Small house on the central market place with all convenience for a relaxed typical southern holiday. 100 meters from the beach. The french life at it's best.
In a nutshell:
Independent house on marketplace with 1 bedroom for 2 people. Terrace seats 4. Direct access to the beach.
Bikes available upon demand.
Free parking : 500 meters from the house.
This fisherman's house is in the town centre of Palavas, South of France.
The house dates from 1931 and lies in the town centre of this little coastal town in the South of France, 12 km from Montpellier.
You will be part of everyday life on this french square. It is busy in the summer and quiet and nice in the months before and after midsummer.
The house is in the middle of the pedestrian town centre, amidst the small cafes and restaurants and shops.
A small walk of 100 meters will bring you to the beach and the canal.
Palavas is a nice touristy place and it is just 12 km to Montpellier where you can go by bus or bike. A lovely riverside path brings you directly to the town center of Montpellier.
The house was completely refurbished in 2013. It is small and cosy with a touch of retro.
It has a ground floor with a living room, kitchen and bathroom.
The kitchen has a retro fridge, a Nespresso coffee machine
(coffee is included) (who can live without a decent cup of coffee?) an electric water kettle (for all our UK customers who can't live without a cup of tea), a microwave as well as an electric cooker. (for those who insist on cooking..) Plates, glasses, cutlery, pans etc for 4/6.
On the first floor you have two rooms. One air conditioned bedroom with a double bed and a small closed balcony to hang out towels and other stuff to dry. No particular view, just cozy dozing.
The second room is a television/reading room with a big cupboard for your clothes and luggage, a television, an iPod station and a futon couch. The room has a view on the marketplace and the watertower.
The house has a small terrace with plants a table for 4 that gives directly on the square, with direct view on and access to the terraces of the restaurants and the shops.
In midsummer it is a lovely place for people who like the summer buzz of Southern France. It is quiet at night, you live with the energy of a market place with restaurants.
You can enjoy the atmosphere on your own terrace, go to the beach or to one of the cafés alongside the canal.
In pre and postseason it is also lovely and a bit more quiet.
There is no train in Palavas. Public transport is the bus. Or else it is a short 45 minute trip per bike to Montpellier. There is a train station in Montpellier with TGV connection to Paris.
The airport is between Palavas and Montpellier and a taxi will bring you to Palavas in 15 minutes. We have Air France, Transavia and Ryan Air to connect you to Europe and the world.
In Palavas you have everything you need. Banks, post office, supermarkets, restaurants, cafés and shops.
If you like typical french surroundings, this marketplace with it's tiny house full of history will be the place for you.
The house provides everything you need for a relaxed holiday.
Interaction with Guests
We are there for our guests if you have any questions feel free to ask per mail or phone !
Place du Marché is really a typical french square. The buzz of the surrounding restaurants and cafés, the people coming in at the end of the day for a drink in the shadow. For me this is the mediterranean life.
You can come per car or bus. Unfortunately there is no train station in Palavas.
No strict rules. Smokers are kindly requested to smoke on the terrace and for the rest just feel at home.
Isabella is a very generous and helpful host who went out of her way to make our stay most enjoyable. Her charming and quaint little cottage is delightfully situated in the middle of a set of restaurants (literally on your doorstep) to enjoy a truly authentic Provencale experience from your 'private' terrace. The neighbours are also lovely and helpful in respecting your bit of the space. Despite the business what was most surprising was how quiet and cool it was once all shutters were closed. The place is small but has all that's needed: very comfortable bed, reliable wi-fi, espresso machine and lots of little thoughtful touches. Isa's restaurant recommendations were spot on, with Riva the most outstanding. We'll definitely be back un jour! Thank you Isabella.
Hello, thanks for all the constructive comments.:-) I have 2 pillows (but I thought you were on your own and then when I dropped the extra towel I thought I left the second one in the cupboard which was n't the case sorry. Will do better next time. Promise.
All the rest is noted and will be done. it is always good to have notes like this and I appreciate you doing it off line. take care of yourselves and your loved ones and look forward to seeing you again ! Isabella
My name is Isabella, I am dutch. I moved to France 22 years ago to study and I never left. I have lived in the North, Tours, Normandy, Sologne and I moved down South 18 years ago.
I have a small company and I export french food.
I love it here, the light, the ambiance, the food. Montpellier is a great city and area. You are not far from the sea, the mountains Pyrenees, Alps, and the Cevennes.
In the summer heat one can choose to go to the sea or to the riverside. I still find it amazing that one can swim in the local rivers and there are great spots to have lovely pick nicks.
In April- May and September till November we have beautiful weather with lovely temperatures.
In the summer it can get nice and hot and you will need the sea or the river to refresh you.
The local life in summer is filled with tradition and there is always something to do. Concerts, markets, local feasts.
So welcome and enjoy the South of France any time of the year!
