This is a single bedroom in a postgraduate student house within a walking distance of the University of Birmingham and University train station (approx. 10 minutes).
The room has a single bed, a foldable desk and a wardrobe. If you need more space you can use the living room and all the other amenities: garden, kitchen & bathroom.
We also have several appliances you can use so you can cook your own food. We have blender, toaster, microwave, fridge, oven and kettle. And of course we'll provide you with everything necessary to fix yourself a cup of tea of coffee.
You are also very welcome to use our washing machine and dryer so there's no need to bring lots of clothes.
We provide fresh bedding and a towel for your personal use. Let me know as well if you have any special requirements.
Our house is close to the Harborne High Street, which features a number of restaurants, cafés, charity shops, a supermarket, mini-markets, a farmers' market on Saturday mornings, and number of very good pubs, including The Plough, one of South Birmingham's most popular pubs! There's also an off-licence just around the corner, where you can buy milk, bread, fruit, etc.
If you're coming to Birmingham to visit the NEC or take a plane from the Birmingham Airport, you can also take the train to Birmingham New Street, where you will need to change to another train to the Birmingham International train station. The whole trip takes about 25 minutes and is very comfortable.
You'll be sharing the house with 3 posgraduate students, so we ask you not to be too noisy as we work from home.
The neighbourhood is quiet and safe. Most of the residents are families, professionals and postgraduate students.
The check-in and check-out times are flexible, but please let me know at least 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE when you will be arriving as I need to plan my day to guarantee a smooth check-in.
I would also appreciate if you leave the room around 11 if we expect another guest, so I can clean it. However, you are welcome to stay in the house or leave your stuff after that time.
Please note that no meals are included.
Thanks to Flor for her hospitality, it was a great first night in Birmingham with some enlightening conversations!
Flor and Ivan are lovely hosts. I stayed with them for 5 days while I was doing research at the University of Birmingham. They are very helpful and pointed out where I could get all the essentials (groceries, how to use transport, etc). The room is very small and basic, but it's very comfy, provides a good night's sleep, and you have the use of the giant living room downstairs if you're feeling cramped. Great value for price. Would definitely recommend and stay again. -S.
Flor and Ivan were wonderful hosts. I arrived at the Birmingham airport at 630am after an exhausting overseas flight, and Flor welcomed me at the apartment about an hour later; I was so grateful to finally get to a bed, and I expect I was probably the earliest arrival they've ever had, given that my reservation began that evening.
I had only a few days to explore Birmingham, and Flor and Ivan gave me excellent recommendations for places to go, both in the city center and for a lovely park on a sunny day when I was looking to spend time outside. If I were to visit the University of Birmingham again, I would definitely choose to stay at Flor and Ivan's.
Flor and Ivan are very kind hosts, and their place is really well-located for anyone coming from the University of Birmingham, as I was. The bedroom is small but clean and well-suited for a no-frills stay. I'm hoping to come back next time I stay the night in Birmingham!
Flor was really friendly and easy to communicate with. The bedroom was basic but comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. I didn't use the kitchen but there's tea and coffee for you. It's really convenient for the university and hospital and better than a hotel!
Flor is a delightful host, and my room was very comfortable. I felt very welcome at the house, which was within easy walking distance of the the university, where I was attending an event. I would recommend staying here. The house is also within very easy walking distance of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and there are good transport links to central Birmingham.
Flor has been a fantastic host! Really clean house and very nice environment! It was a pleasure sharing a few days with them! Highly recommended!
I stayed with Flor and Ivan for 8 nights. They were so accommodating and truly lovely people. I felt like it was a home away from home. My room was small, but comfortable and I had a cupboard to put my clothes in. The lounge room was really homely and Flor and Ivan didn't mind that I made myself comfy on the couch to study. I hooked into the WiFi which was fast and a strong connection. The house is in a nice area with pubs, supermarkets, Birmingham uni and the university train station within a 15 minute walk. I would highly recommend this accommodation for travellers. My whole stay was perfect and I enjoyed every minute of it!
Simple, basic, and very good. Flor is a very good host, attentive and helpful. I had very interesting conversations with her and her partner, Ivan, both of them being very intelligent and open-minded. For the price: Highly recommended!
I was in Birmingham for a conference and had to stay somewhere an extra night. Flor's place was very convenient, within walking distance of the campus and the train station. The house was very clean. The room is small, but it has all you need. I got to use the kitchen for tea, it's also small, but clean and well equipped. There is a very nice backyard, but unfortunately it was too cold to go out. Flor was a great host, very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a very good deal for anyone visiting the area.
