This is a quiet, friendly 5 bedroom 2 bath shared home with washer, dryer, high-speed WiFi, shared kitchen, living room, porch, yard, etc.
We are a block off Alberta Street with some of the BEST bakeries, espresso shops, restaurants and bars within a few blocks from the house. The bus stop across the street arrives downtown in about 20 minutes. FANTASTIC LOCATION.
The rooms are mostly all rented through airbnb or (website hidden) as a guest house for people looking for a short term stay while visiting or looking for longer term housing.
This room is an airy, funky, mostly remodeled basement space with a couch, coffee table, full size bed, 3 large windows, and is more separate from all the other rooms in the house.
The home is a laid-back, relaxed environment, a shared housing environment verses a Bed and Breakfast. The house is definitely a cosmetic fixer, funky old Portland home, and everyone loves the house with its open floor plan, 70s remodel retro charm, and many gigantic windows bringing the house a LOTS of light.
As the host, I came to Portland in 1992 to attend Lewis and Clark College and ended up staying in town ever since. I know the area well and have great restaurant suggestions, etc. I also enjoy spending time and getting to know guests personally, when there is time, love to go out for coffee, beverage, etc.
If you are looking for a hotel or BnB environment, this is definitely not the best fit. If you would like more of a rustic, relaxed, friendly home, this is for you! I look forward to meeting you and Welcoming you to Portland!!!
It is always a great idea to call me after booking the room to answer any questions or concerns and so we can chat and get you more acquainted.
Check in is after 3pm unless you have made prior arrangements otherwise. You can give me a call when on your way, and also let me know approximate ETA ahead of time.
Internet access: MOJITO
The house echoes quite a bit so for the downstairs rooms, we ask everyone to be aware of noise especially in the kitchen or downstairs areas... After 10pm and before 10am especially. There are keys available to the rooms in case you would like to lock your room, and due to so many coming and going, we usually leave the house open so nobody ends up locked out.
Please contact me early on if you think you may have any questions or concerns or if you tend to be sensitive in shared housing situations. I would be glad to go over all details and make sure this is the right fit for you.
I look forward to welcoming you to Portland!!!
Terresa is a good host, we had a very nice time in Portland, and are airbnb experience was good and just as we expected from the booking information, the living room is great also.
Teresa was very accommadating for my stay with her. She gave my girlfriend and i suggestions for places to visit on our trip to Portland/Oregon. Even though every room was full we barely saw anyone other than Teresa.
The place is nice and close to alberta street. I slept so well in this house. Great!
Pros: We were in Portland for a long weekend and needed a place to stay. I read good things about the Alberta arts district and knew we wanted to be within walking distance, and this house is just that. The location is great! The host was quick to respond, very nice/welcoming, and we chatted for a small bit about things to do, places to eat. The basement room we originally inquired about was taken but she said she had a similar room for the same price so we took it.
Cons: The room was freezing! I understand basements are colder than the rest of the house, but an extra blanket or a tiny space heater at night would help tremendously. We really weren't needing much since we didn't plan on being in the house very often, but half-completed renovations and a storage area for construction equipment is the best phrase to describe the basement. The shared areas (upstairs bathroom especially) could use a good deep cleaning. My husband said he felt dirtier after showering, so I skipped it all together.
All in all, if you are literally just wanting a place to crash for a night in a good location, this house is great. I feel like we overpaid for the room (we left a day early too due to illness) and could've stayed somewhere slightly better/cleaner on airbnb for the same price.
Pros: Teresa was very friendly and the location in the Alberta district is great. While the property left much to be desired it was safe and livable for the short duration of our stay.
Cons: The negatives during our stay were too numerous and serious to ignore. We are long-time airbnb users in both the U.S. and abroad and this is the first time we've felt the need to leave a negative review. The following are our most serious complaints.
We secured our reservation well in advance of our trip. Upon confirming our stay, Teresa told us that the room listed was not available but a neighboring room that she described as "nicer" was available for an identical price. We agreed to accept it. We arrived several hours late due to delays with our flight but kept Teresa informed the entire time. Despite this, the room was not ready when we arrived. The entire property is dirty and the bathrooms were in horrible condition. If the room we stayed in was "nicer" than the one listed, we would hate to have seen the other room.
It turned out that a friend of hers has been staying in the listed room for some time, however, Teresa still advertises this room despite the fact that it is not available.
Teresa did make some effort to clean while we were out and bought towels but someone who has been renting numerous rooms on airbnb for as long as she has should know better.
The final straw came after we returned home to Chicago. We received a phone call from Teresa trying to sell us on a multi-level marketing scheme she's involved with. Not cool. We would not recommend staying at this property.
Teresa is amazing and the house is great! I enjoyed my stay there and had a really good month full of fun, great new people in my life and I am sad I could not stay longer. the house is also located near Alberta Street, you are in the middle of the best area. enjoy your stay, you won't regret it.

I am very mellow but also friendly and outgoing. I like to develop relationships with people of all walks of life. I keep busy but also like to make time to get to know house mates. I have traveled in India, Mexico, Thailand, Canada, and the US. I have lived in Portland and this neighborhood for a long time and have many great suggestions.
