Closer to the heart of the city (TIMES SQUARE, 42nd St.) than most locations in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and even within Manhattan itself.
I live as close to Manhattan on this side of the river, the Hudson river, as your going to get. 10 minutes to NYC. Buses at your doorstep that run every 5 minutes and all night long.
I have two rooms available, rooms are comfortable, large, furnished and private( key access) with double beds and are wi-fi ready. The two rooms are adjoining , excellent for parties of one to four guests, I only rent out to one party at a time. Kitchen and bathroom are shared (with myself) . I have a good sized kitchen which you'll have access to as well as a large bathroom with a standing shower. I provide toiletries, clean towels and bedding. This is an apartment share, I live here as well, the apartment is a 1200 square foot loft and very well divided for housing guests, meaning you don't have to walk through my space to access your rooms. One private parking space available.
I know the city very well and can advise you on places to go, ie..bars and restaurants that your not going to find in your travel books, the truly hip spots to hit in NYC.
In Union City you'll find bars, restaurants, groceries, laundry, banks, ATM's, amazing views of the New York skyline, all within a five minute walk. Come on by and enjoy the City.
This is my second stay with Tito and once again was great! Still the fastest way into Manhattan with the buses running there and back day and night. I flew into JFK and took the train to the Port Authority, then caught the lil bus over. Although a long trip, was very inexpensive.
The street noise is loud, but if you take ear plugs you'll not notice. The room was well heated and the bed comfy. Clean and tons of space.
We stayed in the city late at nite and easily found the buses back to NJ without any problem. All you have to do is look up Burger King at 42nd ave times square and you'll see the buses. Just ask the drivers and they'll get you back to NJ, which takes about 20 min. Note that coming back, they do wait for the bus to fill up, but it doesn't take long. Tito's place is the 2nd stop(I would tell the driver that you'll exit at the 2nd stop) and it drops you off right outside Tito's door.
Lots of places to eat in Union city, including a 24 hour diner a few blocks from the place. Safe and easy walk. Can't say enough how friendly the people of Union City are and highly recommend that female travelers would be comfortable here! Can't wait to go back again!
People from out of town may not realize what an ideal location Weehaken is: incredibly close to Times Square and transport, with gorgeous views of the skyline, but a really cool Jersey scene that is a lot more interesting than the chaos and yuppification of Manhattan. I just wish I'd had more time to hang out with Tito and his lovely lady-friend whose name has just eluded me. But not their hospitality: lots of fascinating people to introduce you to and a wealth of stories about this amazing city.
I stayed there for the weekend with 2 other friends and it was a really nice place! Tito and his gf were really welcoming and we had the freedome to come and go whenever we wanted to. The transportation is really good. There are some kind of taxi-buses that run 24/7, they cost $3 and it takes them 15 min to reach Time Square. The bus stops are exactly outside the house's door. I would definitely recommend this place. It's further from the busy downtown and it has a lot of convenient stores and food places pretty close by.
Didn't get to meet Tito, but his GF Nadia was cool and sociable. This place was exactly as advertised--a great room-share.
this is my first time using airbnb.com and it is a perfect experience to live in Tito's house, he and his friends are so kind, in a word, perfect!
Tito was very kind and helpful, and his apartment was the perfect distance from downtown—just one bus ride away from Manhattan!
Great value for money, at least twice cheaper than Manhattan and you are on Times Square in 5-15 minutes with a 3$ bus which runs 24/7. Comfortable and private rooms. A definite recommendation.
Tito was an awesome host. He was very communicative giving tons of assistance and directions. Super friendly and outgoing. We shared some laughs and stories. The room I stayed in was very spacious. The apartment was a 10 minute ride into mid town Manhattan and there were tons of buses right in front as well. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much for the awesome stay!
We had a good stay at 10 Minutes to Manhattan. We had a big enough room with a comfortable bed and all the privacy you need. Sound from the street is there but not too bad. Tito and his girlfriend are really friendly and open and the place is good price/quality. The place is easy to reach by shuttle busses which go every few minutes directly to and from Manhattan. We would reccomend it to anyone who wishes to stay close to Manhattan. Greets Erwin/Lucia
Tito was a great host! We arrived late, as our bus was delayed, but no problem at all. Tito's place is really close to the city. The bus ride to the city is around $3. The street is a little loud, but when you really shut the windows, you sleep very well!
To get to the restroom, you need to go through the hallway, but it is a really short walk from the bedroom. Overall a great place to stay when you want to visit New York!
