the beautiful lanes of Jordaan - we had fully anticipated buying transport tickets but in fact walked everywhere even to the main station on our final day. The local area is fully equipped with everything you need:supermarkets, delicious bakery and lots of places to eat. Top spot has to go to the fabulous restaurant - 'Foodism' though and its neighbouring cafe, 'Friends'. Literally round the corner and we had the nicest, most enjoyable evening of our visit to Amsterdam. All great - planning a return visit already!
We had a very nice 4 night stay at houseboat Hugo. Lennart is a lovely fellow and very easy to deal with. The neighbourhood is quiet and very close to my favourite parts of Amsterdam. The nearby restaurant 'Foodism' is fantastic. Make sure to reserve in advance. Possibly the best meal we had in Amsterdam and we had a lot of great food.
The houseboat has everything you need and is very comfortable - including the beds! It's not very fancy but is very good value. So great to have the kitchen and laundry and my kids loved feeding the swans and ducks from the living room window.
Very nice place!
Cool place! The living room is very nice!
Have a good trip there!
A very cozy house. Appreciate having the washing machine and the dryer!
Everything was perfect! Nice and clean interior, good location.
Perfect place. So pleasant to see ducks, swans ... In the morning.
It's a great experience to sleep on a houseboat.
