The Space

IF YOU DON'T FIND THE DATES YOU WANT AVAILABLE SEND ME A MESSAGE AS WE HAVE A DOUBLE BEDROOM WE RENT FOR SHORT PERIODS.

This is a single bedroom in a postgraduate student house within a walking distance of the University of Birmingham and University train station (approx. 10 minutes).

The room has a single bed, a wardrobe, foldable desk and chair.
We provide fresh bedding and a towel for your personal use. Pleas, let me know in advance if you have any special requirements.

The house is very convenient for anyone coming to the University for a conference, research trip, etc. We're also five minutes away from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The house is close to Harborne High Street, which features a number of restaurants, cafés, charity shops, a supermarket, mini-markets, a farmers' market on Saturday mornings, and number of very good pubs, including The Plough, one of South Birmingham's most popular pubs! There's also an off-licence just around the corner, where you can buy milk, bread, fruit, etc.

If you're coming from Birmingham airport, you need to take a train in Birmingham New Street (the central station) and then change to another train to University. The whole trip from the Airport takes about 30 minutes and is very comfortable.

You'll be sharing the house with 2 or 3 postgraduate students.

The check-out is at 11:00 and the check-in is after 12:30. This will give me time to get the room ready. If you are arriving earlier or plan to leave later, please let me know in advance and we can work something out.

Guest Access

We have several appliances you can use so you can cook your own food. We have a blender, a toaster, a microwave, a fridge, an oven and a kettle. Of course we'll provide you with everything necessary to fix yourself a cup of tea or coffee.
You are also very welcome to use our washing machine and dryer so there's no need to bring lots of clothes.

Interaction with Guests

We love to chat with our guests, but we also try to adapt to their needs. If you feel sociable, we'd like to talk and hang out :) (unless we have a pressing deadline, work or some other commitments). If you need quietness and want to be alone that's perfectly fine, we don't mind!! We'd like you to feel as comfortable as possible.

The Neighborhood

The neighbourhood is quiet and safe. Most of the residents are families, professionals and postgraduate students.

Getting around

The house is very close to University train station as well as to some bus stops. There are several buses that stop at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which is 5 minuts away.
Note that there is no parking space, but you can park in nearby roads.

Other Things to Note

Please note that no meals are included.

  • Flor's apartment is beautiful and clean, and very convenient for visitors to the University. It's also a quick two-stop ride into the city center of Birmingham. The room is cozy and it's a fine size for one person. Just be sure to look at a map in addition to Flor's directions before you get off the train, because the walk is actually little bit confusing if you're not familiar with the area. I didn't meet Flor because she was out of town, but she was very helpful and responsive and checked in multiple times to make sure everything was going smoothly. Definitely recommend!

  • Flor is an excellent host. My flight was delayed for 7 hours and she ends up need to adjust her time for going out to let me in. She makes sure i got check in ok. She is very friendly and we had great conversation. Her home is spotless clean. I saw she has done lots of cleaning before and after and you will be very happy with the cleanliness of the house. I consider 15 to 30 minutes of commute to the center and other major neighborhood is a reasonable one.

  • I had a very comfortable stay at Flor’s house. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it took no time at all to feel at home. The bed is huge and very comfy! The location is great with good links to the city and the street is very quiet especially at night. Flor and Ivan were excellent hosts and I hope to return and stay with them next time I am in the city. Flor went out of her way to arrange one more night for me which finally I didn't need although I remain very appreciative for her efforts. Highly recommended!

  • A pleasing stay. A quiet area, comfortable bed, polite hosts, simple abode, near to bus and train. If you drive, plan to park down the road a ways as there is no parking in the street.

  • I highly recommend staying with Flor and Ivan. They are absolutely lovely hosts and want to do all they can to make sure you enjoy your visit. The room is small, but has a little desk, and a wardrobe with hanging space and shelves. The bed is comfortable, and the internet access is very good.

  • I had a great time at Flor's place. She and her flatmates were very friendly and helpful and let me use everything I needed in the house and always were open for quick chat.
Her place is in short walking distance to the Edgbaston Campus where I had some research to do and the room/house provided everything I needed for my stay, so it was a perfect choice.
