About this listing

A double bedroom on the lower (4th) floor of the clock tower at St Pancras Station. It has its own en suite bathroom. You are welcome to use the main kitchen and the clock tower, unless there are events being held there which I will tell you about.

The space

The Space

The apartment is in the clock tower above St Pancras International Station. This is one of two double bedrooms in the apartment, the other one being a self-contained guest suite normally occupied by other Airbnb guests.

A ten metre high room in the tower looks out on many of London's landmarks such as St Paul's Cathedral. A large kitchen on the top floor looks out over Kings Cross Station.

It is within walking distance of many of London's sights, from the British Library next door to the British Museum and the West End 20-25 minutes away. There are lots of shops in St Pancras Station and the best grocery store nearby is Waitrose in the Brunswick Centre.

As the apartment is on the 5th floor and fully equipped with secondary glazing, the road and railway noise is very low and almost nobody notices it but I would advise delicate sleepers to be aware of it before booking. The bedroom is also unsuitable for anyone for whom there is a problem with uncurtained large gothic windows. You cannot be seen from outside but the morning sun streams into the room and there are floodlights on the outside of the building to highlight the landmark.

There is additional bedding available by prior arrangement if you want an extra bed or mattress in the room. Clean towels and soap/shampoo are provided as standard.

Little things are provided in the flat, such as a hairdryer, international plug adaptors and umbrellas. Let me know if you need London Oyster cards for public transport (electronic cards for you to use and top up) or a UK SIM loaded cellphone.

The clock tower was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott like a church bell tower but never held bells. The clock never has and does not ring.

This listing is for the 4th floor master double bedroom and en suite bathroom above it. Unless there is an evening event taking place in the clock tower room (which I shall let you know about) you are very welcome to use the 5th floor kitchen and the clock tower room. There is enough kitchenware to run a restaurant (indeed we do have a popup restaurant several times a month) but there is no microwave. If you yourselves have particular plans, please share them with me so we can keep the diary clear.

There is central hi-fi throughout the house and a hifi jack in a wall in the room. The bedroom has just a small TV in it but there is a larger one in the main Clock Tower room.

If there are more than 2 of you or you want a different bed arrangement from a double bed (eg extra mattresses) please discuss this in advance with me before booking. As there are a lot of stairs and hazards, I really prefer not to take bookings with children under the age of 9 unless they are very closely supervised by their parents.

The other principal guest room in the apartment has its own bathroom and is on a separate listing, and both rooms may be occupied by Airbnb guests. So you will likely be sharing the place with other guests.

Occasionally the apartment is used for day functions, evening pop-up restaurants or photo shoots but I shall try to inform you of any such appointments. Both bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and lockable doors for security. It is also sometimes used by local community groups but I will let you know if it is.

I am as flexible as I can be on arrival and departure but it is essential that visitors consult me on and keep to their plans, so that I can manage my cleaner and bed changing and make sure there aren't two couples competing for the same bedroom at the same time of day.

I am willing to accept the business of one night bookings but reserve the right to ask you to change the bedding for the following visitor if time is tight.

I am not always at St Pancras because I spend a lot of time up in Cambridge where I am finishing the restoration and conversion of some buildings going back to the 16th century. I try to diary to meet my guests if I can but if I am not there when you arrive, the concierge will supply you with the key to the apartment.


If you want to hold a celebration party, please discuss it with me and please be fair to me in following the basic rules. Any events going beyond 2230 normally require a booking to be made for the whole apartment as it is otherwise unfair on other guests. There may be an additional charge for holding a party depending on the scale and duration. A 500 pound security deposit will normally be required for any groups in excess of 20. The main rules are that loud music does not go on beyond 2300, that guests do not mill out into the corridors of the building, that there is no glitter/confetti/paper string and that you agree to pay for any extra carpet cleaning required by large numbers.

Unfortunately we have had a few guests take advantage of us and I do therefore take the time to agree a clear timetable both for the party and for the clean-up. I expect guests to adhere to this not only for my benefit but also for the benefit of the neighbours.

Other Events

This is a listing for accommodation. You are of course welcome to take as many photographs as you like but if commercial photography shoots have to be booked separately and a higher rate will apply. Similarly, corporate presentations or product launches or dinners do not come under the tariff for the suite for the night's stay.

A super unique location very close to busses and the underground. Get a visitor's Oyster card before you leave home and getting anywhere will be a breeze. Pete is very responsive to questions and gives great advice.

Hello. Tim and I are pleased to call the Clock Tower of St Pancras our home. This is part of the fast-growing area which is Kings Cross in Central London. Being so well-connected within London, the UK and Europe, thanks to Eurostar, makes the Clock Tower an ideal base for any visit to London.

We moved to Kings Cross 30 years ago and have seen the area change from a dingy area of deserted rail depots and run-down shops to a district full of new restaurants, hotels and shopping and transport connections.

I am a pensions actuary, but nowadays I am involved in many other things, such as property maintenance and development, charity trusteeships, beekeeping and taking holidays myself in Airbnb properties elsewhere.

As a City of London guide myself, I have a passion about the warp and weft of my town and relish the chance to share this enthusiasm with my guests.
