About this listing
Location: Glen Ellen, CA
Accommodations: Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)
This wine country cottage sits in a sunny spot on a private lane just off Warm Springs Road. Your experience here will be peaceful and private, with only a few deer crossing the property occasionally. The two bedroom home provides you with a cozy atmosphere, closeness to Glen Ellen with a large, beautiful patio space to use for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is also outdoor space for casual get togethers and another area for those who like to while away their time on comfortable lounge chairs. Inside you will find 2 queen bedrooms, a full-size kitchen, cozy dining area, attractive living room and an additional media room for watching TV or movies on the flat screen. The cottage was renovated this year.
All of this is surrounded by the great Sonoma Wine Country. Glen Ellen itself has several award winning wineries, sophisticated restaurants, or you can just enjoy bliss of relaxing with a glass of local wine, get the grill going, and prepare something from the incredible selection at the Glen Ellen Village Market.
Close by you will find the Sonoma Valley Regional Park (great for running and hiking!), or the famous Jack London State Historic Park with its Jack London Museum and peaceful gardens. The cottage is also only a three minute walk to Morton's Warm Springs where you can dip into their pools on a hot day. Or take scenic Warm Springs Road to the Kenwood area for more wine (email hidden). Jean or several other notable wineries.
Ron was very easy to reach and easy to work with. The home itself was a little smaller than we had thought from the pictures- but it had everything it said. The kitchen was smaller than we thought but in the end, very easy to cook in. If you're going for wine country- this is a great place to rest your head at night and have breakfast at in the morning. If you're going to spend a lot of time in a space (with family or friends) I might look for something a little bigger with thicker walls between bedrooms.
The photos are a great likeness and the open floorplan creates a sense of comfort. The home was very clean and fairly well stocked as far as cooking utensils and a few staples left behind from other guests. The beds are really comfortable and the rooms are a nice size.
We loved the patio in the evening as it was much cooler outside.
There isn't air conditioning and parts of the house are too warm to hang out and relax. However, the house is shaded by trees and bedrooms cooled down in the after dark with the windows opened.
We decided to BBQ on the Fourth of July and as soon as the meat was ready the wasps arrived. We took our food into the sun room but it was too hot to eat in there. The windows don't open and nor does the door to the outside. This is when we discovered the ceiling would shower us with insulation each time we opened and closed the door to the room.
This property is beautiful which is most likely why it's booked solid. We tried to come a day early but it wasn't available which was a bummer but understandable.
We woke up late around 9:30 (website hidden) our final day which was the Sunday, July 5th which was the day after the holiday. We were hoping to take showers, pack our things and maybe even have breakfast. I emailed our host to ask about flexibility with the 11:00 (website hidden) check out time and he got back to me promptly which I greatly appreciate. Unfortunately someone was checking in at 3:00 p.m. and he shared the house cleaner would arrive at 11:00 a.m. at which time we needed to exit the property. We had to do some scrambling to get dressed and packed; the house cleaner was very prompt. Next time we'll set an alarm for 8:00 a.m. to ensure we can at least have a shower and coffee.
Overall the group rated this place as 4.5 out of 5.
Wonderful home and excellent experience. Enjoyed the location being conveniently next to Hwy 12 and right near wineries. The property was beautiful and beyond expectations, very clean and well maintained.
I will definitely plan on returning on our next trip to wine country.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Beautiful home in a beautiful location. We had a relaxing and very enjoyable time at the cottage.
I had a phenomenal experience at Ron's house. The house was clean and had all of the amenities necessary for a relaxing week in Napa. I highly recommend working with Ron and staying at his cottage.
Ron's place is set back on quiet road from main thorough fare of Glen Ellen. The place suited our needs perfectly and it is very peaceful area but yet not too far from Glen Ellen village. I would happily stay here again!
Cozy cottage tucked in the woods. All the comforts of home. Secluded location yet close enough to town, great restaurants, and wineries.
