CHIANG MAI ATTRACTIONS
WHAT TO SEE IN CHIANG MAI
Chiang Mai is quickly becoming one of the most popular destinations in Thailand. The scenic mountain terrain beckons travellers to explore its peaks and forests, while the city is home to a wealth of historic and cultural sites waiting to be discovered.
Whether you’re the adventurous type who loves outdoor activities or a cultured epicure who loves to experience the finer things in life, a holiday in Chiang Mai will more than satisfy you – it will amaze you.
The Night Bazaar is arguably Chiang Mai’s biggest attraction in its self, leading the modern legacy of the Yuannese trading caravans that would stop here along the ancient trade route between China and Myanmar. Historic attractions are a bit thin on the ground around here. The reason people come to the area is primarily to shop and absorb the lively atmosphere.
There is Wat Ket temple, Scorpion long tail on the river, Sam Sen villa restaurant. Night market , weekend flea market.
And 10 minuets drive to bus terminal And train station. Airport is not so far only 20 minutes drive and we have taxi service toO.
Our place has a kitchen for guest if wan to cook simple food and we have washing machine too.
Other pulls of the Night Bazaar are entertainment focused with a varied selection of bars featuring live performances of boxing, cabaret and singing. However, true to Chiang Mai form there are a few temples speckled around the area; these include Wat Sri Dornchai, Wat Chang Kong and Wat Ubokut. Although these are some of the least spectacular structures within the city it is still well worth checking them out. The Ban Haw Mosque built by the Chin Ho, a group of Chinese Muslims during the 19th century, is also within the Night Bazaar area.
We have very good location ; close to warorot market,
Wat Ket Temple, Night Bazar, China town. Easy to Sunday market, Friday Farmer market.
very easy from airport to my place. Cols to bus terminal and train station. easy to fin taxi and mini bus.
Staying with Parichart is like staying with special family members. Nui (her nickname) and her son Pen go above and beyond to make one's stay comfortable and interesting, and they're intelligent, kind, caring and humorous, to boot! They are always willing to help one's Chiangmai visit be all that it can be. The location of the BnB is great; it's easily within walking distance of whatever you're interested in: temples, shops, restaurants, flower and night markets, and on and on. Little tours, cooking classes and cultural evenings can be arranged. And when rest is needed, lounging in the beautiful garden is perfect. You know you've been blessed after you've stayed here.
We had a very nice time at Parichart´s house. Her garden is beautiful and Parichart was very helpfull.
Fairly basic accommodation was more than compensated by the outstanding generosity and hospitality of the hosts. The lovely garden is an oasis of peace at the edge of the old city. It also provided an enjoyable place to meet other travelers.
Bann Songjum is a beautiful and comfortable garden. The traffic here is very convenient, there are a lot of restaurant nearby, and is very close to downtown. Nui is very kind, give us so much help. And all people which live here are friendly. Nui has a good dog-Lanna, very likable. We love here.
It was great !
Parichart is such a great person ! You can ask her for activities or tips of the region and she gave us always great advices. We enjoyed our stay in Chiang Mai.
Parichart B&B is very beautiful, it's so friendly and quiet, and the situation is very good, not to far of the center of the town !
I highly recommand this place !
What great few days living in Baan Soonjum. Phen and Parichart are soooooo nice and sweet! They are kind like your family. And always help you travel in CM easily and comfortable. Of course, the room surely satisfies backpackers' need. Hope that the next joyful time in CM and on Baan Soonjum
Hey, this is a nice friendly quiet place to stay just out of the centre of Chiang Mai, nice garden area.
Thank you Parichart !
Nui and Phen are so very welcoming, helpful and personal. They were happy for us to arrive early and checkout late on our last day. Everything you could possibly need is there in your room, the kitchen, in the communal area or in nearby shops. If you're staying with someone who is hogging the toilet, no worries, there are 2 in the communal area for everyone as well! Windows have fly screens which is a must to escape mosquitos; repellent is at-hand in the communal area. You can use the kitchen as you wish for water, tea, coffee, toast, eggs and use the 2 fridges (just make sure to clean up after yourself).
Nui and Phen are forever thoughtful, as it was very cold in Chiang Mai during our stay, they gave us extra duvets without us asking. Very close by is a cool second-hand shop which has a huge variety and some great finds from where Nui advised us to buy cheap warm jackets. They helped us book a tour, hire a motorbike and with directions for when we wanted to ride to Chiang Rai for a day as well!
Nui has a quirky collection of plates, bowls, mugs and also furniture from different houses that gives the place great character. Lanna, her dog is always smiling and ready for a pat whereas her partner, Frank, can sometimes be seen dashing around like a squirrel. Make sure you close the gate or these 2 will run out!
There are power sockets almost everywhere and great wifi. Nui is always happy to talk and share information about anything and everything! The place is very secure with a gate that is always latched shut and locked at night; the rooms also have locking doors.
TIP: when showering, for hot water, only turn the tap open a little bit. The higher the water pressure, the colder; so low pressure showers = hot showers.
The city centre is only a short scoot away and the highway is also near -
I would not hesitate to stay at Baan SongJum again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a tranquil environment with friendly guests and beautiful hosts.
Parichart (she has you call her Nui) is a delight!! She is very educated and articulate. We loved staying with her, and she worried about us like a mother. She wanted to make sure we were having a good time on our visit. One of the days, she went above and beyond being a host by having one of her family give us a ride to make sure we made a bicycle tour timely.
We would highly recommend Nui's place. You won't be disappointed.
