We enjoyed staying at Claudio's. The rooms were comfortable and nicely furnished.
Hearing the river flow by was lovely.
Claudio was very welcoming, we brought our dog and although Emilio (who is a really good dog) did not like other dogs in his garden, it all worked out happily . Great place
We had such a wonderful 4 night stay at Claudio’s B & B La Martellina! The Leccio room was perfect. It was peaceful, and getting to know Claudio, and some of the wonderful guests at breakfast (yum!) made the stay even more delightful.
As many other reviews note, La Martellina is on the Arno River, just 4 miles from Florence. We had no problem taking the bus (14a). However, a highlight was riding bikes along the bike path which runs along the Arno to Florence.
One day, we ended up parking our bikes (Claudio has a stash of different kinds - mountain bikes, and single speed ones with big baskets and rack on back. Also, bike locks and keys are included). We chose the single speed with baskets to be able to shop and bring back items. We parked our bikes near Pitti palace very easily, and spent the day on foot.
We both very much enjoyed staying in Girone, in the Tuscan Countryside, and being able to relax away from the crowded Old City Streets of Firenze. Highly recommend and look forward to staying at Claudio’s place again soon!
Claudio was a lovely host. I really enjoyed my stay here. I had excellent sleeps in this room! It is a great base to explore both Fiesole and Florence. I didn't have a car and it was easy and straightforward access via bus from Florence train station. Peaceful, restful and a lovely atmosphere. It was also nice to meet and interact with others staying at the b & b. Thanks Claudio.
We spent a thoroughly enjoyable 2 nights at Claudio's villa and found him to be a generous and helpful host. A very relaxed and serene environment at the end of the street, yet with easy access by bus to the city.
We had a great stay with Claudio at B&B La Martellina.
The house is set in a lovely location along the river, very peaceful and quiet. There were a few other people staying while we were there but the house was large enough that it didn't feel busy or crowded.
The B&B is located in Fiesole, a very small town outside of Florence that has the basic amenities - pharmacy, restaurant, etc. We happened to stay during Fiesole's annual truffle festival (!) which made the stay even better.
Florence is an easy bus ride away (about 30 minutes to the centre of the city) and would have been an easy drive, too.
The room itself was nice and cozy and looked out over the garden. Not entirely soundproof (I did wake up to the sound of talking on the first morning, though I'm a relatively light sleeper) but quiet enough that you can get a good sleep. On our second night there was a massive thunderstorm right outside the property, but we felt safe and sound the whole time.
Breakfast was lovely - we ate outside at a big communal table with views out over the river, and Claudio spent time chatting with the guests. He's a cheerful and gregarious host and was happy to help give us tips on how to get into and around Florence.
And of course, Emilio (the dog) and Tiger (the cat) are adorable additions to the B&B.
Overall we had a great time, and the price is right. I'd definitely consider staying again if I ever find myself in Florence, which I hope to!
B&B La Martellina is a beautiful property in a small village on the Fiume Arno just outside of Florence. Claudio, the owner/host, is extremely friendly and Emilio, the big pup that patrols the garden, might be the sweetest thing that ever was.
Transit to and from the city center by bus is very easy or, if you are so inclined, Claudio will lend you one of his several bicycles and you can take the trail along the river all the way in to the city! I recommend taking the bikes in to town at least once. The trail is predominantly flat and the scenery is something not to be missed.
Breakfast was great and Claudio was very sensitive to our vegetarian needs.
My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at La Martellina and recommend it to anyone traveling to Florence! Thanks Claudio!
I had a 3 nights stay at the Leccio Room and it was a wonderful experience. Fell in love with Florence and one of it is because of our place of stay. Claudio was a wonderful host too! So helpful and provided us useful information. The breakfast was great, I think it's the best in our trip. The room was also clean and comfortable. My husband and I had a great time exploring beautiful cities, Florence and Siena, and to stay at La Martellina was a great decision. Very nice view, only 10 minutes to downtown Florence, and have private parking. We will definitely go back and recommend the BnB!
