  • We had a great stay in the barn! The two rooms with our private bathroom were perfect for our group conisting of four people. We liked the warm house and the outdoor area looked very nice (unfortunately we couldn't use it because it was too cold). Everything was very clean and nicely decorated. Carole is a friendly and very helpful host. We would definitely stay here again!

    Response from Carole:

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us as much as we enjoyed having you here – thank you for choosing us and your kind review. We hope we may meet you all again someday (and hopefully, by then, the famous Nelson sunshine will have returned so that you can enjoy the outside area!)

  • We had a wonderful stay at The Barn. The bigger room with a lovely view was perfect, the other one with the bunk beds was smaller (as expected). But the large bathroom and the outdoor area (with our own BBQ) completely made up for that. We were welcomed warmly by Carole. With her long BnB experience she answered all questions before we could even think of any. The continental breakfast was a great start to our days, as were Carole's recommendations on where to go and what to do in the area. Thanks again for everything, including the laundry service which left us well prepared for the next weeks of our journey.

Hi Morten, It was a pleasure to have your group stay with us, thank you. Your comprehensive review is most welcome and we are glad that enjoyed the breakfast and facilities. It is fortunate you experienced the lovely nelson weather so could make use of recommendations of places to visit, then make use our outdoor facilities when back at The Barn! Thanks again for choosing to stay with us.

  • Thanks to Carole for a very pleasant 1 night stay in her lovely clean downstairs bedrooms, with my partner and 2 young adults daughters.Shes was very friendly and helpful with lots of local knowledge. Her breakfast spread was above and beyond any expectation.
I especially liked the outdoor area available to guests.
Thanks Carole for our first bnb experience !

Thank you for your kind review. We are very happy to hear you found everything to be clean and that you especially liked the breakfast! Good luck and we wish you all a safe journey on your upcoming European trip and your future AirBnB hosts (they will be delighted to have such nice guests as your family!)

  • Carole was a great host! We had a late check-in driving in from Picton and knew we had found the right place when we saw her waving from the top Porch. The accommodations were cozy and comfortable with great views of her garden at night. Carole had even printed off some events that were happening in the area because she knew we were only in the area for a short while.

The next morning we were greeted with a wonderful breakfast followed by coffee on the top deck and wonderful conversation with Carole and her husband.

WHEN we return to New Zealand we will certainly be stopping in Nelson to pickup where we left off.

About
Hi, we have a large Dutch barn set in its own grounds, in the Nelson / Tasman region in New Zealand. My husband Tony and I are originally from the UK but work from home on our internet based business, selling products for special educational needs (Real Special Ltd). The bottom floor of the home is used for the bed and breakfast accommodation. As there are no stairs, it may be suitable for those with challenged mobility. We live on the top floor with our son and two small white dogs (Edith the poodle, Bobby the bichon) so are on hand if guests need any help. Outside we gave a selection of fruit trees planted - some of which may be included in your continental breakfast if in season. There is plenty of off-street parking. The accommodation comprises of a large private bedroom plus private bathroom plus we also have an optional additional single bedroom - please contact us for further details.Japanese guests are welcome as our son is fluent in Japanese. We can also offer additional help for Deaf guests, such as a specialist smoke alarm.
