Our stay was epic beautiful home, beautiful views, the house is in great spot only a 5 minute into town and down to the beach, the house has an awesome size lounge and deck perfect for to just sit out side and relax , once again great stay we enjoyed it would happily stay again
The view is exactly as described and it is a special place to stay and wake up with native parrots and cockatoos on the balcony. If you sleep in the master bedroom you can wake up to a wonderful sunrise over the ocean, pretty unbeatable :) The house is open and airy and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. The weather was cold during our stay and there is no heating in the bedrooms, there were electric blankets on the beds though. The laundry service (extra charge) only supplied the minimum so I would definitely recommend bringing your own. Lorne with it's beach, restaurants and shopping is only a short walk down the steps but far enough and high enough up the hill to be quiet, especially as we were there during the crazy busy Easter break, it was nice to climb back up the steps to our peaceful spot. It is a pity that there is no wifi, it would definitely be nice for next time, an essential these days I would think.
Overall it was a lovely place to stay and I would definitely recommend it.
Beware the extensive house rules!!! The view is amazing and the property perfectly located and walking distance to the Main Street (if you don't mind a few hills) but there is a reason the house rules are not listed on the information page! they are intense and if we had have know we would have to clean the entire house (including toilets, showers & floors) before we left we would never have booked! The house is much more dated than it appears in the photos and the cleanliness is much to be desired. As mentioned, the view is spectacular, however having to fully clean, sleep on musty smelling beds, keep the split system on regulated temperatures, not feed the cockatoos, not being allowed to move the BBQ to the deck to enjoy the perfect view, not be allowed to light the wood fire and viewing the award winning view through dirty windows far outweighs the great position. Unfortunately I would think twice before booking with this host again I'm afraid.

Sorry about the incline, that's the intrinsic beauty of Lorne. In our info sheet, we suggested that you take the pedestrian walkway rather than the road, if you wanted to get into. This is where our suggestions, all in writing may come in handy for guests who want to make the most of the holiday, you rejected this and paid the price. You are greeted by sea views from where the BBQ is placed.

We all had a great time relaxing and looking at the wonderful view from the deck. Great house and close proximity to the shops and everything you need.
The whole experience was great. The directions, location and view were all amazing. A nice walk into town meant we were close enough to leave the car at home and there was plenty of space inside to keep everyone happy. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Lorraine communicated via clear emails, although I'm not quite sure why we had to supply our driving licence number on the form we had to complete. We've never had to do that in Australia before.
We were surprised by the House Manual instructions to vacuum and mop before vacating the house. What's the cleaning fee for?
Lorraine's house has a magnificent deck with stunning ocean views and is in a peaceful neighbourhood. It's definitely not a 5 minute walk to the shopping strip, restaurants and main beach as mentioned in the description listing. You'd have to be a gazelle to get up that steep hill and around the winding road in 5 mins. It would be a very strenuous climb up from the beach. No washing machine supplied even though this was advertised. No ironing board or iron. However everything spotlessly clean and a lovely kitchen.
Every guest's review is of extreme importance and I wish to acknowledge your write up thanks, Sue. We ask for drivers Licence because it's a requirement of our insurance company, as clearly stated in our confirmation letter. We are handing over keys to people we have never met, plus we live 2 hours away, it's some form of security for our home.
Access to Mountjoy Parade is via the pedestrian walkway (safe steps installed by Surfcoast Shire) directly to the main strip. As Lorne is hilly, the walk up takes 7 - 10 mins and to the restaurants just 5 mins. I'm sorry you missed reading this tip in our information sheet on the dining table.
The washing was downstairs in the laundry and this sheet also explains that.
I'm glad you enjoyed that supreme outlook from the massive deck, 7 metres from ground level and lovely to read that everything was spotless. We take much pride in the recent renovation with the entire living/dining/kitchen and master bedroom looking out on to that stunning ocean vista.

Having moved into this well-located, hidden gem on Richmond Hill some 15 months ago and after a knock-out stay in Honolulu (airbnb) earlier, I've decided to give hosting a shot.
I am well-travelled with a thirst for people/places/the unknown. Retired from the corporate world within the sales and marketing/advertising arena, I now prefer managing a handful of investment properties, but mostly spend my time between the beach (Lorne, Victoria - properties listed on airbnb) and frequent overseas holidays.
Enjoy the arts, retro furniture/jewellery/couture/architecture. Avid enthusiast of all things vintage. My indulgence is searching interesting haunts, hoping to stumble across the unique/the unusual. When in town, often seen bidding at weekly in-house auctions - not forgetting "street theatre" with Melbourne Real Estate, the auction capital of the world!!
Delight in making people feel comfortable, at home with everything at their fingertips. Love to eat, cook and entertain ......
