Description

The space

This is a roomy 19th century winemaker's house with 2007 extension. It is located in charming Baden, a spa and former haunt of Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven and Austrian Emperors. Also the site of the original Sacher Hotel, home of the famous chocolate cake. Our house is just a few minutes walk away from Baden´s town centre.

There is a split - level kitchen, a dining and a living area, plus six rooms / spaces and two bathrooms. The double and single bedrooms and the bathroom are upstairs, and there is also a double bedroom and bathroom downstairs. There are two double beds, one single bed, and three couches. A fully - equipped kitchen will be at your disposal. We've added a microwave at guests' request. There is a toaster oven and big oven too. You'll be welcome to use sugar, salt, all the staples, spices and condiments you can find. Furthermore, there are two satellite TVs as well as WIFI internet. The house also features a totally private garden with a patio and table and chairs for breakfasting or dining al fresco.

Vienna is about a half an hour drive on the highway. There is also an express bus which takes about forty minutes to Vienna Opera, at the centre of Vienna, and stops around the corner from our house. Or hop on a train for a 20 minute ride to the Vienna subway.

Please do not smoke in the house. Pets are allowed.

Our house is situated in a very quiet neighbourhood a few minutes walking distance from beautiful vineyards and a huge nature preserve.

Two major supermarkets are located within five minutes' walk. It is about a 10 minute walk to the town centre of Baden, with its full infrastructure and many attractions. There is free parking on the street, or in the gated drive - in courtyard.

All of the usual amenities of a hotel are provided:bedding, towels, soap, conditioner, hair dryer etc. as well as many additional useful items from a private home like iron and ironing board.
Printer: NEW - there is a printer that you can attach to your laptop with a USB cable (provided) or you can print (e.g. your boarding pass) wirelessly from a smartphone or tablet.

Interaction with guests

We'll try to be around to handover the keys and show you around and then disappear. You'll be welcome to call us for information or assistance during your stay.

The neighborhood

The house is in a quiet residential neighbourhood, close to vineyards and wooded hills. There are grocery stores and a bakery nearby. Free parking on the street or inside gates. There are two "heurigen" (wine gardens) on our block. There is lots to see and do in Baden. Vineyards and a huge nature preserve are minutes' walk away.

Getting around

There is a bus to the centre of Vienna. The bus stop is around the corner. It takes about 35 minutes. There is also an express train to Vienna, 22 minutes to the subway.

Other things to note

A dog lives here during the winter. She rehairs once a year. If it happens close to your stay, there may be a few hairs which we didn't catch - so it's not a place for people with dog allergy.

House Rules
No smoking

Please no smoking inside the house. There is a sheltered area in the garden for outdoor smoking. We would appreciate it if you could observe the recycling guidelines in our area. There are separate containers for plastic, glass, metal, paper, bio and other waste. Kindly remove circulars and so on from the mailbox. The neighbourhood is very quiet on Sundays, e.g. lawn mowing is not allowed. It would be a great day to have a barbecue on the patio or just lie in the sun in the garden and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Our guests have commented that it is a very tranquil and relaxing neighbourhood so please keep it that way by not making any unnecessary noise if you arrive home late at night.

The House was even better than expected, everything was perfect, we were 5 people and managed to stay very confortably. It is in a quiet place and parking is easy. The house was big and cozy, we could not use it very much as we were in Vienna all days, but I suppose a relaxing evening by the fireplace should be a must.

Our stay was just fantastic. John and Vessna are beautiful people, made us feel very comfortable in their home. It was like meeting good old friends and we were back home. Baden is charming, and 40 minutes by bus to Vienna. Is a very quiet and relaxing house, so quiet that we could hear our own thoughts :) A great place to stay whether you are visiting Baden and around or you are visiting Vienna. My only regret is I wish I could have had some time with these wonderful professional seasoned classical musicians to get to know more about their wonderful world of western classical music. They had to leave for Switzerland as they were both performing therre. Music is in the Air inn Austria, a beautiful country with lovely people.

A beautiful house with character in a very quiet neighbourhood in Baden. It has a serene cosy garden and all facilities you will require during your stay. It's walking distance from the Kurpark and several Heurigen's and restaurants. A 5 minute drive away from Gumpoldskirchen, highly recommended and 35mins bus ride from Vienna. Parking space in front of the house. The gate to the courtyard garden was open when we arrived. John was waiting in the house to welcome us and he took time to explain the house and to answer our questions about getting around and things to do. The place was clean and spacious. We had a fantastic stay!

John's house is beautiful, cozy and comfortable, perfect location on a quiet street, but close to downtown, parks and spas. We especially enjoyed the fireplace, which made our winter stay warm. The house is tastefully decorated and the upstairs bathroom is a amazing. We also really appreciated a sweet welcome gift - sparkling wine and jams. Thank you!!

John and Vesna’s house in Baden is a perfect base to explore Vienna and the surrounding region. We received a warm welcome on arrival from John’s son, Michael, who gave us a tour of the house and was very happy to suggest ideas for days out. The house was clean and well-equipped and the garden was perfect for relaxing during a very hot week in Baden. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending John and Vesna’s house.
