The Palace, built in the Middle Age, is located in correspondence to finds of a monumental complex dated at I sec. B.C., the most eloquent and uncorrupted proof of the brightness of the roman habitations, in a favoured position , along the fall of the hill.
The Palace is situated at the base of Viminale hill, and conspicuous finds of habitations by Roman Age are there, which attest the elegance of the quarter since the oldness. The palace is in the centre of the town, Monti area, an old quarter between Coliseum, Piazza Venezia and Fori Imperiali.
Ciancaleoni street is a little alley far away from traffic with a suggestive staircase, between Panisperna street and Zingari street.
The street is partially suitable for vehicles and it is located between two different levels, connected by stairs.

INVESTIGATIONS ABOUT DOMUS ROMANA UNDER PALAZZO CIANCALEONI
In the summer of 2007, during work to restructure the building at No. 45-46 via de' Ciancaleoni in the Monti quarter, the Archaeological Superintendency of Rome ordered investigations to be undertaken in the basements.
The removal of the modern debris (datable to between the first decades of the 20th century and the present) inside the cellars accessible from No. 46b revealed numerous rooms in opus reticulatum with barrel vaulted roofs. These were part of a late Republican house ( domus with atrium and peristyle). More rooms of the samedomus together with others from an adjacent house, accessible from via Cimarra No. 37, were investigated in 1969-70 by V. Santa Maria Scrinari and published by A. M. Ranieri. The 2007 investigation thus provided a fuller picture of the residential complexes covering an area of circa 700 m2.
It was possible to distinguish the earlier house (circa 50 B.C.) which was flanked by the second domus around the beginning of the second half of the 1st century B.C. The latter was characterized by two parallelcryptoporticus between which there were a series of symmetrical rooms mirrored by a second series. During the 1969-70 investigations the remains of wall paintings in the II style emerged together with mosaic floors. Both dwellings, which constituted a sort of terracing on the hill slope, were on an east-west alignment and at a right angle to the via Patricius. The location, size and state of preservation of the structures also made it possible to formulate a number of hypotheses regarding the urban development of Rome near the eastern slopes of the Viminal in the late Republican and early Imperial periods.
At present it appears that there was no large scale construction in the area between via Cimarra and via de' Ciancaleoni, where the above structures were found, until the end of the 1600s or the beginning of 1700 and that a part of the structures were used as a wash-house in the modern period.

