Carole was a great host and she has a wonderful property. The property has great view to the hills and a lively garden.
She gave me great advises on what to do in the area and great ways to save money on the trip.
Love to stay with her again if I am back in the area.
Caröle and Tony gave us such a warm welcome. The house is pretty cool and very clean. The Garden is lovely like the view. The breakfast was really great with scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and warm bread and Croissants, muesli and homemade Joghurt. They offered us very helpful recommendations and help to all our questions. Thank you very much and we love the two dogs:)) we would like to stay in contact( we'll send the Photos soon!), so we can Come back next time. Of course you are invited to our house in Germany
Carole&Tony were very welcoming and friendly couple. We liked to talk to them especially in the mornings during and after our breakfast. The breakfast was rich and delicious for us and our 4 year old daughters. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. You will love the shower!!
It has a spacious and very well cared garden. It was located in a picturesque area. We really loved our stay there and would like to stay there in our next trip to Nelson. It is definitely recommended!!!
Excellent communication and follow ups. Being a country location Carole was keen to ensure that we had no trouble finding The Barn and gave us clear driving instructions so navigation was a breeze. The rooms were spotlessly clean and tidy and the master bedroom spacious and well appointed, while the breakfast set us up well for the day ahead. The shower is FANTASTIC...if you have ever crouched under a shower head trying to direct the meagre flow over your body then the incredible jet on this one will bring a smile to your face!
Carole & Tony are very friendly and welcoming hosts and a wealth of knowledge about the local area. Carole came up with some excellent suggestions of things that were on in the community that we are very pleased we got to. It was a delight to meet them and chat with them and we would stay there again in the blink of an eye.
This concludes my first stay at a bed and breakfast, and let me tell you Carole and her family could not have been more hospitable. It was a great experience and is located in one of the most beautiful spots Nelson/Moutere area has to offer. Carole was outstanding helpful in finding local establishments to visit, resulting in an amazing single day visit. The price we paid was perfect for what we were looking for. I will without a doubt opt to stay here again the next time I am in that area. Thanks Carole and family for a wonderful experience and hope to see you all in the not too distant future! Cheers!
Really Lovely Stay!! Love the house and Carole is definitely a wonderful host! she's been really helpful and even printed out the map for our next destination! Thanks!
We had a great stay in the barn! The two rooms with our private bathroom were perfect for our group conisting of four people. We liked the warm house and the outdoor area looked very nice (unfortunately we couldn't use it because it was too cold). Everything was very clean and nicely decorated. Carole is a friendly and very helpful host. We would definitely stay here again!
We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us as much as we enjoyed having you here – thank you for choosing us and your kind review. We hope we may meet you all again someday (and hopefully, by then, the famous Nelson sunshine will have returned so that you can enjoy the outside area!)
Hi, I'm Carole - my husband Tony and I are originally from the UK but have been in the Nelson / Tasman region of New Zealand for 13 years, and running bed and breakfast accommodation for about 10 years. We currently live in a large Dutch barn-shape property set in its own grounds, in beautiful Redwood Valley overlooking the Moutere Hills and Richmond mountain ranges. The accommodation is available for 1 - 4 people in two bedrooms. Under Airbnb categories we are listed as a 'private room' but the accommodation is more than that. It comprises of a Queen bedroom plus private bathroom with power shower, and we also have an optional additional bedroom with 2 x single beds. This extra bedroom is only offered to people from the same group so you will plenty of privacy and never have to the share facilities with other guest groups.
The bottom floor of the barn is used for bed and breakfast guests so as there are no stairs, it may be suitable for those with challenged mobility. Breakfast is included and can be served either on the guest patio, in our upstairs dining area, or alfresco (weather permitting). We live on the top floor with our adult son Sam (a fluent Japanese speaker) and two small white dogs (Edith the poodle, Bobby the bichon) so are on hand if guests need any help or advice.
Although you could be forgiven from thinking we are in the heart of the countryside, we are only a short drive from Mapua (8 minutes), Rabbit Island (5 mins) Nelson (25 mins), Richmond (12 mins).
There are several cycle and walking tracks nearby and we provide secure storage for those with their own bikes or you can hire them from Mapua. For those with cars, we have plenty of off-street parking.
