Interaction with Guests

I'll be around when you need me.
I understand you didn't come down to see me - handsome and charming as I may be.
However I will be at your disposal, if not your beck and call.

The Neighborhood

In my humble opinion, truly the best neighborhood in the city - if I say so Myself.

You can stay in Old San Juan and cab it to the beach: or you can stay in Ocean Park and have to hike it to dinner or wherever else..

This neighborhood is at the intersection of two of the best beaches in San Juan - Condado beach to the left and Ocean Park to the right.

It is on the edge of what is Condado's commercial district and its most desirable residential area. EVERTHING you'll want or need is short walking distance.

Why pick and choose when you can have it all!

Getting around

bus stops right around every corner
taxis everywhere

  • First of all, Steve is a wonderful guy and it was always enjoyable to talk with him. He was very helpful in pointing us to various points of interest in the city and practical matters such as the grocery store. His place is right next to the room, and he was almost always there if we needed something or had a question.

The overhead fan and light are broken in the room, however, there is a lamp and Steve provided us with a fan. The shower is pretty tiny and sometimes floods the bathroom floor a bit, but we usually only used it for a quick rinse after the beach so it was no problem.

The room is cozy and is perfect for relaxing and staying out of the sun for a while, and it is in the best location you could ask for. A block away from the beach, a block from the supermarket, a block from many different restaurant options, and did I mention a block away from the beach?

There is a weird little back stairwell you need to navigate to get to the room, but with our phone's flashlight function it was no problem.

Overall, it was a great experience and would highly recommend this room.

  • Steve (email hidden), very kind, helpful, and quick to respond to my messages. My friend and I enjoyed our very short stay in this small private room, with private entrance. The location was perfect, a block away from the beach and the supermarket, and 10 min drive (taxi ride) to Old San Juan and the airport. Don't be afraid to ask Steve for advice or help in finding anything around San Juan.

  • Steven’s place was perfect for what I needed… walking distance to the beach and Condado Beach social scene, privacy, comfy and clean sleeping space, and smoothies. He made me a delicious smoothie when I first arrived, which was awesome. Steven is as present as you’d like him to be, answering questions about the area and anything else you need. The room is ideal for solo (or even a couple) travelers, especially if you plan on being out and about most of the day and night and just need a place to clean yourself up and rest comfortably. My one suggestion? Make sure to have access to a mini-light, whether it be a flashlight or your cell phone, as the back, private stairs to the room are a little treacherous sans light. Thanks, Steven, for your hospitality!

  • Steven is really smiley and sweet. He responded fast to my last minute booking. There was no air conditioning as described, but he gave us a fan that really helped, plus the weather seems to cool down at night. Also he helped my friend when he needed someone who spoke Spanish to talk on the phone to a cab company. The bathroom is really small but clean.

  • Steven was a welcoming and accommodating host. The space was just as described, no-frills and cozy, separated from the rest of the apartment, just a block from the beach and a short walk from restaurants, bus stops, a 24-hour supermarket, etc. He was always there for a friendly chat or suggestion for a place to go. It was the perfect, affordable spot for a solo trip to San Juan and I would love to return someday.

  • Steven (email hidden)! Gave me a good rundown on where to go, what to see and how to get around. The room was great, very private and SO close to the beach! I left some sunscreen in the closet... So make your way to Puerto Rico, soak up some sun and enjoy!

  • My stay at Steve Freeman's place was a wonderful start to a great trip. Ending just over one week ago, it left me with many good memories. "No frills", while accurate, is a modest description. So the room was somewhat better than I expected. I would add clean, uncomplicated, private and relaxing to the description. The excellent location allowed me to see oceans waves coming in. The beach is two blocks away at most. I did not need the ceiling fan, natural evening winds sufficed. The sofa bed was comfortable. Although the was some confusion about my arrival time, my host was waiting for me when the taxi dropped me off. Steve, my host, welcomed me in a cordial yet respectful manner and was very helpful throughout the visit. Even when caring for other business, his responses to my voice and text messages arrived in timely fashion. He even took time to who me San Juan's massive fortress, vicinity and nearby eateries. I am appreciate that he showed me how to navigate these "must sees"! These are just some of the reasons I would highly rate and recommend this accommodation.

  • Steven's place was just how it was described. It's really a nice little room, private bathroom, separated from the rest of the unit. Steven was super helpful when we needed him. Definitely recommended.

  • The room was as advertised. Definitely no thrills and very third world accommodation to the extent that you probably should consider yourself at least slightly adventurous to stay there. Excellent location literally a minute from the beach and no more than five minutes from many restaurants, taxi and bus stops, and basic residential shopping. Also only fifteen minutes on foot from full tourist Condado if you're into that. It is on the inside of a residential block so it is isolated from the busy traffic corridors nearby. Steven was a very good host - informative when needed, invisible when not. He's 100% bilingual so it was easy to discuss subtleties of various activities in the area.
