The house is very convenient for anyone coming to the University of Birmingham. We're just 10 min. away from University train station and the main entrance of the University of Birmingham. We're also 6 minutes away from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The house is close to Harborne High Street, which features a number of restaurants, cafés, charity shops, a supermarket, mini-markets, a farmers' market on some Saturday mornings, and number of very good pubs, including The Plough, one of South Birmingham's most popular pubs! There's also an off-licence just around the corner, where you can buy milk, bread, fruit, etc.
If you're coming from Birmingham Airport, you need to take a train to Birmingham New Street (the central station) and then change to another train to University. The whole trip from the Airport takes about 30 minutes and is very comfortable.
You'll be sharing the house with 3 people in total (1 posgrad and 2 academics).
Please note that check-out is at 11:00 and the check-in is after 12:30. This will give me time to get the room ready. If you are arriving earlier or plan to leave later, please let me know in advance and we can work something out.
We have several appliances you can use to cook your own food. We have a blender, a toaster, a microwave, a fridge, an oven, a kettle, several pans, plates and trays. Of course we'll provide you with everything necessary to fix yourself a cup of tea or coffee.
You are also very welcome to use our washing machine and dryer so there's no need to bring lots of clothes.
Interaction with Guests
We love to chat with our guests, but we also try to adapt to their needs. If you feel sociable, we'd like to talk and hang out :) (unless we have a pressing deadline, work or some other commitments). If you need quietness and want to be alone that's perfectly fine, we don't mind!! We'd like you to feel as comfortable as possible.
The neighbourhood is quiet and safe. Most of the residents are families, professionals and postgraduate students.
The house is very close to University train station as well as to some bus stops. There are several buses that stop at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which is 6 minutes away. They cover many routes and many of them can take you straight to town in around 15 minutes.

About the Host, Flor
I'm currently teaching at Aston and I was a student at the University of Birmingham for a few years, so I know the city fairly well. I love travelling and learning about other cultures; so far my favourite cities are Venice, London and Paris, although I'm also in love with Oslo, Rome, Trieste and a few other mediterranean places. I have stayed in many AirBnBs and I have hosted many people, which has allowed me to make good friends around the world.
I really enjoy good food: especially Italian and Greek dishes, I'm always looking for the perfect moussaka! I can say that I'm a bit bookish: I'm a fan of Ken Follet and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I also love going to the theatre and to museums. My favourites are the Louvre, the Met and the Rijksmuseum.
