Monika provided great communication and directions to get to their beautiful Carrigaholt cottage. Caretaker Mary was a great resource and wonderful host. The cottage is located in a great friendly little town and you can see the ocean (bay) from your front door. This is a great place for a family to stay and relax. The Long Dock restaurant and other pubs are warm and inviting. It is a remote location so if your plan is to spend your 7 days visiting other parts of Ireland, then be prepared for travel. Also aware that wifi is not available in the cottage and limited in town so do all of your research before you arrive. The loop head lighthouse is close and a must see. Overall, we had a great time. Thank you Monika, Chris and Mary.
We received clear information on how to find the town from the Shannon airport as well as how to get the key to the house. The Cottage/house was very comfortable with a wood stove for extra warmth at night. My husband, son, daughter, and I all enjoy playing ping-pong and were thrilled to find a table in the back yard rec shed. The town of Carringaholt is a gem. Not a lot of tourists, good food and drink down the street, and the dolphin watch trip is great fun. The drive out to the cliffs is not far and amazing in any weather.
We arrived in Carrigaholt to find a fire burning in the fireplace. This immediately set the tone for the entire stay. This cottage is in a beautiful part of Ireland and we spent the week surrounded by wonderful scenery and even better people. Monika is a great host and was extremely helpful whenever we had questions. I would not hesitate to return and enjoy this cottage in the future.
The Mulhall's are excellent hosts. The house was exactly what we expected, clean, cozy and quiet in a beautiful area of Ireland. Carrigaholt has some lovely pubs and the people are wonderful and helpful. Pat at the Post is an excellent source of knowledge on just about everything. If you stay in this part of Ireland do not miss Loop Head Lighthouse and the walk up the west coast. There are great swimming spots near the Bridges of Ross.
A nice, comfortable and cosy cottage in a small, remote village. Not far away from the exciting coast of Western Ireland. We enjoyed our stay very much and we recommend Mulhall's cottage for everybody who wants to explore this area.
We hope to come back to Carrigaholt and stay again in Monika's house.
