Flor and Ivan were very accommodating and conscientious hosts. The flat is very conveniently located near the university (10 minute walk), and so a good choice if attending a conference or event at University of B'ham. The room is quite small, but has everything you need for a comfortable night's sleep. Very clean flat, very nice people--a good option if you need to stay near the university or hospital.
I had a weeklong conference at University of Birmingham, and this was an excellent choice for my needs; an 8-minute walk to campus or the University train station. Provided directions were perfect. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, and quickly responded to email inquiries. I had been traveling for a few weeks, and they helped me do a load of laundry. Bed was quite comfortable and everything clean. No air conditioning, but I slept with the window open and got a nice breeze. The neighborhood feels good, and there is a well-stocked convenience store within 2-minute walk, open from 6 am to 10 pm. The room is a second floor walkup and is petite; about 2.2 x 2.5 meters. I don't like plug in room fresheners, so just removed it and put it in a plastic bag. It would be fine to stay again, and I recommend it for convenience to the University and large hospital. Thank you for helping me with an enjoyable stay in your city!
Flor herself wasn't there while I was, but her partner Ivan was a very friendly and gracious host. For anyone needing a room in the Harborne / Selly Oak / university area, this is worth recommending, and I would be happy to stay here again.
I really had a nice time staying at Flor's house in Birmingham. Flor along with the other two people staying at the house, welcomed me in their home and treated me as a friend. Although I was at the university for most of the time, when I came home, we always had fun conversations and laughs. This airbnb is perfect for people looking for a quiet place to stay near the university or hospital. Although the room is quite small, it still feels like a nice and clean space. I would definitely recommend this room to my friends.
Ivan and Flor's house was the best house I could have had. I was with them for about 1 week while I was searching for a new flat, but in this short time they treated me like one of their family. It was the first time I moved to the Uk,and I didn't know almost nothing about the city, and I was also a bit scared.... so they helped me a lot for all needs, giving me useful advices and making me fell at home. The house is also pretty and with all the comforts inside. Is no easy matter the nearness to the hospital and to the University of Birmingham (5-10 minutes walk). I recommend this nice place to all the people coming in Birmingham. I'm sure here you will enjoy the stay!
Flor and her housemates are absolutely wonderful hosts and very nice folks. We talked about living in Birmingham and exchanged Icelandic music tips. Flor is truly kind and helpful. Plus I had a great night's sleep. My first AirBnB experience could not have been better.
Flor was an excellent and very conscientious host. She contacted me beforehand confirm what time I was arriving. The house was extremely clean. She had tea and coffee for me to during my stay, and also had an extra basket of toiletries available. There were also hangers and a space heater in the room. She was very friendly and I had some great conversations with her and her partner Ivan.
About the Host, Flor
I'm currently teaching at Aston and I was a student at the University of Birmingham for a few years, so I know the city fairly well. I love travelling and learning about other cultures; so far my favourite cities are Venice, London and Paris, although I'm also in love with Oslo, Rome, Trieste and a few other mediterranean places. I have stayed in many AirBnBs and I have hosted many people, which has allowed me to make good friends around the world.
I really enjoy good food: especially Italian and Greek dishes, I'm always looking for the perfect moussaka! I can say that I'm a bit bookish: I'm a fan of Ken Follet and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I also love going to the theatre and to museums. My favourites are the Louvre, the Met and the Rijksmuseum.
