This is a single bedroom in a postgraduate student house within a walking distance of the University of Birmingham and University train station (approx. 10 minutes).
The room has a single bed, a wardrobe with hangers, bookshelves, a desk and a foldable chair.
We provide fresh bedding, a towel, hairdryer, shampoo and body wash for your personal use. Please, let me know in advance if you have any special requirements.
The house is very convenient for anyone coming to the University of Birmingham. We're just 10 min. away from University train station and the main entrance of the University of Birmingham. We're also 6 minutes away from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The house is close to Harborne High Street, which features a number of restaurants, cafés, charity shops, a supermarket, mini-markets, a farmers' market on some Saturday mornings, and number of very good pubs, including The Plough, one of South Birmingham's most popular pubs! There's also an off-licence just around the corner, where you can buy milk, bread, fruit, etc.
If you're coming from Birmingham Airport, you need to take a train to Birmingham New Street (the central station) and then change to another train to University. The whole trip from the Airport takes about 30 minutes and is very comfortable.
You'll be sharing the house with 3 people in total (1 posgrad and 2 academics).
Please note that check-out is at 11:00 and the check-in is after 12:30. This will give me time to get the room ready. If you are arriving earlier or plan to leave later, please let me know in advance and we can work something out.
We have several appliances you can use to cook your own food. We have a blender, a toaster, a microwave, a fridge, an oven, a kettle, several pans, plates and trays. Of course we'll provide you with everything necessary to fix yourself a cup of tea or coffee.
You are also very welcome to use our washing machine and dryer so there's no need to bring lots of clothes.
Interaction with Guests
We love to chat with our guests, but we also try to adapt to their needs. If you feel sociable, we'd like to talk and hang out :) (unless we have a pressing deadline, work or some other commitments). If you need quietness and want to be alone that's perfectly fine, we don't mind!! We'd like you to feel as comfortable as possible.
The neighbourhood is quiet and safe. Most of the residents are families, professionals and postgraduate students.
The house is very close to University train station as well as to some bus stops. There are several buses that stop at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which is 6 minutes away. They cover many routes and many of them can take you straight to town in around 15 minutes.
Note that there is no parking space outside the house, but you can park in nearby roads.
Other Things to Note
Please note that no meals are included.

*We kindly as you to be quiet and tidy as we sometimes work from home.
*You are allowed to smoke, but only in the garden area. There is a nice garden table and chairs, which also make an ideal place to have a breakfast or lunch (depending on the weather, of course).
*This room is just for one person, so no more guests allowed, please.
*If I'm expecting a guest I would appreciate if you could check-out at 11:00 so I can have time to prepare the room for the next guest.
Flor was an excellent and very conscientious host. She contacted me beforehand confirm what time I was arriving. The house was extremely clean. She had tea and coffee for me to during my stay, and also had an extra basket of toiletries available. There were also hangers and a space heater in the room. She was very friendly and I had some great conversations with her and her partner Ivan.
Excellent hosts! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and made sure I had a comfortable stay.
The house is nice, just like the description/photos really.
The location was perfect - really close to the hospital, which is what was important for me, but it's also so easy to get into the city by train.
Flor's home is located in an ideal location when working at Birmingham Uni. They were very welcoming, friendly and helpful on arrival. The room was very clean and everything needed for a nice stay was provided. The communication before my stay was brilliant and Flor updated with anything that I needed to know.
I was very grateful that I could stay on the final day as they were away but made sure I could return the keys etc.
I really enjoyed my stay at Flor's and would definitely come again!
Excellent location for all things University-based and delightful hosts. Highly recommended.
The staying was lovely. Flor and her friends are very welcoming and nice. The place was as listed on the advert and the neighborood was quite.
I'm currently teaching at Aston and I was a student at the University of Birmingham for a few years, so I know the city fairly well. I love travelling and learning about other cultures; so far my favourite cities are Venice, London and Paris, although I'm also in love with Oslo, Rome, Trieste and a few other mediterranean places. I have stayed in many AirBnBs and I have hosted many people, which has allowed me to make good friends around the world.
I really enjoy good food: especially Italian and Greek dishes, I'm always looking for the perfect moussaka! I can say that I'm a bit bookish: I'm a fan of Ken Follet and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I also love going to the theatre and to museums. My favourites are the Louvre, the Met and the Rijksmuseum.
