A nice, quiet and elegant room with a shared bathroom, movies, shopping and dining options within walking distance. Also just upgraded to AT&T Gigapower Internet which is the fastest in Austin.
We tried out airbnb when we moved to Austin recently and found it to be an awesome experience. So we wanted to open up our new house to get to know people from other parts of the world. Our house is upgraded with engineered hard wood floors most of downstairs, tile in the kitchen and bathrooms and also lush carpeting in the bedrooms and upstairs. Also feel free to use our kitchen with granite countertops, gas and stainless steel appliances. We also have a pair of energy efficient front load washer and dryer for your needs.
If Austin doesn't keep you busy throughout the day, then you can unwind at home with my PS3, XBox360 with Kinect, high speed wifi, extended cable with 300+ channels (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Encore) and our home theater. You will also be able to use a 10" Android tablet preloaded with apps like HBO Go and Austin information so that you can watch shows in the comfort of your own room. You can also connect your laptop to our 24" LCD monitor in the nook for additional workspace. That's why you definitely won't be bored here staying here.
We have a few rooms available in our house. This upstairs room evokes the classic elegance of Europe with the beautiful Restoration Hardware iron bed and a comfortable queen Serta mattress. It has a bathroom next to it which is shared with another room. We have also installed a remote controlled ceiling fan to ensure that your stay here with us be perfect. Please view our other listings for color pictures. We are kids friendly and we also have a chocolate Labrador retriever.
Even though we might be strangers at first but we hope to become friends at the end of your stay. To see airbnb from our perspectives, you can check out our blog about our airbnb adventure in the social network f-b and search for "Cheah Welcome" or (f-b)/cheah.welcome

Our house is in a brand new middle class subdivision and located just 5-10 mins walk to Southpark Meadows shopping center where you can find Target, Sams Club, Walmart, Best Buy, numerous dining options as well as a Cinemark cinema. It's also 10 minutes to South Congress, 15 minutes to the airport and 10-15 minutes to Austin Downtown. The infamous Austin traffic jam is not a big problem due to many access roads to and from downtown and this might add 5-10 more minutes to your journey depending on rush hour on weekdays. Weekends are a breeze.
For those without cars, Rapid bus 801 with wifi and leaves every 15 minutes will get you to downtown within 30 mins for $1.50 one way. Bus 10 also gets you to the Greyhound bus station within 1 hour for $1.00. To get to the airport, you will take either bus 801/10 to downtown and then bus 100 to the airport (total cost ~$3).
Other Things to Note
You can park in the driveway and also on the curb. We also have 2 other rooms available if this room is not what you look for. They could also be occupied so there could be other guests in the house.
We usually don't wear shoes in the house for cleanliness. Also we are non smoking household so we ask to go for a walk if they want to smoke. We also people to please respect one another as well as clean up after yourselves when using the bathrooms, entertainment room, and kitchen so that everyone has a clean bathroom, entertainment room, and kitchen to use and we want you to feel at home!
Ernest and Lila hosted us for one night. The house is beautiful, the room clean, confortable and well equipped.
Ernest gave us some indication about the grat things to do in Austin. It was very pleasant to share that time with Ernest and Lila !
The house looks exactly at pictured and is much larger than expected. I had a lovely room and shared a bathroom with another guest but it never seemed to be a problem in terms of us needing it at the same time. I like to walk in the mornings and this neighborhood has lots of sidewalk on which to meander. It's also close to main arteries for getting into Austin.
Excellent. Gracious hosts, comfortable, room and great location near Moto GP.
Ernest and Lila are very friendly and made us feel welcome. The room and house were great. The neighborhood is a very quiet sub division. It is not a long drive to the more active areas. Overall this was a convenient, stress free, enjoyable stay.
Ernest and Lila were great hosts! They were super friendly and great to chat with. The private room I stayed in was clean and had plenty of room for me to spread out my belongings. They offer a wide variety of entertainment options and had all the amenities I needed. When I ended up leaving a shirt or two behind, they were so helpful in making sure I got it back. If I am ever in Austin, I am going to try and stay with them again.
Our host was pleasant and the home was very delightful. This made my 1st SXSW experience that much better! I really enjoyed Austin
Ernest and Lila's home could have been custom-built for Airbnb. Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms that share a spacious, complete bathroom. They also share a very large living area, complete wiith hi-def projector tv and more.
Downstairs there is another living area, a nicely appointed kitchen and another guest room with a private bath.
My wife and I intended to stay a week, but when circumstances changed we enthusiastically signed up for another week.
The price is very good for what you enjoy.
The neighborhood is nice, and safe, but a visit to the grocery or restaurant will usually require a drive unless you have a bit of time.
I highly recommend it.

We were new to Austin 2 years ago and tried Airbnb for the first time when we moved here then. It has been a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and we decided to host fellow travellers and those who are making Austin their new home. We love to travel and we've been to many countries. We can also be considered foodies because we really enjoy trying new and different types of cuisine. Ernest loves sports and is a tech geek whereas Lila is more of a homebody and loves to bake and cook. We have also recently became proud parents of a beautiful boy.
We had stopped being Airbnb hosts after having our baby but the draw of meeting guests from all over the world was too hard to resist. We have hosted guests from England, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Poland, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Syria, Palestine, Tanzania, Russia, Australia, Ireland, Nepal, Peru and of course the many states of the USA. There's also young, old, married, kids, moving to Austin, Christians, Muslims, Mormons, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, grandparents, moms, dads, LGBT and many more. What a wonderful world we live in! If you are not in this list, then there's always a first and we embrace diversity. Hopefully you will enjoy our company as we embark on this adventure together. Thank you also for helping us achieve the SuperHost status.
