Simple rustic hut with a view of the forest and the elephants passing by.
Beautiful and cozy Thai style bungalows offer the ultimate private mountain experience and you can watch a family of elephants pass by your windows all day long. The hut features traditional grass roof, high quality mattress and linens, mini-bar, mosquito net, fan, and a small private patio.
Here you can spend your days caring and interacting with elephants — playing, feeding, and bathing them. Cool off with an afternoon swim, ride down the river in a bamboo raft, or simply float away in a tube. Picnic in the garden, eat fresh fruit right from the tree and relax in a hammock. Go trekking to secret waterfalls, beautiful vistas, Hill Tribe villages and hidden spots unreachable by car. And at the end of the day, come gather around the fire pit and experience local Hilltribe music and dance performances that date back generations, while gazing at a sky full of stars.

Interaction with Guests
I am here most days and we have a full time staff to take care of guests and help them to feel at home.
Don't leave Thailand without seeing the local lifestyle and natural beauty of the Thai country side, its the best part!.
If you are on a budget you can save a lot of money by renting a motor bike or scooter. The roads are good and you can check out the surrounding villages.
Elephants are powerful wild animals. In the interest of safety please only approach an elephant when accompanied by a mahout.
Smoking: is allowed in outdoor spaces but not inside the rooms. We ask that you help take care of our little slice of paradise by placing trash in the proper receptacles and cigarettes in designated ashtrays.
This stay was even better than we could have imagined. The staff was incredibly accomodating and welcoming. The activities and adventures available were great, and well executed. It was so charming...one of my favorites stays ever! I would absolutely go back, and will most certainly recommend it to friends.
Amazing trip and amazing experience.
Outstanding service from the employees. Very friendly and welcoming. This is the place to be when visiting Chiang Mai. I noticed people coming for one day in my opinion 1 day is a rushed experience . Take your time relax for a couple of days.
The Chai Lai Orchid was such a great experience. I wish we had stayed longer. All the staff were fantastic and helpful and made us feel welcome. I really hope to make it back in the future to see how the place has grown. It is such an amazing thing that Alexis is doing and visiting the Chai Lai Orchid can help her continue her great work. It is a beautiful and relaxing place that everyone should visit.
Truly one of the most remarkable places I have ever stayed. Would definitely recommend bathing an elephant. Experience of a lifetime. The elephants are wonderfully treated and are so accessible. I never imagined that I would be able to spend so much time with them. Would recommend this place to anybody.
Alexa and her staff are amazing. The entire concept of her eco-lodge is unique and a welcoming experience. She has a driver that will pick you up from the airport of your hotel in Chiang Mai and bring you to her place.
It is a very simple and serene location right along the river. You'll wake up to elephants, puppies and chickens running around the compound.
It was an unforgettable experience for a worthy cause!
Oh there's WIFI so be sure to post pics and spread the word on Daughters Rising!
My stay at the chai lai orchid was amazing and I loved all the activities, especially the elephants and the trekking. The food was lovely and the seating area by the river is lovely (if a little cold at this time of year). I didn't meet Alexa, but all of the staff were lovely. However there are some down sides - the nature bungalow wasn't very clean with lots of dead (and alive!) bugs everywhere. Also, the water wasn't very warm, which made my shower in the morning v uncomfortable as it gets v cold at night at this time of year. So it certainly isn't luxury. However being able to hear the sounds of nature while sleeping is relaxing. It is a little far from Chiang Mai, where many of the offered activities are (therefore you have to pay for taxi to get there), so I would recommend staying in Chiang Mai at least one night to do all this rather than travelling. However, I loved my stay and would definitely recommend staying here.
