Interaction with Guests
We will welcome you and show you around. We are busy yet like to visit if circumstances allow. We are also respectful of people with a schedule Either is fine.
I love how we are set so privately with our big yard, flowers and fruit trees, chickens and rabbit and yet only minutes to any convenience. I love our home with its wood floors, big french windows and amazing flow. I love the kitchen that even chefs say "wow" and the sunroom where we sing and play music summer evenings or the living room where we play games by the fire winter evenings. We are clean and comfortable. Life is good!!
Public transportation, train, bus or plane will get you to the area but you will want a car or bike to get around. the local bus is limited. Cabs are not too expensive but will be your main transport if you don't have your own. We will help some as we can but shouldn't be considered the only transport for your visit. You can walk to a whole foods type store, the movies, the post office -they are very close but the road is busy.
Other Things to Note
We do have 2 clean indoor/outdoor cats. We recently got chicks and my Son's rabbit comes and visits with them. I wash with unscented or scented tide and downey softener. We like to do a nice breakfast Sundays. Other days are cereal or yogurt...what's available. Always good Sumatran coffee.
Smoke outside, be nice, enjoy your stay. No glass in the hot tub. Friendly, well behaved pets may visit too.
Dawn is a very considerate welcoming hostess and made me feel like her family. I thoroughly enjoyed staying with her and will again.
We had a wonderful time in New Windsor, thanks to Dawn and Rich's amazing hospitality. The room was exactly as listed--charming, clean, and spacious. Our hosts were full of terrific tips and suggestions for our weekend getaway, like an underrated local hike with a terrific vista of the Hudson Valley. Dawn was kind enough to pick us up at the ferry station from the Metro North terminal, and she and Rich made us a delicious breakfast each morning. We would happily stay here again on our next Beacon/Storm King visit.
Dawn's place is well situated near Newbourgh, a short drive to Storm King, West Point, Beacon, Dia Modern Art Museum, Mohonk and Minnewaska. Good to serve as a home base if you want to go to those places.
Dawn and Richy are gracious and down-to-earth hosts. We were made feeling at home the moment we went in. Flowers and a personlized letter on the night stand are a nice touch. We were free to use the kitchen, living room and the hot tub, and invited to join other guests for conversation and music. We enjoyed the homey breakfast and chit chat sitting in the porch in a lazy Labor Day morning.
If you need a place that is convenient, hospitable, comfortable and a good value in the Hudson valley, this is the place to be!
Dawn and Richy are warm, generous and helpful hosts. They prepared a very hearty breakfast for us and recommended more things than we could have possibly done during our three days in the area! As the description mentioned, we felt right at home - even watched an old Audrey Hepburn movie in the living room our last night. The bedroom is comfortable in the homey colonial and their 3 cats are friendly, too.
We enjoyed our stay in this house with our host Dawn and Richi and other guests. It was easy to have contact, after arriving we were invited to sing and play guitar with the host and the friends, a very nice evening.
Dawn and her husband Richie were fantastic hosts. We had a really pleasant stay with them (our dog did too) while in the Hudson Valley for a wedding. They were super helpful in finding restaurants and giving ideas about what to see in the area. The house itself was warm and inviting. Our room was great and we woke up each morning and spent time over coffee with Dawn and Richie. It is nice to stay with people who really make you feel welcome and who are outgoing. We would recommend this to anyone and if ever in the Hudson Valley area again we will come back.

About the Host, Dawn
A lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley I became an independent real estate investor after a successful 20+ yr career in Brokerage. This gives me wonderful flexibility and travel, gardening, and great books are some of my hobbies. I also love to cook. I am a guest as well as a host. I have always preferred to stay like a local rather than in hotels where you meet mostly other tourists. I love the operas in Prague, the market in the Blessed Valley, the french quarter in the early morning and the hot sweet cacophany India. I want to get the feel of an area I am visiting, Airbnb is great for that. My hosts help me discover the treasures of an area I would probably have missed in a short stay and give me a home base to relax after a days exploring. I have a great husband, Richy, and 3 wonderful kids, who usually don't live at home (the kids that is) but visit often. We also host the kids cats occasionally and are open to well behaved friendly pet visitors. We love having guests and have always hosted. Family from out of town, exchange students that still come and bring their families , friends from other parts all have a home here. Richy is retired now and an avid hiker, writing a book on the Hudson Highlands, so if you like the natural beauty of the Hudson Highlands he is a wealth of information. We enjoy the opportunity of introducing to our area to others. Dia and Storm King Art Center are both nearby as well as West Point Military Academy and Woodbury Commons. The majestic Hudson is about 2 blocks away and there is a public park to launch boats there. (Plum Point Park) It is about 1 hour to NYC. We are flexible and happy. Life is good!! We welcome your visit.