We are with the walrus.
And we would like the same for all our Guests.
Against the dissolution of Artic,
Against drilling projects to produce new oil,
That will further accelerate the dissolution of Artic Ice,
Because or we learn to live producing less pollution,
Or we do not know which kind of world we will leave to our children.
We can start doing some little but important things,
Like to use the air conditioning at 22 and not 18 degrees,
The heating at 21 and not 25 degrees,
And switch off air conditioning or heating and lights,
Every time we get out.
Let be a walrus, as Sir Paul Mc Cartney,
Let save the Artic Ice,
And we will offer you an Ice…Cream,
One of the Best in Rome
Silvia di Domus Ciancaleoni
1968. Now, that was a memorable year. People down the street, the revolution was in the air, we published the White Album, and perhaps the most memorable photograph of all time was taken by an astronaut William Anders.
It was Christmas Eve and Anders and mission commander Frank Borman space had just become the first living things, the dawn of time, to orbit the moon.
Through the portholes of their Apollo 8 spacecraft, their eyes fell on something that nobody had ever seen before, something familiar yet so alien, something that took your breath away with its beauty and fragility. "Oh my God!" Borman said, "Look at that scene over there! Here is the Earth to rise. Wow, that's wonderful! "
"You have a color film, Jim?" Anders replied dryly, "Hand me that roll of film in color, fast ..." For a minute or so, two human beings, in a can 400 thousand kilometers away from home, they struggled to put a roll of film Kodak in their camera, then lifted Anders pointing it at the door and with the click immortalized on our delicate planet that slowly rose from the horizon of the moon. The dawn of the earth. That single image had such an impact on the psyche of the man who was believed to be the spark that gave rise to the global environmental movement - fundamentally changing the way we think about ourselves on this planet.
This was more than forty years ago, a blink of an eye in the vast extension of time, but something serious has happened since then. For at least 800 thousand years, the Arctic Ocean was covered by a sheet of ice extended as a continent. But in the decades following the release of that photo, satellites have measured a steady reduction of the white blanket. Much of the ice is gone, and it seems likely that, over the life of my children, to the North Pole will be just offshore. I could see that moment myself.
Think about it. Since the rise of the Earth was captured in a photo, we were so busy warm our world that now it is so radically different from space. Digging to extract fossil fuel and burning old growth forests, we put so much carbon dioxide the astronauts of today looking at a different planet. And there's something that baffles me. As the ice retreated, the oil giants are moving to that area. Instead of considering the melting of ice as a signal of danger to humanity, have their eyes on the oil fields, previously inaccessible, in the bottom of the roof of the world. In practice, are exploiting the disappearance of the ice to extract the same fuel that is causing the problem. Fossil fuels have colonized every corner of the earth, but there comes a time and a place where you need to say "enough".
I believe that time is now and that place is the Arctic. This is the reason why I decided to support the Greenpeace campaign to create a legally protected sanctuary around the North Pole and to ban oil drilling and industrial fishing from Arctic waters. My name will be set at two million that Greenpeace is collecting signatures and that will lead to the Pole, in a sealed capsule that will be anchored on the ocean floor at 4km below the ice. All these people unite together to save the Arctic and, with it, all life on Earth.
In a single month more than a million people signed the petition on (website hidden).
If you are not among them you still have a chance to make sure your name is planted in the ocean, on top of the world.
And if you, like me, you are irresistibly attracted by the wonderful Arctic wildlife, then you will want to support the mobilization by joining the online Arctic Rebellion. You can choose to be one of these five animals - a polar bear, a snowy owl, arctic fox, a walrus or narwhal. Once you have joined you in your clan animal you can hunt on the pack of new supporters for the campaign and compete with other animals to involve new people. It's like a new dawn in the world, we seek to raise a new mass movement, to draw a boundary line in the ice and say to polluters "You can not cross it."I just have to decide which animal will be ...
Yes, you guessed it ..
"I am the Walrus".

Let me start with the plusses:
The apartment is located in a wonderful neighbourhood. Close to the Colloseum and very close to nice restaurants and bars that are not too touristy.
The apartment has a very good airco (a necessity in July) and is furnished with a high quality kitchen and bathroom.
It is really small but decorated in a way you don't notice it.
The only thing we missed was the personal contact of an airbnb. When we arrived we were greeted by the assistant of Sylvia. He quickly explained everything but that was it. A nice extra would have been some recommendations for restaurants or something like that.
Also the wifi wasn't working, we received another code which also didn't work. When we told the assistent this he shrugged his shoulders and that was it.
All in all a very nice place to stay, but you can feel it is ran by a professional and thus missing the personal touch.
Thankyiu SYlvia. Did not dissapoint! Clean and tidy as shown in pictures.Very helpful. Allowed us to leave suitcases in locked cupboard after checkout as flight was in the evening. Would recomend to family and friends
Thank you for the lovely apartment! Our first visit in Rome was great and a major contributing factor to the whole experience was the excellent choice of the apartment and the help we got from an excellent host, Silvia!
Silvia's apartment is in great location at Monti area. The apartment is clear, beautifully decorated and spacious.
Silvia was a great host as she booked for us taxi service for and from the airport. We definitely prefer this apartment for next visit in Rome.
We were booked for the red suite but it was under repairment so Silvia let us had the loggia, a bigger apartment, instead but at the same price! Spacious and clean with a lot of facilities. Comfortable beds which were totally clean and fresh! Silvia is very nice and helpful and so is her assistant. The neighborhood is a cool mix with hipster vintage shops, cafés, bars and restaurants. Colosseum is just a rather short walk away, but the area is not turistified at all.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and it we would definitely stay here again! The location couldn't be better. It's a few minutes walk to the Colosseum and The Forum, and doesn't take long at all to walk through the rest of the downtown. We really enjoyed how quiet it was and the unique location. The apartment was very clean and plenty spacious for 2 people. The shower was great, and there is even a small terrace. I don't think the description says that it has wifi, but it does, and it's very fast. Silvia was very quick to respond with any questions, as well as great about arranging our transportation to and from the airport. All in all, it was a great vacation and we were so happy we stayed here!
