The Casa Tango property at El Chaman was incredible. Plenty of space, great decor, plenty of fans and A/C (very hot in the Costa Rica jungle!) and everything was better than described. We enjoyed the pool, especially! This is about as local as you can feel in Manuel Antonio—the bus stop makes it convenient and cheap to go anywhere (we didn't rent a car) and Eddie (property manager) hooks you up with discounts and recommendations for all recreation. Since Casa Tango has a full kitchen, we went to the farmers market in Quepos and got lots of fresh veggies and seafood to cook throughout our stay. I can't say enough good things about our trip. Thank you, Ann!

PROS: +Convenience- Manuel Antonio is a relatively dense area where you can do multiple things each day, and it does NOT require a car. +Amenities- The Chaman (Casa Tango) complex includes a pool and most all traditional comforts like AC, phone, cable, wi-fi, & cooking utensils. +Helpfulness- Ann was prompt in her communication, and provides tenants with a list of tips & suggestions for the area. Great first place to stay in Costa Rica. CONS: -Expensive area- The notion that your money will go a long way in CR is a myth. MA is an expensive place to stay due to the cost of food & taxi. Ask Pia to call Gustavo for rides! WHAT TO BRING: *Groceries- Save some money by buying food and cooking at home. *Camera- The views from MA are incredible & worth photographing every day.

Yes, cooking at home is a great way to make your dollar stretch and our fresh air market on the weekends is the perfect place to buy produce. So is taking the bus (50 Cents a ride) which is very conveniently located at the corner of our street. It goes between the town of Quepos and the glorious beaches of Manuel Antonio every half hour from early morning to late night. There are also many local restaurants where you can eat a delicious meal of the day for under $10. The area is amazing for this, you can find 5 star hotels and cuisine along side of mom and pop home cooking with a budget to fit every pocket book.

My wife and I were in 7B for 18 days. I would stay here again. In fact we may go back later in the year and this would be my first choice to stay. This was our seventh trip to Costa Rica. This apartment was economical and is in a quality location. It is quiet except for the Macaws in the morning. It is a very easy walk to the bus stop. From Chaman, we used the old road to Quepos to walk to the seaside Saturday market. We rode the bus back. We saw a lot of wild life from the back patio. We even saw Howler Monkeys one early morning. The apartment is very spacious. The furnishings are dated but adequate. No HD TV and Internet service is typical for Costa Rica with a weak signal. We were able to stream video with our Chromebook. Air-conditioning works great but we did not use it a lot. An open window and ceiling fan kept us comfortable at night. As others have stated, there is lots of hot water with great pressure. Access to a washer and dryer is a great luxury we have not had in the past. We ate breakfast and lunch and half of our suppers at the apartment. The kitchen is very well equipped and eating on the patio by candlelight was very romantic. The gardens surrounding the apartment are tended daily and there is a great assortment of plants. I am a big boy and the mattress on the bed was a bit of an issue for me. Not a big deal just a little sore in the morning. The pool area surprised me. The pool water and sides are very clean but the green tile makes it look as if there is an algae problem. The pool furniture needs some attention and general pool area cleaning could improve. Though it didn’t keep us away, we were in the pool almost every day. The phone didn’t work when we got there. I reported the problem and Maria Pia remedied the issue almost immediately. We did not have maid service. The apartment is easy to keep clean and we certainly know how to make a bed. I never understand why there are so many locked gates and high fences. This complex has them as well. I did feel extra secure in the apartment even though everyone we meet in Costa Rica is so nice and friendly. The place was perfect for us. I recommend it highly.

My husband and I discovered Manuel Antonio over 20 years ago and have been in love ever since. There's no better place to relax and enjoy nature. We have enjoyed travelling around the world, but always come home to Manuel Antonio! We are artists/designers, dancers of Argentine Tango, with adventurous spirits.

We enjoy hanging with our friends and dining together. Willy is French by birth so cooking is in his DNA (I had to work at it!). There's an open market on the boardwalk in Quepos on the weekends and you will find a wide array of fresh fish, fruits and vegetables. It's just lovely to have your pick. Quepos also has a great selection of restaurants from typical Costa Rica, Italian, Mexican, Japanese and Middle Eastern. Most are open breakfast through late dinner.

Movies is another passion. Although our area only has one movie theatre at Si Como No Hotel, television offers movies in Spanish, English, French and German...most with sub titles. It's nice to relax with a good movie after a day at the beach, sunset drinks and a good meal.

Our life motto, "Try to experience the present moment!"
