Our one bedroom basement flat is well located close to the railway station, bus route, Richmond's extensive shops, the river and Richmond Park. With sitting room, desk, wi fi, private shower and its own front door it is perfect for work or leisure.

The Space

This basement flat has been recently refurbished and has its own front door, entrance hall with coat rack, bedroom with a small double bed, shower room and contemporary sitting room with TV/DVD and free wifi. Bedding and towels are provided and additional bedding for a single sofa bed in the sitting room is available on request. The flat comes with an off street parking space. and is part of a detached Victorian family house. Guests are very welcome to take advantage of the south facing garden.
There is no kitchen, though there is a kettle, fridge and a 'Nespresso' coffee machine. We are two minutes from London's best deli (as voted for by 'Olives et Al ) 'The Albert's deli' and numerous cafes, restaurants and pubs. Full and continental breakfasts are usually available in the main house for a small extra charge, but please request breakfasts in your booking.
The flat is centrally located, is on several bus routes and within five minutes of Richmond rail and District Line underground stations. It is within easy walking distance of the Richmond Riverside with its gardens, pubs and river walkway and Richmond Park, the largest Royal Park in London with 2,360 acres of ancient hunting ground and plantations. Richmond itself was once home to Elizabeth the first and though only the gate house of the old Richmond Palace still remains, the town is well known for its cricket on Richmond Green, the famous view of the River Thames from Richmond Hill, its beautiful buildings, boutiques, bars and restaurants to suit all pockets. It has two permanent theatres and three cinemas. The internationally famous Kew Gardens is a twenty minute stroll away and Central London is easily accessible: Waterloo station is only fifteen minutes away by fast train and the West End a thirty minutes journey by tube. Heathrow Airport is 14 miles and Gatwick about an hour by car. Twickenham rugby stadium, the home of English rugby is a brisk walk or a short bus ride away.

Guest Access

Guests have their own sitting room, bathroom, bedroom and parking space. Access to the south facing garden is available on request.

Interaction with Guests

I am available to welcome guests and show them round. I am usually on hand to answer questions on the area and help our guests settle in.

The Neighborhood

Richmond is a great place with a range of restaurants, bars and cafes to suit all pockets. It has two well respected theatres, three cinemas, is close to Kew Gardens and a number of National Trust properties. From Richmond Hill you can see the famous view of the bend in the Thames much painted by Turner, and walk along the Thames path. Richmond Park with its deer, and fine views of the city makes Richmond one of the greenest London Boroughs. It has fantastic transport links too, close to Heathrow and on both the tube and overland rail lines.

Getting around

We are within four minutes of Richmond station. There is a regular overground rail service to Waterloo and a fast train takes around twenty minutes. Trains also go out towards Windsor and Reading as well as across town. Silver link trains provide access to North and East London. Richmond is the terminus for District Line so that all of London is easily accessible. The bus service is also very good and the house is close to the bus station - buses to Kingston and Barnes/Hammersmith stop outside the house.
We are within a twenty minute drive of Heathrow airport ( though this varies considerably depending on traffic) and Gatwick is easily accessible by rail - and can take as little as 46 minutes. The flat also comes with one parking space. We are situated close to the M4 and M3 and the motorway network is excellent if sometimes a little congested. • We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend and had a superb time. Nicky was extremely helpful and the place was fantastic. I would highly recommend staying here and if you get a chance pop into Alberts Deli.... one of the nicest Delis I've been to.

  • Although my partner and I stayed here for just one night we had an absolutely fantastic time. The basement apartment was beautifully presented and the chocolates and little cupcakes were a lovely touch!
We had booked to stay here because we attended a wedding in the area and didn't want the worry of travelling back afterwards. Having the extra living space to get ready beforehand was great and it was perfect to be able to sink in to an extremely comfy bed after a long night. The coffee machine in the morning was also extremely welcome.

  • All as described. An easy and convenient stayover that's better than the local hotel options close to the train station and town centre. Nikki was flexible on arrival time and put out the small touches for a warm welcome.

  • Nicky is a friendly, wonderful host. The garden level apartment below her house is comfortable and immaculate. I've been in Richmond from the States on biz for 2 months and you could not ask for a better, more centrally located place to stay.

I am a children's writer and part time creative writing lecturer. I like reading as you would expect, particularly fantasy and historical novels. I walk in Richmond Park most days that I'm at home. I watch quite a bit of rugby, sing in a choir when I can. I'm married with four kids and always seem to be busy, though I'm not sure what I do most of the time.
