I've traveled a lot and know how much it means to have a cozy welcoming and comfortable place to stay. And whether it's been a ger (yurt) in Mongolia, a round thatched roof house by the seaside on the coast of Senegal, a hotel in Istanbul or an apartment in Paris, I like to know that there will be a pot of good coffee waiting when I wake up in the morning. I'll make sure you have coffee & tea in the morning and at the very least, a continental breakfast--with waffles or pancakes on the weekend!
We are close to transportation into the city (a 5-minute walk to the commuter rail--one stop into Boston), and are on several bus lines that lead to Davis Square and other subway lines. If you are from out of town and have family in one of the area hospitals and are looking for a comfortable place to stay with easy access to the city, this is very convenient, Boston is a great city to visit and I have lots of tips for fun and interesting outings--walks in the city, museums, boat rides to the Boston Harbor Islands in the summertime, restaurants, music and theater.
West Medford is a nice neighborhood for walking--with lots of green space and a lake just down the street (great for a swim in the summer, and nice for a brisk walk in winter). You will find just about all you need within walking distance: banks, post office, dry cleaner, drugstore, coffee shops, pizza and sandwich places. Whole Foods is nearby, as are a number of wine stores. And West Medford is home to award winning Bistro 5 restaurant.
Guests have access to the study/office space and private bathroom on the third floor--where the bedrooms are--as well as to a sitting room on the second floor.
Interaction with Guests
Depends on the guests and on my schedule. Generally, I follow my guests' lead. My aim is to make people feel at home and to respect their privacy.
This is a very friendly neighborhood, safe and great for walking. There is just about everything you need within walking distance--restaurants, banks, dry cleaner, post office, drug store, coffee shops, and more. And we are close to public transportation--buses and commuter rail (1 stop into the city). It's pleasant for walking or going for a run--the Mystic River is just down the street, as are the Mystic Lakes.
Buses to Davis Square (red line subway) and to Lechmere (green line subway) within a minute or two walk; commuter rail 5-7 minute walk.
Guests are welcome to use the microwave and the kitchen for making tea or reheating food. No full use of the kitchen without making special arrangements, however. There is a washer and dryer in the house; for those staying a week or more, arrangements can be made for their use. We don't allow pets, but do sometimes have a visiting dog here, so let us know if you are allergic.
This is a non-smoking house.
Top notch. Provided everything we needed, as advertised, and then some. We needed an umbrella, she loaned us her's. Great breakfast and easy access into the city.
This travel in Boston was my first experience with Airbnb and I must say that it was completely positive: since the first contacts before arrival, Jennifer had been very helpful and gave all the practical informations to have the best stay. Once at Jennifer's home, we felt at home, everything was remarkably cosy and clean. Finally, Jennifer helped us A LOT during the whole stay, for example with our delayed baggage. Jennifer's house is quite far from Boston dowtown but connected with convenient public transportation. I recommend +++ this top housing to discover Boston !! Many thanks Jennifer!
We had a great experience at Jennifer's. Her house is well-located, beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Jennifer was flexible with our travel arrangements and helped us feel at home. We would gladly return!
Incredibly clean, comfortable and spacious apartment, and a wonderful host! The apartment is on the top floor of a nice house on a quiet street, very conveniently located and easy to get to. We stayed with Jennifer two separate nights, and found her to be very hospitable. She had a very nice breakfast both times with fresh fruit, great coffee, and quite possibly the best waffles I have ever eaten, among other things. Since we knew the area, we didn't have many questions for her, but I'm sure she would be helpful for anyone needing advice on what to do in the area or how to get around.
The apartment has a large double room, a smaller single room (with enough space for a teenage girl and all her stuff), an office and very large bathroom. Everything was clean and cozy without being too cluttered (i.e. everything you would need including toiletries, hairdryer, etc. but still enough room for our things). Unique furnishings and decorations lent an interesting but homey atmosphere. It is a nice airy space, and even though it was pretty warm outside while we were there, the ceiling fans and cross breezes from the windows were enough to make it comfortable.
I would highly recommend Jennifer and this apartment!
My experience at Jennifer's home was excellent! She was very accommodating and made us feel at home. Everything was as pictured, and extremely clean. The house is a fairly short walk to the commuter rail, which made going into the city easy, though still a bit of a "hike." I think next time I visit I will try to find a place closer to the city. I would definitely recommend Jennifer's home as long as you don't mind the longer commute to the city! For the price, you can't beat it.
We had a lovely experience. Jennifer was very accomodating to our needs . I would highly recommend this listing if I were visting the Medford/ Tufts/ Fletcher School area again.
The Cozy top floor was as it was described, comfortable, spacious, quiet and very accessible to area around town.
We definitely love Jennifer's place. Her place is very clean and spacious. The breakfast she made was delicious. Jennifer is very welcoming and recommends us places to go in Boston. We will try staying at her place again next time we visit Boston area.
About the Host, Jennifer
I've lived in Medford for twenty years, so I know the ins and outs of the area. I'll be happy to show you some of the cool spots in town or leave you to your own devices. Having traveled extensively, I understand what a difference it makes to have a nice, cozy space to come back to after a day's adventures--my aim is to provide just that--a place where you can relax and feel at home.
Our house is in a safe, friendly and easily accessible neighborhood. It's a wonderful old house with a nice garden. We raised our daughter in this house and have shared it with many friends over the years. I look forward to sharing it with you when you come to visit Boston!
